Horrible Customer Service
Horrible Customer Service
Clearly, they are short on staff. My XC40 car parking brakes stopped working which is an emergency and my car is in warranty and these people are saying they can fix it after 1.5 months. They either do not pick up the phone at all to book the service or if they do they do not have staff to work on it. And it is not one off, it is a pattern.
It is same pattern at every service centre here in Sydney. Volvo five dock/rushcutter bay service centre is very poorly managed.
If someone ask me for the feedback for Volvo my straight answer will be no, just because of extremely poor service.
Worst Service
I purchased my XC60 T8 trusting the reliability of the Volvo brand. However, my vehicle (booking date: 03.02.2026) has been in the Volvo West London for five weeks, and no repair work has even started.
I contacted Volvo Cars UK customer services regarding this issue. The response I received was quite shocking. I was told that Volvo West London, although operating under the Volvo name, is an independent company, and therefore Volvo UK has no authority to intervene in this matter. I was advised to resolve the issue directly with the customer service or complaints department of Volvo West London.
If resolving the problem with them had been possible, why would I feel compelled to contact Volvo UK in the first place?
If I could give no stars I would
If I could give no stars I would, this will be my last Volvo purchase the customer service & servicing is sub standard. Trying to get through on the phone is a chore too. Tried to book a slot a month before my annual car service + MOT was due @ Derby Volvo but they could only give me an appt 4 days before the MOT expired which I wasn't happy about, however it has revealed just how bad they are. Two weeks before the service appt I was informed our stepson's wife's funeral 130 miles away would be on that day (a Thursday) so I immediately called to change my booking and was told as it was a minor service they could do it on the Saturday morning. But on the Tuesday before I received a text reminder for my original appt so called to ask what was going on? Was told there was no record of my new appt it wasn't on their system and the 1st available appt was in 4 wks! My car had only done 4000 miles since previous service/MOT so decided to (well no other option really) to get a MOT done whilst in Darlington & managed to get booked in on the Friday thinking it should breeze through. How wrong was I! It failed the MOT, both rear brake pads were illegal and we received an advisory not to drive it until resolved. The fronts were not much better + all brake discs needed replacing and the corrosion on two of them was horrendous. We had driven unknowingly all that way with dangerous brakes! How could that happen in a year/4000 miles? We weren't advised they were getting low at the previous service & would soon need replacing. Managed to get repairs done next day (Saturday) but couldn't get another MOT even though Kwik fit was brilliant they tried everywhere for us. They also told us some dealer garages don't bother removing any wheels to check them when servicing! We couldn't stay any longer & had to drive back wondering if we'd be stopped as we had no valid MOT on the vehicle although we had proof the repairs were completed but it's still a grey area. Car is now parked up awaiting another MOT on Monday. I might add that two years ago when the car was serviced at Derby Volvo it was damaged by whomever washed it on the front bumper which they did resolve but we had it redone properly last year! Once my service plan expires I'm done with this garage & will return to my local trusted mechanic!!!!
NIce cars but appalling customer service
I lease a Volvo EX30 electric car. It's a great car, Unfortunately the customer service support from Volvo is appalling. It demonstrates the absolute worst in faceless thoughtless computer-driven evasion of their duty of care to their customers.
Today I got a message from them saying that I needed to log intothe Volvo app. I tried, but it rejected my pasword and login repeatedly (I keep a file of these so I know they were correct). When I tried to change them I got stuck in a loop and was given 5 tries before being blocked. So I tried to contact Volvo by other means. I tried their UK phone number, chat service and Whastapp service - all were disconnected. So I went online and found a site which would apparently connect to them for £1 fee. But when I was asked to approve the transaction is was £35. Monthly. In perpituity. I called the lease company (Tusker) and asked them if they could let Volvo know of my problem. They said they could not do that.
I wouldscore their performance at 0 but your site doesnt allow it. Definitely looking to exchange my car ASAP for one from a company that can be bothered to talk to its customers. I strongly advise others to avoid Volvo like the plague
I am extremely disappointed with my…
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Volvo.
One week ago, I purchased the OTA Pilot Assist feature through the official Volvo mobile app and paid £499 in full. The payment was taken immediately, but the feature is still not available in my vehicle and cannot be installed.
After contacting customer support, I was told that there may be a future software update for my car, and only after that update will Pilot Assist possibly become available. However, no one can provide a clear timeframe — not a day, not a week, not even an estimated month. I have essentially paid £499 for a product that I cannot use, with no clear delivery date.
What makes this worse is being advised to contact Volvo retailers, who charge for appointments and often have waiting times of one to two months. This is unreasonable, especially considering I purchased the feature directly from Volvo through their official app.
I expected much better service from a premium brand. Charging customers upfront for a digital product that cannot be delivered immediately — without transparency about availability — is unacceptable.
Very disappointing experience.
Don’t use their recovery service
Think very carefully about buying a Volvo..terrible customer care when something goes wrong. It comes with Volvo assistance recovery who are basically Alliance insurance..nothing to do with Volvo. My branch said they caused an electrical fault when they towed my car there and refused to fix it..for 4 weeks of stress and inconvenience while they waited on Alliance to approve the repair.. Customer service absolutely useless…you are at the mercy of Alliance…who also dented my car on recovery
My bad experience with Volvo so far
I really want to make sure people are aware of the bad services I got from Volvo. I keep getting a fault notification from the car despite it being a brand-new one.
