I bought a sink chip repair kit for my Shaws sink. Basically it doesn't work! Peels off within a few days despite following instructions fastidiously. Ordering and delivery were fine, but the product is poor.

It should be possible to repair a chip very effectively, so something has obviously gone wrong. Assuming you've bought the kit directly from us at Shaws, please contact the Customer Services team (sales@shawsofdarwen.com). Perhaps some element of the kit was faulty - it must be worth trying again. At the moment we don't have our own repair demonstration video (in fact we're planning to film one in January) but this video might be helpful in the meantime (despite German titles):

We bought a butlers 600 approx 5 years…
We bought a butlers 600 approx 5 years ago and within the first 2 years it started getting cracks and dents at the bottom of the sink. We are a retired couple so don't have enormous use of it with just the two of us. I complained, and they said it was past the warranty and couldn't replace it. It is now in a very sorry state and we shall have to purchase another sink. I have had white cast iron sinks in the past with no problem after many years of use.

First, if your sink is showing fine lines under the glaze – we call this ‘crazing’ – it will not affect its performance. Fireclay is a natural material, and no one has yet perfected a method that entirely prevents the possibility of crazing. We do replace sinks that exhibit crazing under warranty, although some customers feel it adds unique character to the sink. Second, any chips or impact damage in a fireclay sink can be repaired. A sink repair kit can be obtained from a good ironmongers or our own shawsofdarwen.com website. I’m not quite sure from your review exactly when or who you complained to, but if you haven’t called our Customer Services team we would suggest doing so, as they may have further help or advice to offer.

The double bowl sink is a beautiful and practical product.
Ours was installed about a month ago.
We have just noticed hairline cracks appearing in both bowels. After reading various blogs it would appear that this problem happens a lot.
I have just reported the problem to my kitchen installer and await Shaws’ proposals about replacement.
The problem will be getting the existing one out from the unit where the granite worktops overlap the edges. I assume the sink is glued to the oak base.
I’ve read on various blogs that they need to inspect the underside of the sink to identify the stamp before agreeing to a replacement. Which means further inconvenience.
This sounds like a nightmare! And I understand that Shaws will not pay for the labour content.
I await their proposals with interest but having spent £600 plus vat I’m not impressed.
My Ceramic Belfast sink in the utility room is 70 years old with no cracks at all!

Apologies for the delay in responding (we had some technical problems accessing our Trustpilot account). It sounds like your sink is experiencing crazing. Very few Shaws sinks suffer from this, but unfortunately no ceramic manufacturer has yet developed a process to entirely eliminate the possibility of crazing. It does not affect the performance of the sink, by the way, and some customers feel that it is part of the character of a natural material. But we do replace crazed sinks under our Lifetime Warranty, so do please call our Customer Services team to discuss how we can help.

Why? - Top quality products that can’t be found ( or anything even close to it ) anywhere else.
I work across the UK. London - Brighton - Northwest.
Also, would like to mention my experience with customer service (Alison) was a real game changer for me- helped me get the product (same day) very quickly and so mitigated substantial delays on the fitting side - brilliant service.

Belfast sink Is simply perfect. Had looked a few different places but wanted the Shaws branding and the guarantee of quality, overall the colour and glaze brighter and the sink thicker and sturdy in comparison to others whole thing screams of quality, beware of cheap imitations. The wee goody bag that came with it excellent especially love the mini sink perfect for keeping hand wash off the worktop. Delivery so quick and delivery charge to Northern Ireland v reasonable. All round a first class product and great service.

I had to wait such a long time for my sink, although the nice lady on the phone did explain that sometimes they are not finished perfectly so they have to be made again! When I tried to ring the office it was difficult to get through, I also emailed and no reply..When I did speak to somebody they were very helpful...

Cant fault service, however this part I know will not last, both plastic chrome look overflow plugs failed, and it will be only a matter of time before it happens again - should be made of stainless steel to ensure longevity.

If the sinks are as good as the sales support then i will be very happy indeed. I ordered two sinks online on Saturday afternoon and then yesterday changed my mind on one of them. No hassle at all - refund one, order the new one, add to order and all sorted. Sandra is a superstar!
