HT5622 bought from Robert Dyas

HT5622 bought from Robert Dyas because it was relatively cheap at under £100 after my Mcallister developed a few faults. A bit nadgery to start and not very well balanced - all the weight is at the motor end which makes it feel heavier than it is and tiring to use for a long time. This might contribute to a rather uneven cut compared to other machines. I have a Mountfield multitool which is well balanced and gives a better finish although not on the original blades (long story). The Mcallister was a real beast and went through everything first time (so you had to be sure you were cutting carefully). In contrast the HT takes a few passes to get things smooth. It has only done a few hours work so reliability is an unknown but I hope it lasts longer than the couple of years the (very cheap) Macallister managed. On the plus side it is quite parsimonious on fuel, does not smoke at all and runs reasonably cool.

Garden shredder?

I am amused to see that the official website for McCullough tools does not mention garden chippers (the things to mince branches and cuttings once you have trimmed the hedge etc.) I bought one of these, an MS2500 model. It is total rubbish. The most dangerous way to waste half an hour in your garden you will ever find. It won't digest anything fatter than a matchstick, spits a good portion of it back out of the top to try and blind you, so you had better wear eye protection, and whinges that you shouldn't put small twigs into it. Ironic, given that small twigs are all it can manage

Rust bucket

Difficult to adjust height , hates damp grass .
The only mower I have ever purchased whose body rusted out despite never stored damp, leaving an engine and not much else - AVOID

Doest like the wet

Have had this ride on for about 5 years and whilst it's tough as an oul boot and gives no bother, it's useless collecting grass if it's slightly damp, and I mean slightly. I'm forever having to stop and clean out the chute of grass. Would never buy another one for that reason.

Impossible to register the product!

Impossible to register the product!
They used to have an online form. Clearly that was too convenient for their customers, so now they tell you to send an email to Gardena.
You get back an email (in German) telling you that they no longer reply to emails and that you have to fill in their online form with your enquiry.
Then you get back another email (in German) asking you if the answers which they given were helpful (which they weren't because there weren't any answers) and to send them an email - which they just told you they don't reply to.
So you send them another email telling them that the answers they didn't provide were not helpful.
You get another email telling you that they've replied to your enquiry, only this time you need to log on to your account to read it.
So you go to the Gardena website (in German) to try to log on to an account that you don't have, only to be told (in German) that the password you've entered is incorrect.
So you try to actually set up an account with them, only to be told by email (in German) that you can't set up an account because you already have an account (yes, the one you haven't set up) Still with me?
You click the reset password link in the email which doesn't take you to a rest password page, it takes you to the home page of the Gardena website.
So you try logging on again only this time you click the forgot password link (in Ger...you get the idea) and they send you a reset password link by email (you know, the things they told you they didn't reply to) Only they don't send you a reset password link.
Instead you get an email thanking you for setting up a new account (yes, that's right, the one they wouldn't let you set up because it already existed)
You've now got 24 hours to 'activate' an account that they wouldn't let you set up. Except the button in the email doesn't do anything, and the link you can copy-paste into your browser just takes you to the Gardena home page.
So, now you have an account which you DIDN'T set up that you can't log on to because the password is invalid and you can't reset it and account which you DID set up, that were told you couldn't set up, which now you can't activate, and a product....

This mower rob400 worked great for 3 months but now will no longer pair on my iPhone last few days. App was updated by the developer recently and now mower is useless. Manually having to go out and set it off and then back to it to send it back to recharge is a pain as not straightforward. Not recommended. If issue not fixed soon it’s going in the scrap heap.

McCulloch cordless leaf blower

I bought a McCulloch cordless leaf blower 18 months ago to reduce my carbon footprint, however the battery failed to charge after using it less than a dozen times and McCulloch do not make replacement batteries for it!
So I will be chucking the blower and battery pack in the bin, which is not great for my carbon footprint!
I just wish I'd read Trustpilot before I bought it!

I repair garden equipment and have got to say that if you are considering purchasing a McCulloch item of any sort then beware. I wouldn’t touch them with a forty foot barge pole. Parts are ridiculously hard to get hold of and their communication is non existent.

Appalling level of service

Appalling level of service. McCulloch can’t even provide a diagram and full parts list for their machines.

I bought a chain saw for occasional use. It’s out of warranty. The starter cord should no be able to work itself loose (not broken, just unwound itself). Having contacted customer services, they cannot provide a diagram of how the starter housing should be assembled. Worse, they are unable or unwilling to supply a part number or supply a Replacement spring.

Instead they want me to make a 3 hour trip to an authorised dealer. Why? It should be easy enough to supply the spring and instructions on how to reattach the starter cord.

Avoid buying anything McCulloch if they can’t provide after warranty service unless you live right next to one.

DO NOT BUY A MUCCULLOCH RIDE ON !!!!!

I have had many ride on mowers and was given a brand new Mcculloch ride on mower after my last mower died. I can honestly say that I have never had such a crap piece of equipment in my life. This thing shakes and rattles so bad you need an hour to get over the experience. Unless your lawn is as flat and as smooth as a billiard table don't bother as anything longer than a cm it has a dicky fit. If I had actually paid for it then it would have gone back first cut. Complete and utter crap, DO NOT BUY a Mcculloch ride on.

UNHAPPY Australian customer

UNHAPPY Australian customer
three years ago i purchased a new Mcculloch whipper snipper from Bunnings
I thought i will replace my old Mcculloch with a new model with more power after spending $400.00+ It ran well for the warranty period .two months after that it would idle but not accelerate Bunnings told me to contact the maker
I was advised by Mcculloch to take it to a mower supplier to have it looked at Although angry I did only for the repairer to tell me to throw it in the bin as we will not service any Mcculloch products .
What a recommendation for your equipment from a professional repairer
Your products look very pretty in the bright yellow but thats all . they are only suitable to be a paper weight or a extra piece of garbage in a bin. DO NOT waste your money buy a cheap one then bin it like i did

I'm really surprised such a prominent brand pays such blatant disregard to their customer care. I am trying very hard to buy a replacement battery and charger for my strimmer but Mcculloch are doing everything they can to stop me from purchasing from them. I am very confused. Why don't they want me to buy it? Anyway, it leaves me without a working strimmer and hours of wasted calls and emails. After 6 weeks of trying I may have to give up!

Wish I had read the other reviews…

Wish I had read the other reviews before I purchased a GB 355BP, which arrived without a seal in the fuel cap. Only discovered this while operating the machine and having petrol spilt over my trousers. I would have excused this had McCulloch sent the missing part. Their response via the retailer was that it was a consumable not covered by the warranty. How on earth does a missing part become a consumable part. Extremely myopic and mean spirited response by McCulloch who expected me to drive 20 miles to the nearest agent so they could examine the machine, rather than replace the missing washer, truly unbelievable. McCulloch hang your head in shame!!!
