Daylight robbery

After being confused about some rather high phone bills I did some digging.

It turns out that I have apparently 'subscribed' to something called footbox TV?!
This is apparently something related to watching football. I don't like football. I detest it.

I found a number of a company who apparently run this, called oxygen8.

They informed me that I had 'subscribed' to this service back in July last year, and that it only takes ONE CLICK to subscribe!

I informed them that it must have been my young child, as I would have ZERO interest in this subscription, and most definitely would not want this 'service'.

They offered me a 'goodwill' gesture of £16.00 which I refused.

Why would I want this when I'm owed around £170.00?!

In a world of SPAM EMAILS and TEXT MESSAGES flooding our devices, why should I take note and reply to, what appears to be another one of these messages from Footbox TV?!

This is what they will come back with - something along the lines of "we are a legitimate company, please see Companies House "
or "you have been given the option to unsubscribe" by texting STOP or whatever bla bla bla....

This is disgusting. Even more so given the current climate!

I emailed you on 06/05/20 @ Pmconnect and I will be expecting a response by tomorrow, as advised over the phone and via email.

I hope you do the right thing. I WILL be having MY money back that I SLOGGED my guts out for. I will NOT GO AWAY.

I eagerly await your response, and my money. Disgusting, vile 'company'.

Good Afternoon Will,

Thank you for your feedback.

At PM Connect, we take our Customer Care very seriously and ensure there is a two-stage verification process to subscribe to our services, along with an opportunity to cancel at any time, which is re-iterated in our monthly reminders SMS's that you will have received. This is something we have introduced in recent years, inline with regulations.

In regards to your email, please accept our apologies, we are currently experiencing high volumes of email traffic, and having to work in a slightly differently format given the current pandemic. We are working in date order and should be back with you soon.

I would like to take this opportunity to address your concerns of PM Connect being a 'scam company' and reassure you that we are a registered company in the UK, you can check this out on the Government Companies House website. We provide a variety of services and are paid for via Direct Carrier Billing ( through your mobile phone bill) which we would be more than happy to give your further details on. You can also talk to your network provider for more details on this.

Kind regards

Fraudulent company who extort money and…

Fraudulent company who extort money and ignore requests for refunds. I have been paying for a service called demon games. since 2018. I have not subscribed to this and was totally unaware that money was taken. I have been trying to chase this for a month they have sent me multiple e mails all asking for the mobile number I have provided. Scammers and cheats and certainly unethical. Avoid and dont give money to a company who use these tactics to take take your money.I dont even know what service they provide. They have even ignored my GDPR request for information which they hold about me which I have legal right to.

I was sceptical

First off - after looking at the reviews here I was sceptical to say the least about buying through this company. So decided to give them a call to see for myself. The customer service agent walked me through their service and what they provided - filled with a bit of optimism I decided to give it a go.

Wow it was so quick to do! Instantly got access to to a bunch of games. Some really large headline titles as well. Unlimited play unlike some other services that limit you. Sure its no Origin but for the price I am not complaining. If I had to provide anything constructive feedback I would say you should refresh the library a little more often. There are a bunch of games but I would love to see some nintendo stuff on there.

Charges without Consent

As with the majority of the reviews on this site and consumer complaints all over the internet, companies like PM Connect behave unethically and charge a weekly subscription fee for services that the consumer never signed up for nor agreed.

I have been charged £4 / week since Sep 2019 (£132 in total). Unfortunately, I only checked my bills last week as I was looking to leave my current network provider, Three, and noticed the increased charge.

I spoke to Three and was told to contact a company called Oxygen8 (0333 313 7900). I rang and then was informed that the company that was charging me was PM Connect (0333 313 1612). After several days of trying to reach PM Connect, I finally spoke to someone and was simply told that the only refund that could be provided was four weeks of subscription, i.e. £16 and I'd have to email to query further. This is their supposed 'gesture of goodwill'.

I never agreed to any service terms, I never provided bank details, I never consented for my network provider to charge me for a third party's service and I never actually used any of PM Connect services (I have no what 'service' they even provide).

It seems incredibly unethical and disgusting for firms to be able to operate in this manner. They continue to take advantage of so many consumers who will have been opted into a subscription without their knowledge or consent.

PM Connect undercover legitimate scam…

PM Connect are an undercover scam company. That make their money by creating a really weak sign up page, through some sort of unwanted gaming pop up. Which you don’t actually sign up. It doesn’t take your details! What happens is, they use a loop hole in the law by saying you basically bought a subscription like you would through the apple store. When in actual fact through the App Store you would have legitimately set up by providing your full details and complete a genuine payment agreement.

They then send you a very unclear text message with poor grammar that is really not a clear cut explanation of a subscription.
This would be blocked by most people on day one believing it’s just another pesky junk message. This is where they have been quite calculated in the way they scripted the message.

FreeMsg: U r subscribed to Bounce Games. Play fun games @ http:games.bounce.mobi 24 hrs free then £2.50/wk until u send stop bmgames to 60762 HELP: 03332124617

I urge you to check your phone bill immediately.
They have unknowingly to me, charged me £2.50 per week for 148 weeks. That’s £444 with the vat! EE are as guilty by allowing this to even be allowed.
Now to me this isn’t a life changing sum of money. But it’s not legitimate, so out of principal I have filed a claim through a small claims court to get my money back.

