love the half tie silk pillow, it feels like heaven and is so pretty <3

When is a snood not a snood?
I ordered 2 snoods, one for me and one for my daughter. I have had 3 other products from this company and loved them all - until now.
The ‘snoods’ are way too short to cover face and neck and don’t stay up at all. So what you get is a rather ridiculous looking neck warmer that looks like a collar.
I contacted Evie and was told items can’t be returned for hygiene reasons, having tried one on I can understand that for one of them but the other one hasn’t been out of its bag. But the ‘seal’ is broken. That piece of tape (?). A seal? Well the two snoods were packed together with one seal. Smart move by ThisIsSilk. How can you extricate just one to examine it when packed together I wonder.
Very disappointed and could most probably fight this under distance selling regulations as product does not fall under exemptions or the fit for purpose condition. However - I really can’t be hassled so I will wash the one I tried on and then donate both to a charity shop where someone will probably pay what they are actually worth…. And I won’t be using this company again.

I bought a silk hair towel wrap at the end of January and I am extremely disappointed with the product. I followed the instructions but it left my hair dripping wet and was, frankly, useless. I have emailed the company twice about this but have not had any response. I have never written a review on this website but wanted to highlight this issue for others. .

I’ve been using my fully silk turban for quite a while and it’s definitely improved the condition of my hair. I do not need to use my straighteners as regularly as my hair is no way near as frizzy. This in itself is better for my hair as I’m not using heat on it as much. Now I can literally comb my hair and it looks fine.....could even answer the door without feeling that my hair is a mess! It is a vast improvement. I only wash my hair every five days or so which, again, I believe benefits my hair as, although I use good quality shampoo and conditioner, it’s still additional chemicals on your scalp and hair. Again, it’s another plus as I’m not spending as much on products, so saving money, and not using as much electricity washing, drying and straitening my hair......bonus 😊.

I recently bought 2 pillowcases and am so impressed with the quality of them and how quickly they arrived. Lovely packaging too so would make a perfect gift!
This is Silk very kindly sent me a sample for me to use as part of teaching about natural materials at primary school too - thank you so much, the owner went out of her way to provide these promptly!

I bought the Starbust face masks. They were very carefully packaged and arrived promptly. The product is just as I had hoped - beautifully made and of excellent quality.

I was getting hot and bothered by wearing scarves that were too warm and bulky. I can't recommend this silk snood highly enough, it's fantastic. Warm, neat, a subtle colour and breathable. Being silk makes it feel beautiful against my skin and it has exceeded all expectations.

I purchased the half silk tie pillowcase and it is not designed well, in my experience. When I use it - regardless of how I tie it at the back of the pillow - it moves, the silk becomes wrinkled and falls down
during the night, so my head is half on the silk and half on the pillow. I am not getting the full benefit from it.

I think the pillow would be best to have three ties at the back to make it more secure and to stay in place.

Also the photo on the sales page of the half silk tie
pillowcase doesn't represent the correct image - it shows the full silk pillowcase and not the half tie silk pillowcase - I feel this is a false advertisement.

I contacted This is Silk regarding this issue and asked for a refund and I would buy the full pillowcase - as the half tie pillowcase is not fit for purpose and the photo does not represent the actual product.

This is their response:

I am so sorry to hear that you have not got on with it but do really appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately the pillowcases are non-returnable due to hygiene reasons so I wont be able to accept a return for the one you have. I really do hope you can understand.

It's not that "I have not got on with it" the item is not fit for purpose, and does not stay in place.

Very disappointing customer service.

I do not recommend this product.

Very disappointing response from This is Silk for my review of the half silk tie pillow case.

I 100% agree with your hygiene policy, which is covered by online selling rules - who wants a pillowcase slept on by others?

I am not sure you understand what I am saying in my email and in this review.

It's not that I have changed my mind and no longer what the half silk tie pillowcase, or i changed my mind and want the full silk pillowcase.

The reason I asked for a refund (and I intended to buy the full silk pillowcase from your company once the refund is received) is because it is not fit for purpose.

- the photo on your site for this product is for the full pillowcase and not the silk half tie pillowcase - so it mis-represents the product.

- The product does not stay in place - it becomes wrinkled and moves down - so my face and hair do not get the full benefit from it. (so if i continue to use it will perhaps cause more wrinkles, as the silk is not flat and wrinkles)

- As I suggest in my email and this review it would be perhaps better to have three ties to keep the pillowcase in place.

I am not sure how to make it clearer why I requested a refund with the feedback I offered.

