I gave back the car at the Olbia's airport before the opening of the rental office of the company Noleggiare. I found on my credit card account 46 euros extra costs. I called the office and they told me that they had charged 8 euros for cleaning the car and 38 euros for the fuel. I was sure I had given back the car with full tank, and indeed out of these 38 euros, only 6 were fuel (basically the cost of the fuel for reaching the airport from the last gas station and the rest was an extra fee. I found this attitude highly unprofessional, basically they charged 5 times the cost of the fuel,and they did not send me any communication or invoice about that.

but be careful, the shuttle fee is 26$ ....

Nevertheless, the small car w(chevrolet) as horrible to drive, not energetic and almost broke down on the hill to Jerusalem and the dead sea.

I have not experienced any problem, so I can't vouch for the insurance handling aspect.
What worried me is that the Swiss Dollar clerk wanted an additional fee because, supposedly, "road side assistance" wouldn´t be included outside of Switzerland (car was rented fully insured with zero excess in Zurich) and would cost me 500 Swiss Franks if needed. I declined and didn't need it, but the question remains.

I could pick up and give back the car without any issues. Carigami sent me all the documents and information needed before my trip. I called them 3 days before the pick-up to add an insurance for other countries and my request was implemented in time. Only one little thing that could be improved: I had to print again the voucher while travelling, so I had to find a copy shop etc, it should be possible to pick up the car without having to print the confirmation. Otherwise great service and assistance, I recommand Carigami and would use its help again in the future.

The Kia Rio we rented, which is a medium size car, was not available when we arrived and we have been proposed a tiny Chevrolet sparks in exchange, in which we could not fit our luggage at all !! We had to pay an additional 12$ a day to be upgraded to a bigger car. Overall the car we had was very good, but this imposed upgrade is commercially reprehensible !

My friend and I booked a care in Athens via voituredelocation.fr. I had used this website several times and have always been happy with their services.

Although, my last booking has not been so good. The rental car agency was Green Motion (Athens airport).

1.The agency is NOT at the airport. Green Motion "organise" a transfer service... Because we were already in Athens since a few days, we had planed to return at the airport and picked the car from there. When we arrive the guys from Green Motion weren't on time... So it is only by chance that we bumped on them in a middle of a hallway.

2. The employees were not really polite and nice.

3. The tank was supposed to be full (as per pre-booking), it was almost empty. Hopefully Green Motion did the contract with "1/8 level fuel in tank", so we haven't had to fight when we return the car almost empty as well. However, they were to busy and in a rush to indicate us the closest petrol station...

4. The car was in a really bad condition, lots of scratches and horrible noise every first minutes we started it. Even though, the employee dared to say we had an upgrade (is it a joke?). So we didn't really feel safe during our trip. We even had once to let the car "cooling" before being able to start it.

So, I think voituredelocation should selected better whom they work with. It must be a mischance. So my advice, do NOT use Green Motion, at least in Athens. And for me, I will never use them anywhere else. They are plenty others rental car agency much more better.

Everything worked according to my expectations.
The only small issue I have to point out is that at the local Montreal airport station (Alamo), they tried to give a car lower than the one I booked. After I showed documentation proving that for the car they were offering I would have paid a lot less, they change the attitude and even made an upgrade.
In the end, it took only 2 minutes to return the car.

I have been renting cars with "location de voiture" for the past three years and overall it has been fine. The actual experience however can be spoilt by the final car rental provider, that changes all the times. Although location de voiture cannot be in complete control of this, better information beforehand should be provided. This time (April 2015) I rented a car in Rome with Europcar , via Location de voiture. The experience with Europcar was very unpleasant. First, they insisted- in quite a rude manner- in selling me their over expensive insurances, when I had bought all possible insurances via location de voiture. Second, very slow check-in procedure, although I had paid a premium procedure for fast check in. Third, Europcar obliged me to sign a waiver whereby if the car got stolen in some areas of Southern Italy, all my insurances would not be valid. This was very disappointing and perhaps location de voiture should be more upfront and transparent about these unfair conditions. Fourth, Europcar charged for fees, which they were not even able to explain. On this issue, kudos to Location de voiture and Sunny Car ( the broker) who both swiftly intervened. A special mention about the rudeness of the Europcar staff in Fiumicino airport - they are real masters of arrogance. Despite this experience, If you rent a car - especially in Italy- do it via location de voiture. They provide better prices and - more importantly- you can expect better protection of your consumers' rights.