They have bad communication and they don’t know about each other. They don’t stick to their words.
Their partner companies are worse at providing courtesy cars and they don’t follow up on things.
I bought a brand new EX90, and I already had two faults, and they told me it is a call-out issue, and they know about it.
I can’t get hold of anyone, and when I do, they pass me from one to another.
They take ages to fix anything.
I will replace the car because it keep failing me.
I am so upset with them, and I will never buy another Volvo.
We've always had Volvo's, not anymore...
We've always had Volvo's not anymore.
We've had an electric XC40 for the last 3 years. It's done less than 10000 miles, bearly any miles at all and the Steering Wheel Locking Module has failed on it. Leaving us stranded at the weekend through no fault of our own.
Volvo have collected the car and not given us any update on what's happening with it. They're supposed to provide us a courtesy car within 4 hours of it arriving at a garage according to their SLAs. They have not. I've consistently been advised by people at both the Volvo garage and Volvo Assistance that they would call me back to sort this and let us know what's going on. Nothing, just lies and empty promises. We have people that depend on us and we need a car and nobody seems to care.
I've been advised someone will call back in 2 hours after having previously being told someone would call back within half an hour twice to sort the courtesy car and absolutely nothing. This will put us at 7pm tonight and over 7 hours since the car arrived at the garage and definitely won't be getting a back up mode of transport tonight.
We will never buy another Volvo, shoddy engineering, terrible customer service and words that aren't worth the breath they are spoken with from a company full of unhelpful and outright rude liars.
Always trusted the brand
Always trusted the brand
Please research interment by rod control via google
Pity alway love Volvo , their disrespect and shunning of this problem is damming
Please please research using a t8 or t6 engine before you buy
Volvo will lag until your warranty ends
Cha going the full faulty erad systems is around 8k . Last Volvo my family and friends will buy
Powered boot struts failed
So the boot struts failed on my 2019 V60. Volvo refused to replace them under warranty and wanted to charge me £1100 for replacements. I’ve just removed them myself today and replaced with parts sourced from Amazon for a fraction of the cost. The old ones were completely shot, clearly water ingress and damage, one of the springs was so corroded it had split. This is a know fault, yet Volvo refuses to acknowledge it. I will not be buying another one.
Update: it’s an easy job and took about 30 minutes to do.
the worst vehicle customer services bar none
Avoid this brand...11 month old XC90 Headlights full of condensation in them all the time! Gets worse the more you drive. Volvo will not replace and say it's NORMAL even though this issue would likely be an MOT failure or at best and advisory to replace. Then Volvo would happily replace them when you are out of warranty for £££ Volvo customer services are hopeless worst I've come across in 40yrs. If these headlights are normal what do they class headlights without condensation? Might as well talk to the wall when dealing with Volvo Warranty people / custumer UNsupport
ALLOWING CLOCKED CARS ON WEBSITE ALONG…
ALLOWING CLOCKED CARS ON WEBSITE ALONG WITH THE DEALERS !
CHECK CAREFULLY IF BUYING ?
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. Quality of EX30 is appalling. Vehicle sold with a dodgy battery that could catch fire at any moment. Vehicle not as described as full mileage now cannot be used and Volvo have provided no timeline or communication as to when this battery issue will be fixed. I will never be using Volvo again and would advise everyone else to do the same. This brand is very far from what it once was and is being run on cheap Chinese parts.
Avoid this brand at all costs.
Bought a 6month old XC60. Noted that vehicle was pulling left slightly on test drive.
Continued to purchase on basis it would be fixed by selling retailer (Lookers Colchester) under Selekt programme. Emailed prior to sale to confirm that and was acknowledged by retailer.
Was never fixed so took it to another dealer to have independently checked who identified suspension damage and wanted £3,000 to fix.
Took back to original retailer who claim they cannot reproduce issue. Despite video evidence and previously assuring me it would be fixed.
Contacted Volvo about 15 times who have said it’s not their job to get involved in a dealer dispute.
So.
One retailer says they can reproduce the problem and there’s £3,000 worth of suspension damage.
One retailer says they can’t reproduce the problem at all.
Volvo say they can’t get involved.
Meanwhile I’m £40k out of pocket with a car that doesn’t drive straight.
Never, ever again — can only conclude the whole brand is rotten from the inside.
BEWARE- FAULTY CARS AND LACK OF OWNERSHIP OF ISSUES
I have now been sold two faulty cars by Volvo dealerships.
The first vehicle had a faulty driveshaft, which is a serious safety issue. The fault became obvious on the first day I received the car yet I had to repeatedly raise with the dealership and arrange recovery myself. I later discovered it had previously failed its MOT on the driveshaft, which was never disclosed to me at the point of sale. When I raised concerns, the dealership insisted there was no issue. Within days of purchase, I had to stop driving the car and arrange recovery myself. After significant stress, I eventually obtained a refund.
