Thought I'd be able to 'walk in' and wait to get reading glasses, but told I have to make an appointment. As my dad's carer its impossible for me to know in advance when I'll be available until the day itself. No consideration at all for people in my position.

I've been a customer of Specsavers for many many years but in the last couple of years have noticed a bad decline in service. I had my eyes tested in February 2025. Lost my varifocals in Spain in November. Went to get new pair on my return. Picked out frames. Before glasses were sent for prescription to be put in i changed my mind on the frames. Called in physically to change the frames. Some time later went back and wrong frames were on the glasses and i couldn't see through the glasses. They offered to change the frames to the correct ones. Went back to collect these to find frames incorrect again. Staff very nice but the level of incompetence is horrific. On same day a colleague of mine collected hers from a different branch and her lenses were incorrect too. This is the 2nd time I've not been able to see clearly through my glasses. I now find I see better without my varifocals. Will be going elsewhere from now on. Would definitely not recommend Specsavers to anyone.

Staff member Janice in the Tallaght store was so so helpful and made me feel really comfortable picking out glasses for the first time. Took it upon herself to assist in finding me 2 pairs of glasses, a real girls girl and amazing attitude!

Was 7 minutes late for a Specsavers Ear appointment, (Christmas traffic Longford), tried calling - couldn’t get through.
Used the bathroom before taking my seat in waiting area - staff member arrived to me at 12.43 (now 13 mins after scheduled 12.30 app) telling me that as I was a 1/4 of an hour late “he” couldn’t take me.
We’ve always know Specsavers are daylight robbers on the eyewear front … (a 10 to 1 ration of upselling sales staff to actual clinicians!!), but we can add zero customer awareness or service to their long list of shoddiness now. So pleased I discovered this (again) before embarking on any ear-treatments with them.
A bullet dodged I think.

I was wearing the wrong lenses from
Feb -to December as my contact lenses were not updated on their system. When getting tested for an eye test today the optician confirmed it . As I was saying how the lenses hurt me .
I had 4 months of unused lenses ,
But the manager in store today only wanted to take back 3months as the other box had been opened.
I was treated rudely in store as if I was at fault . I later received a phone call stating they couldn’t meet my expectations in which I never had a conversation about & told me my account was closed without any discussion.
I sent emails to the retail manager in Ennis & was completely ignored.
Explaining it’s affected me with headaches & have very dry eyes.
Avoid Specsavers at all costs .
Also Specsavers replied after this was posted . So I replied to them & they have completely ghosted me stay away they do not care !!!

Awful service, the optometrist was late to the appointment and mis diagnosed me. The glasses I received made my vision worse and caused me severe pain in my eyes and headaches. The staff member who sold me the frames when contacted was extremely rude and accusatory blaming me for their mistake and trying to extortion me by demanding I pay a further €170 to fix one pair of frames only. She then proceeded to lie to me and say I was not entitled to a refund. Which I got in the end. DO NOT use their services they are scam artists and clearly incompetent

I visited Specsavers yesterday, 27th November, and completed a medical form that entitled me to a free eye test, as it had been two years since my last one. Before my appointment, I asked to confirm that there would be no charge with my medical card. I also double-checked with the staff member at the desk as I was leaving, and was told there was no payment required.
However, today (28th November), I received a phone call informing me that I owed €25 for an additional part of the test. I paid the amount, which isn’t the issue. The problem is that this extra charge was not explained to me during my visit, and I had already left the store. The situation felt unclear and a bit misleading.

I am thrilled with the customer service from Bethany in the office in opera lane store, for her level of professionalism and excellent record keeping while assisting me with medical records these past few days. She truly went over and beyond for me.

The lens are the worst lens Ive ever had. I need reading glasses, with Specsavers glasses I have to position the book or computer at a exact distance away from me or its out of focus. Im actually still using my old glasses, I can see clearly for 1.5m with my old glasses. With the new ones everything more than 0.5m in front of me is blurred. I also wanted a pair of bifocals for driving, they sold me varifocals which are even worse. I wanted the top of the glasses to be clear glass, their prescription glasses top and bottom making them useless for driving. Aggressive sales, sell the customer something more expensive even if its not what the customer wants. I will never shop in Specsavers again.

Although the experience in the shop was grand besides long waiting times and over an hour to get a test done my really issue was with trying to get my prescription information emailed to me. I rang the shop a total of three times and gave my information for them to email me and I just had to give up. They never sent me my prescription after three times. Super annoying and frustrating

Had an eye test in August 2023. Given 2 prescriptions for reading and driving glasses. You do not get out of the store without buying glasses, spent over £220. Never got on with the glasses, I could see better without. Just had another eye test, elsewhere. I do not need driving glasses. Reading is also good, I have a prescription if required. No pressure to buy any glasses unless I think I need them. Do not use Specsavers in Cleveleys. Rip off.

Staff are very friendly and do their job by upselling, which is the nature of the business, so gave it 2 stars for the staff. I have been buying their glasses for a few years, but this would be my last time. The price was astronomical for the value that I got. The frames are very flimsy plastic (I got the usual 2 for 1 (100EUR and 190EUR cost of frames only). They keep falling down my nose and I have gone in and adjusted them 3 times now (I need to see far and close so glasses can't be on the edge of the nose for it). When cleaning it just feels like it's going to fall apart....For the prices they charge, you would assume they would at least have a quality product.

Excellent customer service by sales assistant Gauri at the Liffey valley store. She was so patient and helpful.

Always trying to upsell and make more money from you! Every time! Soo annoying! Trying to charge an extra €90 for thinner lenses, so that the glasses will be better quality! Says alot for them standing over the quality of their products! Are they not fit for purpose without this?
Update, 5 days later:
I sent a dm on Instagram to Specsavers 5 days ago in response to your reply, and there was zero response! No surprise there!

Based on their advert I booked for consultation and was prescribed for two pair of glasses to collect a week later. Before collection I was allowed to try and one pair was totally frustrated me. The person who looked after me tried to fix the lens problem by readjusting the frame which did not work. To fix the problem I was required to book again the following week (Weeks never end). I returned two pairs of glasses and walked out.
Too many unnecessary procedures, multi people who you deal with there. They keep you there for long unnecessarily. I will never ever do business again with the Specsavers.