You didn't even ask to see a photo to check if the pillowcase had an issue (which happens with all products from time to time, even with quality control).

From your response, it appears you think I had simply changed my mind about the product - rather than wanting a refund because of a possible design error.

When I emailed my feedback - you didn't even asking more questions, or additional information, or speak to me directly regarding my feedback - which I emailed first.

I rarely put bad reviews on trust pilot as I first prefer to speak directly to the company first. Unfortunately, you were not open to discuss my email or feedback in any way - simply stating your hygiene policy (which I completely agree with!) without any investigation.

I would like to amend my previous review. I discovered that my emails asking for an update on my order had never been received as this area had a broadband problem for 72 hours. When it was resolved my emails went and I had an immediate and apologetic reply. I was relieved to hear from ThisisSilk and the reply I had was apologetic and charming and they were obviously having real problems with DPD. I was offered a full refund and a discount or I could wait until after Xmas for a new pillowcase. I was happy to wait but to my surprise the parcel arrived on Xmas Eve and my daughter is absolutely delighted with her present. I cannot fault the customer service and I will certainly be buying from this company again. I am just so sorry that a problem not of their making caused such confusion.

Products from This Is Silk make beautiful presents - the packaging is of a very high quality and beautifully done. I have bought a number of items this year and last and have been thrilled. Their delivery speed is also excellent. Highly recommend :) .. just bought a leopard print eye mask for a friend having chemo - it was delivered in less than 48 hours and she is thrilled :)

Why can’t all vendors be like This is Silk? The loveliest service and lovely product - accidentally ordered a different colour to what I had wanted, emailed This is Silk and got a response from the lovely Sonal right away that it was no problem. My silk curlers came the next day (do you live close to me?!) and they are perfect. I know which website I’ll be ordering all of my Christmas gifts from this year! Thanks so much xo

Absolutely beautiful products. I love how the products are delivered with a lovely personalised card.
The silk pillow cases are the best I’ve used. Great quality and I love that it has a zip.
Silk lined beanies are great and something I’ve been searching fir for so long. Snood lovely and light but so versatile.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with this company. The quality is excellent and they offer so many innovative products that can't be found elsewhere - silk hair towels, shower caps, you name it - they've saved my hair & skin. The customer service provided by Sonal & Evie is exemplary - the kind that you will only experience from a small business. I whole-heartedly recommend this company and their products - wouldn't purchase my silk anywhere else!

I paid a lot of money for Silk pillowcases only to find out both went black and grew some sort of mould on it.

I did email the company and they mentioned to use a spray but given I paid so much and washed using the instructions, I don’t know what went wrong.

I bought 4 so that’s a lot of money now gone down the drain

I love the pillow cases, they arrived in a beautiful box and are well made and very smooth. I’ll certainly order more from the range. Customer service is excellent too.

I love ‘This Is Silk’ and everything about them, i’m totally smitten.

So far i’ve bought a towel, a hair wrap, a snood, some hair bands and a pillowcase (love my pillowcase (and my snood!)) and I can’t wait for the silk lined beanie to come out.

The silk is gorgeous, the packaging is beautiful and the customer service is great.

I was recommended a silk pillowcase from This Is Silk as I’d been struggling in the recent heat. The pillowcase arrived the next day with a handwritten note and the silk is truly wonderful. Much smoother than the high street versions I’ve bought before and clearly a really high quality silk. I have already recommended them to my friends.

I discovered This is Silk a few weeks ago when I was researching silk pillowcases for my daughter. They are a small company that I am very happy to support and their customer service is quickly responsive despite the small number of staff they apparently have. The pillowcase I bought is great and I love the range of colours available, but what has impressed me most is the silk facemasks I ordered on a whim at the same time. They have been a godsend in the warm weather. My other masks all make me feel quite stuffy and I have asthma, so although I am ok to wear masks and happy to do so I have noticed times where I’ve started to feel stifled and wanting to take them off to get a breath of air. I haven’t had any of that with my silk ones. Yesterday I went to a shop where I wanted to try something on, I was comfortable to keep my mask on all the time I was there (about half an hour) even in the fitting rooms, and I definitely could have kept it on longer if necessary. They are cool and comfortable and can be washed and dried quickly after use, along with the cotton filter included with the bag of 2 masks. I’m very glad I decided to get them. The items are not cheap (it’s silk after all) but good quality and value for money.

I absolutely love This Is Silk and their products- this fab business offers fantastic value for money when the products are compared to other similar items. The hair wraps are so luxurious as are their silk snoods which will be a favourite long after covid has gone!
