Sold my iPhone and received my money so happy overall
Such a poor service ! After 3 months no payment asked for my phone to be returned .. no response from this terrible company
After searching online i came across Phone convert whilst trying to find the best price for my Iphone 7 plus. I received the welcome pack and duly sent the phone off on the 15th November and to date despite sending 46 emails i still do not have payment. They will try and tell you your phone is damaged when it isn't trend seems to be screen issues they do this to knock the price down. I initially requested the phone back and chased after 2 weeks to be told that the full price would now be paid. Reassured that payment was sent to my account on 01st December, no payment. Then again a week later offering half now and half in a few days due to "cash flow issues" which i politely declined due to no trust and asked for full amount again to be promised money will be transferred. Then contact goes quiet. Still no payment received and emails are going unreplied to.If you are having Cash flow issues stop accepting peoples hard earned goods and pay what you owe! I will be contacting Action Fraud and perusing the monies owed through the courts!
Update 21/12/19- payment has now been received
NO STARS !!
*Update* the day after I wrote this review I rec payment for my phone* still do not recommend due to the stress and time it has taken.
Sent my phone off in OCTOBER! No payment received yet, at first very efficient in replying to emails promising money the day after they received my phone, still no money & emails now rarely replied to ! DO NOT USE!! initially offered £120 for my pixel 3, went down to £70 due to an issue with the screen which I NEVER had! Awful service, still fighting to get my money!
RE: IPhone XS Max - valued £230. Over 6 months being told I’d receive payment and still I’m waiting. Told them I needed the money for my children, they reassured me numerous times. They have stolen & lied. DO NOT TRUST PHONE CONVERT. Use reputable company! It’s shocking that consumers have no protection from this type of fraud!
Had to report to police, this company is fraudulent, six months later I’m still waiting for my money, company has stopped replying to emails because they know they are lying.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR DEVICE.
I sent them my Garmin Smartwatch at the beginning of October. They have never acknowledged receipt of the device, and have repeatedly failed to return either my device or to pay me for it.
I have reported them to trading standards via the CItizens Advice Consumer.
**UPDATE 20/12** I have now been paid by Phoneconvert, but only months after the device was sent to them, and after repeated chasing. The advice above still stands - do not use this company.
After finally getting a response it seams the delivery company are at fault and "NOT PHONE COVERT"
If a response to my emails had been quicker none of this would have happened, better communication required from Phone convert?
but ultimately my fault.
I have sent 3 contact requests to Phone Convert to ask when my payment will be received for my Galaxy S8. The have had my phone for 10 days and no one has contacted me to advise. Never had such bad customer service where NO contact is made. If I hear nothing by this weekend I will be reporting as stolen which I don't want to do I just want my money.
I wish I could leave NO STARS they have my phone and won't return any emails or letters. Theres no telephone number. I am constantly chasing even to get my mobile back. Fuming isn't the word..
please use someone else.
So now the 4th December, promised payment twice yet still no sign. RUBBISH
I would strongly recommend avoiding Phone Convert. They will appeal to customers using comparison sites by quoting the most competitive prices for your old mobile phones, only to then significantly reduce offers once you have sent the device to them. I sent a newly-refurbished Samsung S8 to Phone Convert, only for them to claim it was faulty upon testing and reduce the offer by around £50.
Their communication is very poor and they are slow to action anything. I created my trade-in almost a month ago, and I am still yet to recieve payment. They did not acknowledge receipt of my device, and it took 2 weeks for them to communicate with me after receiving it, only when I prompted them. Their emails are confusing to understand and it is never clear what is happening with your phone and when you can expect to recieve payment. Do not use them.
I really wish I could rate this disgusting company 0 stars. Please do not ever send any device to this scammer. I sent 2 devices at my own expense (nearly £8) as the Royal Mail label did not work - I wish I had changed my mind then and used a different company.
I sent the phones on 30/10 as phone convert assured me that I would have the cost of postage refunded. I then had no communication until 4/11 when I received an email to apologise for not sending the trade in pack. I sent the parcels tracked so I contacted phone convert to ask what was happening. Phone convert then told me that he had emailed me regarding one of the devices being locked to a Google account. I removed the device from the Google account, and then was told that this could be done by an "engineer" and he would be in touch once the phone had been reset. On the 13/11 I had to chase up communication again, further apologies and excuses were given. I then asked for my devices to be returned as it was clear to me this company can not be trusted. On 17/11 I still had not received any reply so I chased up again to be told the system was not working correctly and I should have received new quotes. My Iphone 7 has always had a case covering the front and back of the device and did not have a mark on it. The Samsung was also in excellent condition. I replied that no quote had been received and as mentioned in the previous email I wanted my devices returned immediately. I once again received no reply, I then emailed to say that I would be contacting the relevant authorities to report theft as I have evidence that my devices were received yet no payment has ever been made. I then received 10 emails within minutes with both devices stated as having a problem and therefore new quotes had been sent. Phone convert claims that my Iphone had a crack in the bottom and therefore was worth £35 less than quoted originally. Surprisingly the Samsung is also apparently "damaged" and therefore the quote is for £39 less than originally stated. I declined both new quotes immediately but I am just waiting for the next excuse/ lie about why the devices still have not been returned. I will be contacting trading standards, and the insolvency service, police and finally small claims court so that hopefully nobody else has to go through losing their hard earned money. 30/10 devices sent - 25/11 still no contact or my devices back.
