Volvo Car Financial Services - LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE
After 11 years, I decided to purchase a Volvo, and I absolutely love the vehicle. Unfortunately, my experience with Volvo Car Financial Services has been extremely disappointing. I contacted customer service to move my monthly payment date closer to the end of the month since I am paid once a month at month-end. I was not informed that there were only two payment date options available, and instead my due date was changed to the 3rd of every month—the worst possible timing for my financial situation. To make matters worse, I was then told that their system only allows a payment date change one time, meaning I can no longer request a different due date. This policy is inflexible and does not put the customer first. The lack of flexibility and customer service has left me extremely frustrated. I am now considering refinancing with another financial institution that offers better customer support and more reasonable payment options. I love my Volvo, but I cannot recommend Volvo Car Financial Services based on my experience.
Don’t trust Volvo Roadside to help you out
I have owned a Volvo XC40 and generally expected a premium ownership experience, particularly when it came to roadside assistance and customer support.
Unfortunately, my experience following a warranty-related breakdown was extremely disappointing.
In January 2026, my vehicle suffered a fault while under warranty while parked in the garage of my suburban home. During the recovery process, I was advised that I may be required to contribute approximately $1,500-$2,500 towards towing costs due to an assessment that specialised equipment may be required. Given the significant amount involved, I sought clarification regarding the basis for that assessment and the relevant policy provisions.
What followed was almost five months of correspondence between Volvo Customer Care, Volvo Car Australia and Roadside Assistance.
During that time I experienced:
• Repeated referrals between different teams, with no clear ownership of the issue.
• Long periods without substantive responses.
• Multiple misunderstandings of the nature of my complaint.
• Changing explanations regarding why additional towing costs may apply.
• No written assessment being provided despite repeated requests.
Throughout the process, I struggled to understand how a vehicle located at a standard suburban residence could attract such a significant potential customer contribution, particularly when no written assessment was ultimately available.
The final position communicated by Volvo was that the decision was based on a verbal assessment undertaken at the time of the incident and that no written assessment or record was available.
While I accept that Volvo is entitled to make its own decision regarding goodwill or policy interpretation, I was disappointed that the broader concerns regarding process, communication and customer experience were never meaningfully addressed.
The most disappointing aspect is not the outcome itself, but the loss of confidence it created. Following a warranty-related breakdown and almost five months of attempting to obtain clarity, I no longer have confidence that Volvo would look after me appropriately if a similar situation occurred again.
Prospective customers should understand that my concerns relate not only to roadside assistance, but also to the way the subsequent complaint was handled. In my view, the complaint handling process was ultimately more disappointing than the original incident itself.
Aftercare team ?????
Aftercare team ?????
What a joke 9 calls so far and I still have a my new xc90 on my holiday cottage drive, no courtesy car in sight and no one willing to sort it out, aftercare team response is to end the call or keep transferring me to enterprise who don't have a car for me ? Hey i know this could be a bit out of…
Hey i know this could be a bit out of the ordinary but has anyone else had a bad experience with the vehicle on the disability scheme? be interesting to hear from anyone. thank you
Thank you to Haley Volvo Cars Richmond
Thank you to Haley Volvo Cars Richmond! We came from MI to help with the move of our kids over Memorial Weekend. While driving the grandkids to their new home a "Critical" error message came up saying to "Safely Stop Immediately". The car had to be towed. When we arrived at Haley Volvo (Monday, can't believe they were open) we were greeted by Sammy who was nice enough to drive us to a hotel since Service wouldn't be open until Tuesday. He told us service was currently booking two weeks out but come in the morning to see what could be done. They looked at the car in the am (Nick Velegris, Svc. Mgr.) and replaced a shredded belt and tensioner and we were back on the road by 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. We were looking at the thought of leaving the car in VA, driving a rental home and coming back for the car in 2-3 weeks. We are so grateful! Linda & Earl Oakley

My new Volvo XC40
My new Volvo XC40, purchased in October, developed serious safety faults within months. In January 2026 the car swerved into another lane without warning, the infotainment system suddenly blasted loud music, and the fan system behaved erratically. These issues continue despite multiple service visits, including a full camshaft replacement on a nearly new vehicle. At no point did Volvo treat these failures with the urgency expected for a car that was clearly unsafe to drive.