They sent me a pathetic screen shot of an example of what I supposedly clicked on which is utter nonsense and not legally binding in anyway shape or form. It’s known as click bait.
They then sent me a screen shot of some text messages they supposedly sent to my phone, but didn’t!

Reading the review response, they are replying with a scripted message just like the one they use to convince you into thinking their services are genuine. And that you must of some how subscribed. When I assure you, you more than likely haven’t.
They answer the phone but will not deal with your call. They will just tell you to email and not reply in a constructive manner. Making things difficult so you can’t challenge anyone!
Basically they will tell you that their 2 part subscribe process is robust when in fact it isn’t in the slightest. Even worse for short sighted, disabled, elderly or people with children who do not understand what they are clicking.
This type of scam service will eventually be squashed. But until that day they will continue making money from people unknowingly.
Big social media networks need to be made aware to get the message out!

PM Connect. I welcome your response to my review, but instead of a scripted message. Why don’t you listen to all the reviews and people that have demonstrated all over the internet how they feel you have scammed them unknowingly. And if you take your customer service seriously you would pick up the phone. Or even better not be so sneaky in the way you charge!
Why would you offer £20 compensation if you had nothing to hide. That to me says it all. Guilty! Cause if any legitimate business was asked for a refund. They wouldn’t even offer if they truly believed a good HONEST job had been done. And provided a LEGITIMATE service ; ) (just saying)

I was made to tap a star rating to…

I was made to tap a star rating to write this review and would not have given 1 star if I had my way! today I was made aware that this company was taking money from my husbands mobile account as I found a text message stating he was signed up to an I fitness that we’re taking £3.00 per week subscription from him! I rang the 0333 number they quote below in response to people’s complaints (the one they say to call to resolve the matter and get a refund) I was speaking to Noorulain Salt if it is her real name and she informed me my husband had clicked on a pop up on his mobile and subscribed to this company and I said he had not knowingly done this as he has disabilities, he has had 3 heart attacks, has agina, type two diabetes, severe degenerative arthritis and would or could not join a fitness gym! She asked would I like to cancel I said absolutely and I would like a refund for the weeks they had taken his money and she said they could not go back that far they could only give 8 weeks back. When I asked what do you mean she said they had been taking £3 every week since 4th February 2017! Over 3 years! That it had been taken and charged to his mobile phone account and therefore we were unaware this was happening as our bank statement shows our 02 Bill and no reference is made to this company! I explained how I’ll my husband was and he would never have signed up to this and she didn’t care she said email the company they have more Lee way than I do. I asked if she was owner of the company or family member of the owner she declined to answer. I have emailed the company and have not had a response! I am awaiting a call back from 02, there is nothing anywhere to prove my husband subscribed to this scam outfit, and it appears that these con artists are scamming the sick and the vulnerable. I have called the police and been in touch with the ombudsman and await responses, I have called NBC Watchdog and am awaiting a researcher to follow up with me. I am also researching what other avenues I can go down to get my husbands money back from these thieves! I am going to put it on twitter instagram Facebook and any other social media possible and I am calling all national newspapers and tv stations to expose this company and the phone networks that allow this! I await your response but doubt I shall receive one!

Please please please do Not use this…

Please please please do Not use this thieving company's " services" They have scammed thousands of people from their hard earned cash. Even their responses to customer (non) satisfaction is as pathetic as the company itself. They scam peoples mobiles by sending premium rate scam txts weekly / monthly to your bill which sometimes goes un noticed. What absolute scumbags!!!. I have reported the company to the relevant authorities who WILL be in touch. I would advise them to.pay back every penny they have stolen. I am sure I am not alone in saying that this is a despicable scam and "company" . May you all rot !!!

I've been charged with 12£ every month for more than one year without me knowing that! When I called to cancel this service they said that I should have received texts from my service provider to remind me that I'm subscribing to their service (they refused to email me these text messages! and asked me to contact my service provider). They said, we will refund you with a one month only! Be aware from their online contents and keep tracking your spendings and phone bills.

and to Ofcom. I did that and they crapped themselves.Got over £400 back in about 10 days. DON'T GIVE UP AND DON'T LET THESE WASTERS WIN. GOOD LUCK.

SCAM GAMING SUBSCRIPTION CHARGES

SCAM GAMING SUBSCRIPTION CHARGES. My wife has been charged £3 per week for 9 weeks from Demon Games for a service she did not sign up for before we noticed the charges on the bill. We have now cancelled this by text but want to claim this back as this was charged without our consent. I cannot find a trading address for Demon Games, and a Google search shows PM Connect are the mobile payment administrator for this company. Please let me know how to get this refunded.
The process of making these charges should be more transparent, it is clear from the number of people who have complained about being caught that it is not the case. I am sure that it is done is this way knowing that a large number of people will probably not try to claim it back.

premium rate text scammers

One of these days this whole scam is going to blow up, but until then operators such PM connect and the mobile networks continue to profit from "phone paid services"

I've seen many examples of misleading web sites using full screen popups and hidden frames, that when viewed from a mobile sign up the user to a premium SMS service on repeat billing. The user is non the wiser as they appear to have clicked on a 'close' or 'continue' button, wheras in fact browser tricks mean they have signed up.

The stock response from operators like PM connect is that the user must click twice to confirm a subscription, this is utter nonsense.

The stock response from mobile networks is that it's not their problem, well it is as they take around a 50% cut of the recurring charges.
