The only reason I have given 1 star is because I cannot give ZERO stars. I feel for the staff who have to answer the phone at Companies House as they bare the brunt of the general frustration and anger that has been caused by the complete ineptitude of those who run Companies House.
Not only is the Director Identity Verification process very difficult it also discriminates against those elderly or disabled individuals who are not computer literate.
All 3 directors of my client company have verified their identity and received a code. Just tried to file the Confirmation Statement and it has been rejected because all active directors are required to verify their identity.
Go figure!!!!!!

Repeated Unjust Rejections and Ignored Disabilities

I submitted a company registration application and provided all required information and verified identification. I have disabilities that make form-filling and written communication extremely difficult, yet my application was rejected due to a name issue.

After contacting the team and providing proof of identity, I was explicitly told this would not cause a rejection. Despite this, my application was rejected again for the same reason, requiring me to provide the same ID that had already been verified.

This has caused unnecessary stress and wasted hours of time. The process has shown a lack of reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, ignoring the difficulties caused by disabilities.

The handling of the application was unnecessarily punishing and inaccessible, making what should be a straightforward process extremely difficult.

Companies house is the worse ever

Companies house is the worse ever – another waste of taxpayers' money.
They are quick to send you an anonymous letter demanding money and penalties and threatening to take you to court, but their website never works, and you get nowhere when you call.
The most absurd company ever is this one!
What is the purpose of this filling, by the way, if a company is dormant? It is directly in front of you can't you read your own website , i won't be surprise.
Everything they do is nonsensical; they waste people's time, are corrupt, and take money from hard-working people for free.
added incompetence on top of that

Companies House ID Verification = Nightmare on Elm Street

1. Implementing ID verification has been a nightmare on elm street part X. The GovOne platform does not work with Companies House properly and the entire process of ID verification is flawed and poorly executed

2. Confirmation Statement costs tripled. The Confirmation Statement is an annual confirmation of Director change or not. This is also ID confirmation, is how I see it. So they implement ID verification, when they have "Confirmation Statement"????. Obviously we all know it is to to with their NATIONAL ID DATABASE they want to implement

3. Getting through to anyone at this organisation is horrendous. I have spent the entire day thus far dealing with this one query. From 9a.m. to present, so 14:15hrs, and still on the phone, still trying to get them to do anything about their mess that they caused, due to poor execution

4. The best solution from my point of view, is to relocate the businesses outside of the UK, but still trade in the UK, whether Companies House likes it or not. Avoid all their Confirmation Statements, their ID verifications that do not work and all the control mechanisms that Companies House and this OneGov appear to have over the unsuspecting British public

5. The above reasons are a part of the reason as to why the UK is despised and is in major decline

Thanks.

This new verifcation code process has been very badly planned and executed. Poorly communciated, terrible instructions, a tech service that falls over and no access to help - and we are threatened with legal consequences for failing?

Companies House you need to have a long hard look at yourselves - my colleague is still awaiting a call back sev en days on from struggling to do this and now I am stuck as well

IT department should be sacked

Like many government services, Companies House is not fit for purpose. Whoever designed the software for the ID verification process was either a) given the brief to make it as cumbersome and non-user friendly as possible b) having a laugh or c) completely incompetent. have spent an hour , downloading hte necessary app, responding to at many requests for iD verification texts and messages and trying to scan my passport. Got the green line and .... nothing. Where do I go from here. Tried to call Companies House got through an automated system by saying I wanted to speak to an advisor and then... got cut off. A reflection of the sorry state of our government.

Verifying director’s to Company’ House nightmare

Complete nightmare trying to verify directors for new rules next month. Spent the whole day trying. Neither driving licence nor passport accepted. Phoned company’s house and the .gov help desk for this and if documents not accepted, you can’t try again. Only suggestion was to go to the Post Office and use a solicitor or accountant at around £50 each. These internet sites are so bad. Have had same issue paying tax over the years. You would think in 21st century UK which is supposed to be the “service industry” country the .gov would be functioning ?

Companies House - not fit for purpose.

Why take something that wasn't broken then break it? Just tried signing in via the new, improved(?) up to date security conscious graphical user interface and after entry of multiple codes and attempts I still failed to access my account.

It's such a secure system, that with my full account details and permissions I cannot gain entry. How are we expected to work with an orgaisation that clearly doesn't work and is not fit for purpose

Sort it out.

Usual rude, arrogant, unhelpful attitude, had to call this lot due to the usual threatening emails, the usual snotty dismissive response from a civil servant who knows no matter how bad she is nothing will happen to her.
Wanted some help with yet more intrusive data mining from this lot, the response "go and look at a website" peppered with the usual you must because we say so.
We have to pay fees to this lot of wasters because they say so, no options and plenty of threats attached

No reasonable notice of late delivery or penalty.

My firm is dormant. I registered to secure the name of my firm. I got a letter by post informing me that I have not delivered my accounts for 31 December 2024, But, since that time I have had no email notices and no notice of a filing penalty. Nothing about late delivery of accounts until the other day in the letter. I must deliver the accounts before 17th October. I'm, hoping that means I will not incur a penalty if I do that. It's not entirely clear. EDIT: And now today I cannot file accounts because of some technical problem. Sheesh!

iXBRL? LMAO!

Companies House' decicision to enforce software based submission of accounts from April 2027 is beyond hilarious. They are just going to end up with either a complete mess of accounts that don't work and their data set will be useless, or nobody will have a clue what their on about and they won't have any accounts for the year. I am relatively computer savvy and the whole thing is gobbledegook to me. Looking through some of the already woeful paper based accounts in the system from other companies from previous years, this is going to be an utter trainwreck. Good luck get 70 Yr old Arthur Cartwright who runs a farm in Yorkshire to submit his accts in XMBRLi or whatever the hell it is!! Absolute out of touch grade A dickheads.

Changed for the Worse

Over the years Companies House has got worse. I've filed for clients for 32 years, now trying to log in is a joke, they blame my browser, cookies, cache, etc. there are blips when trying to change things, you get chucked out in the midst of filing and have to log in again, and they NEVER make a mistake!! Customer service used to be okay, but I'm afraid that is now hit and miss, and with all this new identity stuff that's going on, I'm seriously thinking of quitting my job, too much hassle for the mostly small sized companies our accountancy firm deal with,it won't stop the frauds going on.

So unprofessional and conflicting

So unprofessional! Intsructed me to file RPCH01 and RP02A forms online, the online site instructs you to NOT attach anything other than from or be rejected, reject it ands send via post for not uploading ID, despite site telling you form will be rejected. Beg for an email address to resubmit the forms due to time urgency and categorically told that you can't send the forms via email and the only way they'll accept them is the post, send them again this time via post and receive a letter from Companies House telling me that the forms need to be resubmitted via email! What in the lord of god is going on at Companies House. I fear government departments have been told to give people conflicting information to send the mental health of people in this country nuts as if they all do it you are bound to feel like you are loosing your mind, is companies house doing this on purpose to cause distress and confusion?