Volvo’s customer service has been consistently poor, with weeks‑long delays, unreturned calls, and no clear communication about diagnostics or repairs. Despite relying on the vehicle for daily work, I received no meaningful support or suitable replacement. When I finally rejected the car, Volvo agreed to take it back but then sent threatening emails demanding return within a week, offering no clarity on the refund amount and showing no understanding of the impact on my ability to work.
Adding to the concern, a US class action related to similar issues began in March, yet Volvo provided no transparency or warning, allowing me to continue driving a vehicle that had already demonstrated dangerous behaviour. Overall, this experience has been unsafe, stressful, and far below the standard expected from a brand built on safety and trust.
Very Disgusted with Volvo Assist
My Volvo XC40 T4 Plug in Hybrid had to be dragged of my driveway 2 weeks ago after going into turtle mode. Volvo Assist provided a Enterprise car for 3 days that was extended by 1 day after the dealership had initially diagnosed a Inverter Generator module fault with an indicative cost of £4k to replace, (just outside of warranty would you believe).
After a week of waiting I was informed by the dealership that actually the fault is a high voltage cooler and not the IGM itself, and were unable to provide a completion date for repairs.
Both the dealer and myself have tried through many hours of phone calls and being bumped by different departments within the Volvo assist organisation that we have been unable to obtain an extension to the original hire car whilst my car is being repaired.
My extended service plan that I took after 3 year interval allowed for a hire car for standard repairs but it seems anything more than a 3 day repair is not covered, ie such as a major repair associated with the hybrid system is not covered and clearly is not made known at the time of taking out the additional service plan. No sign of my car being repaired 2 weeks later and still no offer of support from Volvo assist who appear to have washed there hands of it after this issues being raised to management by the dealership and me. Absolutely shocked at their behaviour and lackmof customer care with a vehicle purchased from new, with 14k on the clock maintained by the dealership on a regulare basis and being treated in such a shabby way has left me feeling disgusted.
Surely someone can take responsibility for the situation?
Totally disgusted that I fell for this…
Totally disgusted that I fell for this trap and bought a Volvo. Clients are treated appallingly....if someone bothers to answer the call. Generally you're just left hanging.
Months ago, clients were warned of a battery fault in the EX30. Charging over 70% could cause fire. I live in the country and need 100% charge for long trips. Despite numerous emailed enquiries, no response as to when the problem will be fixed.
My Volvo is not what I was told I was buying and I am considering reporting the matter to Comsumer Affairs. The company is disreputable and should be investigated.
I am writing this review to warn others…
I am writing this review to warn others about the catastrophic failure of both Volvo's hybrid technology and their UK customer service. My Volvo XC90 T8 suffered a high-voltage hybrid battery cell module failure last June. Volvo took an unacceptable 7 months to complete the repair. Less than five months later, the exact same high-voltage battery system has failed again. This is a premium luxury vehicle with a known, systemic powertrain defect.
Volvo UK has officially refused to replace the complete battery pack assembly under my valid 8-year warranty. Instead, they are insisting on a delayed single-cell patch-up in mid-June, meaning I am expected to live without my primary vehicle for another month.
Worse still, Volvo UK has refused to provide a courtesy car. They have left me completely stranded with a vehicle that is dangerous to drive due to the thermal and electrical risks of running a compromised high-voltage system.Leaving a customer with a cumulative seven months of vehicle downtime and zero alternative mobility is a severe breach of statutory duty of care and the Consumer Rights Act. I have formally escalated this as a vehicle quality dispute with my finance provider, MotoNovo, to reject the vehicle entirely.Absolute disgrace of a company. Avoid Volvo UK hybrids at all costs.
Wouldn't even give Volvo 1 star
Wouldn't even give Volvo 1 star. Booked a service and quoted £164 to be told the day before after taking a day off it would now be £334. Dealership would not do anything and just fobbed me off. Not what we expect off a so called prestige brand.
