Helpful and kept us up to date with all procedures

In the first instance, quick and considerate service when I was worried.
The vet who saw my cat was very thorough and collaborative about her treatment and understanding of the circumstances of her trouble.

I have been to Vets Now several times over the years and have always found them to be reliable and considerate.

Vets Siobhan and Emily were so kind and helpful with a little dog from our rescue organisation. The service we got from them and the Kilmarnock branch was absolutely fantastic and we thank them greatly.

The vet and other staff were empathetic but the way this company operates is so wrong. Took my cat in for emergency consultation. Was told euthanasia was the preferred option. My cat was left in his box terrified in a treatment room while various individuals came to discuss cremation options and payment - totally unacceptable. Any cat I have had pts at vets was done immediately.

My dog was admitted to Vets Now for less than a 24 hour period after eating a lot of sand.

She is registered with MBM vets through the PDSA. MBM are a partner agency with Vets Now but do not provide emergency out of hours care. None of the costs were refundable in spite of being registered with PDSA.

PDSA emergency helpline advised me to take my dog to Vets Now when I phoned them on a Saturday late afternoon.

She was sedated, had 2 xrays (when I was specifically told she would be xrayed once), she had induced vomiting and was placed on a drip for fluids and was monitored over night. No pain relief given.

I contacted the vets after her discharge because I was concerned about the itemisation on the invoice (the cost was over £1780). In my opinion, they duplicate charges for the care they give by calling it something else. They charged for 2 xrays when I was told they were xraying her once.

What was very concerning was the conflicting views and advice I got from the 2 vets I spoke with which left me feeling anxious, distressed and confused.

I did not find Vets Now helpful when I phoned to discuss the above. I was told the 2nd vet actually worked for my registered vet, MBM and to contact MBM directly. I refused, advising my contract was with Vets Now and that I had paid them the costs for my dog's treatment.

I asked for their vet to return my call but have heard nothing further from them since.

Nothing has been resolved.

I subsequently spoke with a professional from a registered charity who works with dogs. She thought the cost was extortionate, advising it cost her less than that for her dog to have admission over a 5 day period with treatment at another vet practice.

The cost has caused me stress but the fact that my dog is still unwell and they have given conflicting opinions and advice has caused me a lot of distress and anxiety.

On a positive, Vets Now did admit her straight away and she survived the ordeal.

I received the reply below. I don't find that helpful. I've already tried to phone the Kilmarnock branch as stated and received no follow up.

I don't have the energy to keep contacting people as I have health problems myself. All my effort has been focused on still caring for my poorly dog who I'm having to rehome because I can't afford the tests she needs to actually find out what is ailing her.

I sadly had to take my dog, Bowie, to the Vets Now Kilmarnock clinic after 8pm due to a sudden and extremely painful health emergency. Bowie was later diagnosed with a twisted stomach — a condition that deteriorates very quickly and is usually fatal without emergency surgery.

The team informed me of the £410 out-of-hours fee upfront, which I accepted because my dog was clearly in distress and I had no other choice. However, I was not made aware that the final bill would come to nearly £1,000 — including additional charges like £260 for a single x-ray, £66.50 for a blood gas test, and £149.50 for communal cremation (with no return of ashes).

What makes this harder to accept is that the visit happened at my regular local vet’s premises — not an emergency hospital elsewhere — and Bowie was put to sleep shortly after arrival. I question how necessary some of these procedures were, given how little time passed between admission and euthanasia.

Even worse was the tone of the clinic's response when I raised concerns. They implied that if we had mentioned financial difficulties upfront, we might have been offered more limited care or just euthanasia — as though the only way to avoid excessive charges was to accept "inferior" treatment for our dog. That’s not a choice any loving pet owner should be forced to make in a moment of heartbreak.

I’m not refusing to pay — I simply asked for the invoice to be reviewed with compassion. But instead of understanding, I was met with a defensive and transactional response.

This experience has left me grieving not only the loss of my dog, but also disillusioned by the way this clinic appears to prioritise profit over people and their pets.

I genuinely expected more empathy — not just from medical professionals, but from those who claim to care about animals.

Friendly reassuring staff when you need good professional advice when you are worried about your pet.

My cat took unwell on the 25th of May and we took him to the Kilmarnock branch of Vet’s Now. The team were so caring, thorough and kept us informed of everything that was going on.
This was a stressful time for us, but the staff were just wonderful.

We would like to particularly acknowledge and thank the vets who looked after Spencer, Stefan and Siobhan and all the staff behind the scenes who we didn’t meet. There was also a lovely nurse who helped with the scan too. The lady on reception was equally lovely and very kind to us.

Once we knew what was going on, we felt at ease and we received regular updates on our cat as he was an inpatient. An exceptional service and delighted to have this much needed service on our doorstep. It’s so assuring for all pet owners in the area and I would recommend Vets Now in the event that it is needed.

First class service and charges explained up front as we were paying without insurance

Had an emergency with my 13 year lab and made her so welcome and got on great with them even though my dog will not go near a vet they were outstanding. Can't thank them enough

Amazing staff, compassionate and efficient. Minnie, our dog, was in great hands that night and is now doing well following a nasty injury. Can’t thank you all enough!

Care during visiting clinic was good, although absolutely extortionate. However we received no after care, tried to phone the vets multiple times as we were worried about the health of our dog after appointment and was just constantly told we would get a call back, but hours passed and we didn’t. For the money they charge, the after care should be a better standard. Luckily our dog was ok.

Took my dog to Vets Now when she was throwing up, shaking and couldn't keep water down. Vet gave diagnosis that she had probably eaten something she shouldn't have, possibly picked up on a walk, and gave her anti sickness and painkiller injections. While I can't fault the vet, she was excellent and the service is great to have in times of an emergency, but the price is ridiculous. I was £482 for a 20 minute visit. The consultation alone was £302. How they can justify that is beyond me. I wish more could be done where vets fees are concerned as there must be plenty of pets unable to access help because of the rising costs. The consultation used to be £120 when I had to take my cat a few years back.

The vet/nurse Martha was absolutely lovely, very caring & taking time to consider the best options for my dog in a potentially lethal situation. The initial standardised bill came to £762 but she ruled out some items as unnecessary for the situation, reducing the bill to just under £400. She was 5 star, I deducted one for the extreme cost of consultation - £302 before any treatment. Overall a good experience in a crisis. The outcome is unknown as yet as it requires long term treatment.

Mt cat was seen immediately following my initial call to out of hours.
Various treatment options presented and we were kept fully informed.
So far the insurance process has been okay.

My cat had a procedure and by the time my vet was closing he still hadn't fully recovered from his GA so he was moved to vets now for a couple of hours until he was awake enough to go home. I was advised that if they made the insurance claim on my behalf there would be a £35 admin fee, so I paid in full and made the insurance claim myself. I was confused when weeks later I received an invoice for an overdue £35 admin fee. It turns out that if your insurer asks the vet for additional info (which they always do) they still charge a £35 admin fee, even if they didn't submit the claim on your behalf. I was nit advised of this at any point and neither my vet, Glasgow SAH or Edinburgh SAH charge a fee for providing information to an insurer. I wish I'd just taken him home sleepy, as its has now cost over £200 just for him to spend a couple of hours in the care of vets now.
