Very poor service

Very poor service. I was meant to be going in for an operation to ease serious pain in my knees only for me to call the London Independent Hospital to be told i was never booked in. mistakes are fine, we are human and we all make them. but the secretary in charge of bookings was very unhelpful, rude, condescending and extremely unsympathetic for the role she is in. the hospital needs to ensure that the quality of their customer facing point of service is not this poor. i would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Day care patient at BMI Hendon Garden Hospital…

I was a day care patient at BMI Hendon Garden Hospital in London for a procedure on my gum. The attention I received from the from the moment I entered was exemplary. Shown to my room, immediately a nurse (Eileen) attended to me and I was then offered the menu for food afterwards. Eileen came in several times to check and show me how everything worked. My care from taking me down to the theatre by the nurse, by the anaesthetist, and by the surgeon was faultless and, when I came to, the care and attention continued. Continual checking of my temperature, blood pressure, need to drink water. I was able to stay until I felt well enough to leave, although I really didn't want to.

how safe is the Sloane Hospital for Covid 19

Reviewing your reply it does seem that you have missed the point. What difference it is for a patient to take covid test and have to self isolate, then go to the hospital and mix with staff who are only taking temperature test. surely the test should be consistent. If staff can get away with temperature test then why not the patient?

It does worry me that the hospital is not safe. I totally understand why patient will haveto take a covid test and self isolate a few days before the operations. my question is what about all the staff and nurses. they have a daily life and come in out out of the hospital on a daily basis. they simply have to just take a temperature check, but this temperature check is not enough for the patient. Don't get it. Staff should also be given the same rule and the patient they are no different to the patient.

Hello.

We are sorry to hear that you have concerns with the policy for staff testing at BMI The Sloane Hospital. We work in line with BMI Healthcare policy and also align ourselves to our local NHS trust, which means asymptomatic testing of staff is triggered by local prevalence and outbreak. Weekly risk assessments are carried out by our Infection Prevention and Control team to review this.

As you state, our staff are subjected to daily temperature monitoring and we have a strict policy that staff and consultants should not attend the hospital if they are feeling unwell, have any symptoms of Covid-19 or suspect they may have had contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, as well as anyone who may have been contacted by NHS Track and Trace. Additionally, our staff and consultants are trained in, and follow, infection prevention and control measures and wear PPE to protect our patients and themselves.

Please be assured that we are adhering to requirements and that the measures we have in place are reviewed regularly. If you wish to discuss this further, please contact either our Infection Prevention and Control Lead or our Director of Clinical Services, who would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail. You can do this using the HereToHelp@bmihealthcare.co.uk email address.

Kind regards.

1 year ago my father aged 83 was…

1 year ago my father aged 83 was referred to The Cavell Hospital In Enfield to make plans for knee replacement surgery (has been waiting a total of 4 years from the onset for this). 1 day before his scheduled operation (at the pre-assessment) they refused the operation due to concerns with breathing in relation to the anaesthetic. They told him he would need to carry out a series of tests-lung function, chest x ray and ecg which he did and all were returned normal. Last week he was scheduled to have the operation again. The anaesthetist said it could no go ahead as they still had concerns regarding his breathing and that they had not seen results of a lung function test. I visited his GP and they showed me proof that the GP had sent the results of this to The Cavell and had even received a reply. The Cavell states that they now don’t think they are the best hospital to perform this operation as they don’t have an ICU on site. So all in all we have wasted 1 year at the Cavell, we could have had the operation performed at another hospital much quicker. The truth is, given my fathers age, and their initial assessment on my Fathers breathing condition (and knowing they do not have an ICU , The Cavell should have advised us front the start to seek this treatment elsewhere as they did not have the resources to perform it. In addition there have been a series of blunders on their behalf along the way. In one instance my father was called in for blood tests which he had done on the upper floor and after was told to wait on the lower floor to be discharged. Another nurse took him into a room and gave him another full set of blood tests as she was “not aware” of him having it done, even though he was trying to explain he had had it done minutes ago. She stated that it was “not on her records”. This is shocking. On top of that I’ve been left to retrieve documentation on several occasions from the GP myself, which I’m told was available To them if they would have requested it. The Cavell could not even provide a email address for me to send this info to when I called them. All in all, their reception/customer services is non existent. Also, (After the 2nd pre-assessment session)I received a phone call from the hospital from a member of the pre-assessment department raising concerns as whether my father could take care of him self as their were concerns regarding the hygiene of his feet. I’m not sure how this judgment was made as during assessment he wasn’t asked to remove neither his socks or shoes. My only guess is that they have totally confused him with another patient. My father is not only able, but prides himself on his cleanliness. All in all, The Cavell seem to have a lot of issues and I would strongly advise potential patients to look for other options first before committing to this hospital. On a personal note it seems that I will probably have to take a legal route to investigate their failings in relation to my fathers treatment.

