Scammers

I had never heard of this company, but after googling I found they had a second hand book I wanted at the cheapest price.

It all looked legit.

At checkout, they took all the details of my card. I then got a message that there was a problem with the card and to try another card.

I stupidly did. I thought it was a bit odd, but you don't expect a second hand book company to be scammers, do you?

Then there was a "problem" with that card as well. After I had put in all the details.

I still didn't twig. I emailed them. It wasn't till I had no reply to the email that I thought something was wrong. Then I by chance saw a Reddit thread about them, after which I checked on here.

I have now cancelled both my cards. What an absolute pain.

Do not use this company!

Scam website

Error on payment as everyone else. Luckily didn't try another card. Cancelled card just in case. Just read all the other reviews. Looks genuine website, but seems to be a complete scam and just looking for credit card details. I have reported to National Cyber Security

Scam Website - Card Harvesting - AVOID!

My elderly mum accessed this site earlier on 10th December to buy books for Christmas. I was out at the time unfortunately, and my mum proceeded to the purchase page of the website. Here she entered her card details and as many other reviews make clear, the site just reported an error.

When I arrived home, I was suspicious so looked at these reviews. It resulted in immediate cancellation of my mothers debit card. It does not look like any dodgy payment(s) were taken so we were lucky this time. I've reported the site to the cyber crime page. AVOID USING THIS SITE.

I was sucked in by a good price

I was sucked in by a good price, just that bit less than other outlets, but the checkout page gave payment error messages. I too cancelled my card, thanks to belated reading of online feedback. From all appearances Worthing Books is a scam.

Scam - same problems as others. Conned into giving details of 3 cards. No transactions appeared on any of them...yet. Can't really cancel all my cards right now so contemplating next step.

It’s a scam!

Don’t see how this could even get 1 star. It pretends to be a bookseller, but only wants to harvest your credit card details. Don’t go there! And if you have, report them to the government’ cyber crime scheme.

BEWARE

BEWARE, they're out to rob you. Dodgy company only incorporated October 2025 operating from a rented office space address. The website looks very plausible but is designed simply to collect payment card details and personal data to rob you later. They'll tell you your card's been rejected and to try a different card, simply to get two lots of details in one hit. The 135 'feedback company' reviews on their own website are all fake. They talk about getting great service time and again and discounts throughout the year... from a firm that didn't exist a few weeks ago!

Another scammed by this

Adding to the growing list of people calling scam. Tried to enter card details and kept having an error and nothing going through. My mistake for not having done due diligence! Checked online and found all of these reviews. Have had to cancel my bank card. Avoid!
Having looked up their address in google maps, it’s a car park!

PHISING SCAM.

PHISING SCAM.
They take your details. Do not input any personal information into the free type boxes. Cancel any cards you've tried to pay with.

Also, why is the average rating 1.3 stars when it has 44 1-star reviews and no others??

Same issue as others, when you click the payment link it says error message and nothing else. I contacted by email but lets see if they get back to me... I will check with my bank.

Something odd going on

Like other reviewers have said the website did not accept my credit card details/cancelled them, though tried with my card and a friend's card multiple times. I phoned the number on the Worthing Books website, thought odd as just an automated answering system, then started to wonder... Wish I'd checked reviews before. Thankfully no money has been taken from my card. We have cancelled cards as a precaution.