Don't send these thieves your phone! They've had my phone since 26/10/19, denied having it but I have proof it was delivered. They don't respond to emails & don't have a telephone contact number. I'm only one of many people who they have robbed. NOT TO BE TRUSTED!
Agreed £80 for s7 Sept 7.offered reduced price asked for return off phone .since then phone lost no payment.told payment made none received.Damon is a thief and a liar.end Nov I am seeking legal advice since a threat of reporting the theft to police in Cornwall and posting this review they have paid .thank you trustpilot.
I traded my iphone 6S in about a month ago under poor condition as the camera was faulty. I was quoted £45 for this however when it arrived I was told there was water damage too and this was lowered to £15. The email specified that I was within my rights to request the phone back and just needed to email them which I did.
2 weeks later I heard nothing, and sent a very angry email demanding I hear something about this as they still had possession of my phone without having given me any money! I emailed them and received an apology, stating that they would sort the issue and get back to me.
A further 2 weeks later and here I am, no further correspondence, no money and no phone returned. They have essentially stolen my phone! I emailed again, furiously stating that due to the hassle and abhorrent communication that I feel I am entitled to the original £45 I was quoted. I received a reply from the same guy called Damon requesting bank details and that he would send the £45 - whether this materialises who knows!!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They offer you a good price initially and then lower it to something ridiculous once they receive it knowing that the customer will not accept and then keep the phone. A shambles of a business and should be ashamed of themselves taking advantage of honest people just trying to make a little bit of money.
377622 Not very happy with this service, after reading other reviews I’m convinced it’s a scam, Damion told me my phone was received on the 7-11-19 it’s not over a week later I’ve sent two emails and have had no response at all! Still haven’t been paid and no reply’s to anything so now I’m stuck waiting
Extremely disappointed! It's been a month since I sent my phone and there were so many excuses why I haven't been paid yet. So many lies told by Damon. First he said they don't have my phone, but after sending him the tracking number he found it. Then came up that my mint condition phone has a broken lens (no way this happened during transportation as more possible is to brake the display that is facing up, than breaking the lens). They said they sent me photos to confirm the broken lens which I never received. Asked me to return this broken phone to me if I want, but I refused as how can I be sure they are not going to break the display now and send it back. So accepted the s****y offer and then Damon told me several times he paid me when he didn't. Sent him screenshots of my bank statement where clearly shown he didn't pay anything. After at least 40 emails he said "I will send a smaller payment and see if that works.", what kind of businessman can't make a f**** bank transfer??? At the end got £50 for my £200 phone and it's been a week since he keeps telling me the payment will be done and nothing more has been paid.
If I don't see the money in my bank account on Monday morning (18.11.2019) I will report the phone for stolen and I'm going to report to Action Fraud, going to make a complaint to Trading Standards and also submit an application to the County Court and progress a civil claim against Damon and will seek "damages" as a result (i.e. money back to cover any consequential losses I have suffered).
Very disappointed with Damon and the family run business!
Timeline:
17/10/2019 - Orders 378778 & 378760 created for Iphone 7 & Samsung Galaxy S7
04/11/2019 - Polite email chaser from Damon - very impressed - replied and further response stating no problem - the guy sounded decent and I was happy to give my custom
06/11/2019 - Phones posted
11/11/2019 - Phones received - SIGNED FOR at destination!
14/11/2019 - Email to query update unable to be sent - further enqs reveal website suspended
Call me cynical but there are no contact phone numbers and the one available on open source research conveniently has one digit missing. Damon appears to be incommunicado.... and in possession of my phones!
Recent reviews on this site have been blocked due to Phone Convert investigating or being upset! SO.... maybe Damon and his family read the reviews and this may be the only way of communicating with them!
MESSAGE TO DAMON
If I don't hear from you by 9am Monday 18/11/2019 I will do the following:
1. Make a report to Action Fraud and a complaint to your local police regarding a criminal offence of either theft or fraud by false representation. I will make a statement and am prepared to attend court if required to do so.
2. I will also make a complaint to Trading Standards
3. I will also submit an application to the County Court and progress a civil claim against you to recover my losses and expenses.
If you have the decency to make contact this is the outcome I want:
EITHER
1. Full and prompt settlement of £235 for the offer made regarding two phones as per our contract.
OR
2. Prompt return of both phones so I can sell them via someone with more professionalism, honesty, integrity and decency.
Thank you,
Sean Marshall