Hip Replacement - The London Stepney Hospital

Went in to the London Stepney Hospital under Mr Gulati for my complete Left Hip Replacement. I have nothing but total praise for Mr Gulati, saw him for the Consultation and then I was booked in for the 8th July this year. The Admin and Support Team at the Hospital were brilliant, they could not have made me more comfortable and relaxed about my Operation. I went in and was completely looked after from the moment I arrived until I left the following evening, Yes only 1 evening was required. Thanks to all the team that were involved I stopped using the cutches within 8 weeks and am now doing 15000 plus steps every day. Once again a big big thankyou to all the Staff and Mr Gulati for their excellent work.

"Cowboy Surgeons", "BMI SOS" - Stay clear!

I have been disfigured following breast surgery at BMI Healthcare in Swindon. The op was in October 2018. My partner has been telling me to return and get things checked out due to the significant scarring and lack of symmetry and shape. When I contacted them, the surgeon would not initially speak to me without paying for a £200 consultation fee. I had already spent over £5,000. I said no, and this fee was reduced to £100. I said no again, eventually, the surgeon gave me her personal email address to contact her. I did, whilst providing her several photos of the issue. She replied stating "it is due to the quality and elasticity of your skin". She also said that if I wanted it fixed, I would have to pay more money. My body has been disfigured by BMI Healthcare and it's my fault? This is just wrong. Understandably, the last thing I will be doing is undergoing further surgery with BMI Healthcare. Although I will be escalating via the complaints process and social media. The surgery that BMI Healtcare has changed my life, and not for the better. Quite the opposite.

*Update 09/12/2020* - it has been a week since Lisa at BMI Healthcare replied to my review, and I emailed providing my contact details as requested. Since then, no-one from BMI Healthcare has called or emailed me. I have a suspicion that these are"hollow replies", just for show.

Consultant and Nurses were great. Administration was shockingly poor.

BMI Lancaster ...Consultant and Nurses were really caring and professional but the administration support was very poor. Communication was impossible, I had problems with prescriptions and general information. I was given the excuse of the secretary being on holiday or sick.
Discharged by a porter with no medication notes on my discharge letter or to my doctor. No pad for my leaking rectum. No time to call my husband to pick me up. There was a catalogue of errors from start to finish and a general lack of care.

I recently attended a consultation at the Ridgeway Hospital. When I booked my appointment over the telephone I made sure to ask exactly how much it would cost. I was told it would be a total of £220, which I paid promptly. I later received another bill from BMI, which they said was for the use of their equipment by the consultant. I am annoyed that they did not tell me about this extra charge when I booked my appointment.

After developing a cataract I found that to have an operation on the NHS would mean that I would have to wait al least 2 years for an operation, which meant a long time without being able to drive or see clearly.
By going to The Park Hospital I only had to wait 2 months.
Had a private room with on suite facilities, bit like a hotel room.
Staff were excellent as they were both friendly, available and knowledgeable.
The operation was carried out successfully and I was in and out within 5 hours.
Well worth the cost, about the same as a holiday.
Had 4 visits.
1st to see the surgeon
2nd for a Covid test
3rd for the operation
4th for an aftercare with the surgeon.
Pre-Op was carried out over the phone.
I am very pleased as now I can see clearly and only need glasses for reading.
I would definitely recommend The Park Hospital.

Sincere gratitude to The Park Nottm

Can I express my sincere gratitude to the wonderful care I received at BMI The Park Hospital Nottingham.
The brilliant team from the theatre team, wonderful nurses who treated me with kindness and respect.
Housekeepers and catering staff who always had a smile.
Having cancer in these unprecedented times is very frightening and this fantastic hospital needs to be acknowledged for the wonderful work they are doing.
My much needed surgery was carried out by Mr MacMillan and his brilliant team.
I will never be able to thank this lovely man for taking away the cancer and giving me my life back.
To The Park Hospital who have treated myself and so many other cancer patients over the last 6 months who I am sure will agree with me cannot Thankyou enough for what you have done for us.

The worst service my wife and I have…

The worst service my wife and I have had to date.

My wife attended Shirley Oaks BMI on 6th August 2020. She was offered key hole surgery and told she would be contacted shortly. A month later, I had to call as we had heard nothing. After waiting and waiting whilst listening to recorded messages, I was told that the NHS had taken over the hospital and that my wife was on a waiting list. Whilst I have no issue with this, what does alarm me is that I am paying a premium for private health care and to learn this information at this late stage alarms me. The service I have received is poor at least.
I now also have 2 bills to pay which I have attempted to pay this morning for over 2 hours and had to deal with staff within the reservations who show little or no understanding of our predicament. They also offer little help.
I am currently about to write to my healthcare specialist "Bupa" and request a change of hospital.
Before you part with any of your hard earned cash, I would think twice......
