Please get away of this travel booking agent. They are going to use whatever trick they can to rip you off, avoiding any refund. Despite the fact hotel confirmed reservation was cancelled by the travel agency and funds returned, following local Spanish law due to covid19, Flixhotels declined to proceed with the refund using some vague excuses and using German law (hello? This is Europe and European laws prevalence over local legislation) to back up its answer. They invited me to use my travel insurance to recover my money. Flixhotels are shameless and eager to scam you. Watch out and avoid to use their services.

I agree with everything said in the privious review. I cancelled my FREE CANCELATION booking (worth over £2.5k). They offered me VOUCHER. I said that i do not accept voucer and demand a refund to which i have a full right. Then they replied that German government is still due to annouce rules regarding vouchers. This is not true! There is no auch law in Germany! According to german laws you do not have to accept voucher.
The. they said they can only offer money refund after December 2021!!!! What a joke. I will be seeking legal action agains them.

Warning for Flixhotels. I booked a hotel in NY and payed extra for free cancellation to be safe that I will recieve my money back. When I cancel I got a confirmation and send them all information that they asked for. I got a message that the money will be paided in 4-6 weeks, and then they change their mind and offer me a voucher and motivate it with some descision that the German Goverment had done april 1th, 3 weeks after my cancellation. When I didn't accept that they told me that I will recieve money after december 2021 !!!!

I booked a stay at the Grand hyatt in the Bahamas early this year, I cancelled on the 20th of March was told to be paitent wait 4-6 weeks for my full refund - have had emails saying it will be soon asking for my banking details now - today is the 7th of May and have an email saying all they can do is a voucher - JUST DISRESPETFUL -

I have also made a free cancellation reservation through flixhotels.com. They charged me almost 800 euro(the total amount) in the reservation day even though it was a free cancellation. In booking.com this kind of reservation charge at a time very close to the stay. I got nervous and checked from the hotel and they said they can see the reservation. Due to the pandemic I wanted to cancel the res. They confirmed the cancellation and asked me to wait for 4-6 weeks. Since there was no news at the end of the period I wrote them. They have said that they wont be able to make a refund instead they will give me a voucher which I can use in the next 5 years. I tried the voucher and it is not working. The company is scam, stat away!!! I asked my bank a charge back hope it works out fine.

Would get a 0 star if I could, booked portaventura for the easter holidays, couldn't go as hotel and park closed, they said no refund as flixhotels still have to pay portaventura hotel for my booking, I contacted hotel who state that I can move dates with no extra fees or charges, but have to contact flixhotels to do it. Not only did they refuse to move dates they cancelled my holiday as "per my request" they are a dirty, robbing company and hope people remember the way they were treated and refuse to give them any custom after this pandemic is over. Contacted my bank to request a chargeback.

We found the FLIX HOTELS offer through TRIVAGO.
We canceled our reservation (FREE CANCELLATION) a few days before the pandemic was declared because we decided not to go on vacation seeing the problem that was coming.. Once we cancel, we immediately receive an email confirming our refund. But the refund does not come.
In addition, no one told us that at the time of making the reservation they would charge our credit card for the entire amount. We found out by email, which arrived immediately after booking and another with the full charge on the credit card ... WITHOUT NOTICE!
I sent them numerous emails about why I had not received my refund and they make all kinds of excuses. Regrettable!!!
ONLY SOLUTION TO RECEIVE THE REFUND: Since we did not receive any facilities from FlixHotels, we decided to put a CLAIM TO VISA and finally after 16 weeks VISA has made the refund !!!

I cancelled 2 days after my booking, well before the Pandemic was declared because I had found a better deal elsewhere. Once I cancelled, I immediately received an email with the confirmation of my refund amount.
I've sent them numerous emails and made calls directly to their offices in Germany because I had not received my refund. They FINALLY replied that they are short staffed and will refund me within 4-6 weeks.
**Update** Filed a chargeback with MasterCard, and got my refund that way