I then purchased a second vehicle, which has an ongoing electrical fault. It is currently undergoing its third repair attempt for the same issue. I have had to cover replacement car costs myself and have not been reimbursed.
Volvo UK has not supported my complaint at all simply reffered back to dealers, and the dealership is ignoring my enquiries about my right to reject the vehicle within the legal timeframe.
Very stressful experience. I would advise others to proceed with caution.
Insulting TV ad
Like other car brands it would seem Volvo thinks it ok to ridicule anyone over 40 to gain favour with millennials in recent TV ads. Guess what, over 40's have money too....and maybe, just maybe being on the planet for a longer period might mean you have more experience and knowledge. Anyway, will look at other car brands in the future when replacing my car.
Volvo UK Winchester
Volvo UK - All your promises & assurances mean absolutely nothing. After being told I would be called back (as the Service Advisors were all on the phone!) I am still waiting for Volvo Winchester to call me back for over 24hrs…
Since then I have provided more than enough information (on request) relating to the car; registered keeper; VIN; Phone No.; Email address; etc. etc. - all resulting in? ZERO It’s now nearly 6.00pm and still nothing …. Volvo UK you have no idea of the concept of Customer Service. Disgraceful & appalling! Thank you for delivering our £75k XC60 and then washing your hands & turning your back on us. We watched the video of the new EX60 (by invitation) which was full of hype, razzmatazz & shallow promises… Before you do that, you need to look after your existing customers & concentrate on retaining those of us who have put our faith in you!
Reviewing Volvo Cars UK (VCUK) customer…
Reviewing Volvo Cars UK (VCUK) customer service, as a Volvo owner since 2008 to just last week (Feb 2026). In particular I want to focus on my experiences of having a Volvo subscription vehicle for 3 years until 2025. During that time we had a number of issues with VCUK which began just a few months into receiving the car. In all we had around 4-5 interactions with VCUK during the time and each time was a real pain, with very little accountability and support from their company, which continued after returning the vehicle. Promises made were not kept, we were left waiting for weeks for responses and there was excuse after excuse to absolve them of any responsibility. Even just a couple of weeks after my (then) wife's brother died they offered zero support because they claimed to have sent an email (after previously advising one had not been sent) to us, despite us never having received this. Instead they wanted to push us to the Ombudsman as at each and every turn they closed down our complaint without any internal recourse being made available, and their Executive team refusing to look into the poor and inaccurate decisions made.
After later receiving advice from a Volvo dealership in Shrewsbury, which we followed, we were again let down by VCUK who did not recognise the dealership as part of VCUK and therefore the advice not actionable. How a customer is meant to know this is beyond me!
This led to us paying for repairs to a scratch we had repaired twice. Firstly (£900) to the company that undertook the repair, and then to VCUK (another £900) because VCUK said they found fault, which was not evident when we returned the vehicle to our local dealership in Feb 2025.
At one point they did offer us a Fortnum & Mason (not requested by us) hamper by way of apology. They requested any dietary requirements, to which we replied that my wife was vegan with a gluten intolerance. We then received a hamper with meat and dairy products.
Then they did not retrieve the hamper for a number of weeks, until we insisted on three separate occasions; and after much resistance they finally agreed to a £100 credit (for our inconvenience), of which they paid £99! In the end it genuinely felt as though they were gaslighting us!
Quite simply, despite driving Volvo cars for over 15 years, I've reached the conclusion in the three years we had the last vehicle, that this company cannot be trusted. The service levels have plummeted and instead of dealing with issues in a fair minded way they instead obfuscate at every opportunity, in order to absolve themselves of any accountability or responsibility.
Stay clear unless you're into headache after headache of dealing with this company.
Treated badly, not sure if its the colour of my skin or because I was buying a used car
Last week I booked a Test drive for today at 12 Noon with at the North West London Volvo dealership.
I turned up about 8 mins late due to trying to find a space to park my car. I spoke to reception telling them I had a test drive of a XC90 but I couldn't remember the name of the sales consultant.
Receptions went away then came back and said someone would be with me in 5 to 10 mins, while waiting the sales consultant I spoke to and booked the test drive with last week came past me so I thought he was just sorting the car out, as I saw him picking up trade plates
I was left sitting there for over 25 minutes and no one came to speak with me or check on me.
So I got up and spoke to the receptionist I told them it was the Indian gent in grey turns out his name is Ali.
Who it seems had either double booked or totally forgotten about me as he went out on a test drive with someone else.
Now I am not sure if its because I am a black man, or its because I was potentially buying a used car, and the other gent is white and maybe buying a brand new car, but it's not the way a potential customer with between £35000 and £40000 to buy a car cash and then spend money on servicing wants to be treated.
You have lost a customer that was potentially going to spend the best part of £50000 with this dealership
I wish I would have read some of these…
I wish I would have read some of these reviews before purchasing a ex30.
Today I got a message from volvo customer services in regards to the battery issue, which said " With respect to your concerns about the residual value of the vehicle, please note Volvo Car UK will not offer reimbursement or compensation any potential depreciation of the vehicle, as we do not deem ourselves liable for this matter.
Honestly you couldnt even make this up.