Volvo EX30 ownership experience – battery charging limitation issue
I purchased a Volvo EX30 (Single Motor) from a Volvo retailer in the UK.
Since early ownership, the vehicle has been experiencing a battery charging limitation issue, restricting maximum charge to approximately 70%. This has significantly reduced the usable range and overall usability of the vehicle.
The issue has been ongoing for around six months. I have raised a formal complaint with Volvo UK, and the case is currently under investigation. My local Volvo retailer has also arranged a diagnostic appointment, which is currently scheduled for June.
My vehicle finance is now close to being fully settled, however the ownership experience has been significantly affected throughout this period due to the unresolved battery limitation. This has had a clear impact on the value and usability of the vehicle compared to expectations at the time of purchase.
I have been patient throughout this process, allowing time for investigation and resolution, however the outcome so far has been a prolonged waiting period without a clear timeline for repair or resolution. While I understand that technical investigations may take time, this has been disappointing.
I am sharing this experience for transparency and to help other owners or potential buyers who may encounter similar issues.
Shockingly Unhelpful – Volvo UK Refuses Responsibility Even for Simple Issues
My experience with Volvo UK Support has been astonishingly poor. My subscription service didn’t work from day one, and my car’s dashboard clearly stated that an activation code was required. I sent Volvo UK a photo of this. I sent it to their WhatsApp support too. Nobody picked up on it.
Instead, I was told that Volvo UK “had not inspected my vehicle or been involved in the diagnostic process,” as if this justified doing nothing. The problem required no inspection, no diagnostics, and no 50‑mile round trip to the retailer they suggested I revisit. It required one thing only: sending me the activation code.
A different Volvo dealership finally confirmed this and resolved the issue instantly.
Volvo UK then refused to offer a refund or extend the subscription to cover the period when the service was unusable. Reading the other reviews here, this seems to be their standard approach: deny, deflect, and avoid accountability.
If this is the level of support Volvo UK provides, I have serious concerns about ever needing their help again.
BEWARE ...Volvo doesn't honor its…
BEWARE ...Volvo doesn't honor its warranty of the hybrid battery for 2021 xc60. We were told it is under warranty but have been waiting months for the replacement to arrive and Volvo says it has no idea of an ETA for its arrival. Terrible support.
Sincerely the worst commercial experience in my memory!
Volvo's database does not communicate across departments. I had to inform each of the Dealership/Service Centre, Roadside Assist and Customer Care Departments individually of my updated car registration details. This lack of data sharing created significant problems when I was trying to obtain an extension for a hire car through Customer Care. I have to say at this point that Customer Care did not respond at all in a 'caring ' manner. I urge Volvo to listen to phone recording for the morning of 6th May '26 to identify the member of staff that requires extra training in customer relations (or contact me for their name). I want to thank those who did their job in a pleasant and helpful manner however the experience on the whole was frustrating, stressful and the worst commercial experience in my memory.
They don't deserve 1 star
If i could give them no stars I would, i got a top spec xc90 and it's not charged since I got it in Dec, it's been in the lookers garage longer than I've had it at home, I've had to continue to pay it and I've not been offered a curtesy car in all the months ive been without it. Volvo Finance accepted my rejection a while back but still take my money every month, the full volve chain from Volvo admin, Volvo finance, Volvo lease are a disgrace to the motor industry, . Don't touch a volvo with a bargepole. They all blame each other for their shared incompetence but it's through them all. Senior management should call me. Andrew Smith , Glasgow
No customer service from Volvo
Was going to review the issues with the software with my new XC40 but I can already see Volvo treat their customers with contempt as can be seen from the reviews. Won't buy another Volvo for sure.
Buy literally anything else
It comes as no surprise that Volvo cars UK is rated as low as it is. Actually deserve less than one star. If you have any sense buy a different make.

Zero quality
Zero quality! Lowest-ranking personnel.New car and service appointments every two months.I think it's the most pathetic car brand.