I had to cancel my booking with Flixhotels because of the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. At first Flixhotels give some indications that I would receive a full refund with no penalties or fees. But weeks later I still hadn’t received a refund or any updates. I asked for an update and was told that the hotel I’d been booked at was demanding payment and because of that Flixhotels couldn’t give me a refund. I forwarded the email from Flixhotels to the hotel concerned.
The hotel concerned categorically denied they were demanding payment! The hotel further stated that their local government had issued an order to all local hotels, travel agencies and airlines directing them to grant a full refund with no penalties or fees to all guests who were scheduled for that timeframe. I then forwarded the hotel’s email to Flixhotels who said they would review the entire booking cancelation process and get back to me as soon as possible.
Again, weeks went by with no refund and no updates. Again a contacted Flixhotels asking for an update. Flixhotels responded now saying they couldn’t give me a refund not because the hotel was demanding payment, but that some of their “partners” were demanding payment and that because of this they couldn’t give me a refund. Flixhotels never identified who their “partners” were and typed the word “concluded” at the end of their last correspondence.
What I’ve outlined above shows a stunning lack of integrity, professionalism, compassion and understanding on the part of Flixhotels and their partners. And all this during a Global Pandemic. Flixhotels and their partners decisions, actions and treatment concerning their customer(s) is down right shameful. This was the first and last time I’ll ever use Flixhotel’s service.
I spend on average of about six months of each year working and vacationing outside my home country. I travel a lot and have done so for the last 14 years. I plan to share my story with many. This will include family, friends, major internet hotel & travel sites and least two embassies and my many many many fellow travelers who I spend hours talking & listening with on airplanes and at hotels!
Lastly I recommend that anyone who has fallen victim to Flixhotels and their partners do the same. If enough people file complaints Flixhotels and their partners will find themselves excluded from major internet travel & hotels sites and possibly “flagged” for bad business practices at embassies! Embassies have a lot to say about who can do business with their citizens both internationally and domestically in their own country via Department Of Commerce. Also keep an eye out for any lawsuits that your home countries Attorney General might file against companies like Flixhotels and their partners!

My husband asked them to cancel our hotel only if it was a free option.
So they cancel it by them self But it was not free option. So we ask why they cancelled it
But now we didn't hear anything from them. I going to ask my credit card company to get it back.

For Europeans customer you can also can go to your own European Customer Centre. They speak your own language and now all the law rules.

we booked for a hotel in Sri Lanka. Obviously with what’s gone on with Corona Viris, we could not visit. Agoda gave us an instant refund.
This company are blaming a third party who they have allegedly paid.
We have spoken to the hotel direct. They have had no money from Flix. If they had, they said they would have authorised a refund.
Over the last few weeks we’ve had replied to emails from Flix, saying they can’t refund. I have no idea why, other than they are on current evidence, scammers.

Due to the corona crisis, there are no planes and all hotels are closed. Ryanair cancelled our flight and they will give our money back. Flix hotels told us they have paid the whole amount of 2114 euros!! to the hotel. I called the hotel, they know nothing about a payment. Dont book at this website!!!

Made a booking on the 5th of March after a search on Trivago.
New York for 6 nights. After payment they had in small print an additional cost of 40$ per night in service charge. They did not inform about this at all before the payment was made.
I instantly contacted them to try to cancel as I would not have booked if I knew the additional cost. They refused.
Now the hotel is closed down the hole of May do to Covid 19. We was supposed to go mid May. I contacted the hotel about this and the canceled with no fee.
But this scam firm still won't return my money. The say that I don't get the money as I did not book with free cancellation.
But the hotel already told me that they canceled free of charge.
I'm going to make a police report on this firm as they with full intent mislead customers with bogus prices and scam you to keep the money.
I don't understand how a firm like this can be aloud to continue when the don't follow laws and regulations.

We booked a hotel using our CREDIT CARD to charge and ended up cancelling it. They immediately sent us the cancellation confirmation, then asked us for checking account information to return our money: SWIFT, IBAN, BIC, Account number, etc, etc.. Our Cancellation #: 210164.
We contacted them twice and requested that they credit our credit card. They never responded and never refunded our money. We ended up contacting our credit card company disputing the charge.
They use this delay tactic to keep the money and hoping the customers go away! Very dishonest practices! Do not fall for their cheap prices. Use other companies to book your trip.

I totally agree with Patricia. I had to cancel booking because of Covid 19. Emailed them and they asked for my banking details to process refund. This is strange, I don’t understand. Other companies send money back to my credit cards. I am also suspicious and uncomfortable with anyone who asks for banking details via email, given that they already got them when I made the booking.
It has been a week, so I have sent a second message asking why they haven’t refunded. There is no answer. They stopped communication. I am not hopeful about receiving a refund although my booking had free cancellation option:(((((

Making the booking itself was very easy and unproblematic and I would generally give 4 stars for this. But the payment of the refund is making me nervous. Now what do I do!
