Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service! Was told a representative would contact me for repairs in 3 days. 3 days have come and gone and still no contact. Called and the say 3 more days! This is my only shower but they just really don’t care. If you are in the market for a walk in tub I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere!!

I own one
I own one. Replaced a jacuzzi tub that I could no longer get into nor out of. I'm 83. First, there is the cost of the safe step itself; but added to that is the cost of replacing (if that's what you're doing.) and/or installing. All costs to us amounted to $25,000. I hate it! Let me tell you what the truth is about using it. First, you'll notice from the photo that the door is sort of narrow and opens to the right and inside. Then you have to step around it to close it. A portly person would have a problem. Then, you sit down and wait and wait, naked and cold, until the water level reaches above the jets in the back. Oh, and be sure the door is not only closed, but locked. I flooded the bathroom twice before I remembered that. Guess I'm a slow learner. Finally, you're sitting in a tub of nice, warm water. Turned the jets on and find that they are not all that strong. As far as leaning back with head on a plastic pillow, as shown, I don't know how tall the model was. I'm 5'5", and when I tried to do that, found myself sitting on the edge of the seat on my tail bone. I can't imagine a man trying to use it. Most uncomfortable. So, now you've bathed, (and don't drop the soap, you won't be able to reach to the bottom of the tub to retrieve it) and begin emptying the tub, and there you sit again, naked, cold and this time, wet and cold. I considered putting a space heater in the bathroom for this unpleasantness. And, as every tub does, a ring is left in the tub, and, as a consequence of your sitting there while it drains, leaving a ring on you! All the whistles, changing lights, fragrance and the like may appeal to some. For me it was superfluous, and not at all conducive to relaxation. I've owned it for well over a year and have used it maybe 5 times.
Can't recommend Safe Step to anyone. DeNeece Butler

Refused to refund deposit
My mom recently had SafeStep out to the house for a consultation. She gave them a deposit and was assured she had 3 days to change her mind (as per law). The very next day she contacted them and sent in writing to them a cancellation request and asked for her money back. Angie, the project manager told them that their check was in the mail, but nothing has been received. After numerous attempts via phone, writing and text and after they advised her that her deposit would be returned nothing has happened. They have not returned her deposit and refuse to return phone calls. Buyer beware!

Be Aware of the Contractors
Nobody has responded to my emails so I'll begin posting my reviews publicly. Please be aware of this company and the people they contract.
Recently, I purchased a walk in shower from your company. While my shower seems to be okay, thus far, I have to say that the time leading up to the completion of the shower was terrible.
Although your salesman was a nice guy, it seems he took measurements wrong during his visit and that led to a downward spiral. As you can deduce, this led to the installer having problems (one of many during the process). With the wrong measurements given, my installer had to halt installation in order to supposedly go get a different part. Here’s the kicker though- he told us that he was going to go get this part from a city that we consider far away (not the problem) but he’d be back. So 1 hour, 2 hours, eventually 4.5 hours pass and we still have not seen or heard from this man. Additionally, he had left ALL of his big supplies outside on our front lawn making it so we did not feel comfortable leaving our house and being basically stuck there. We eventually felt we needed to move them as it was beginning to get dark. My daughter moved the majority of the materials since I, myself, am a senior. This was just on day 1.
The next day, our installers told us that they were going to the Home Depot to get a part. They told my daughter they’d be an hour to an hour and a half. My daughter, who is a well educated individual, politely questioned why it’d take so long. They said they needed to shop, get the parts, and come back. She nicely informed them that there was a Home Depot literally 3 blocks from the house. They had no idea. We found this surprising as well. The installers wanted to work later that day due to the problems on day 1. I obliged but honestly wasn’t too thrilled as I had to cancel standing plans on short notice. I would have appreciated more notice regarding the extension of work hours. At the end of the day, I was told there was only 5 hours of work left. Again, I wasn’t too happy about this since the salesman quoted me 1.5-2 days tops. The worker asked me if he could come early so he could finish quicker. We agreed that he could come at 7:30 a.m.. Well, as you might have guessed, he showed up late at 8 with no courtesy call to let me know, no explanation, or any apology. They finished their work around 4:30 that day making the construction/installation process 3 full work days - 1.5 more than quoted- and I had to cancel more plans I had for that day to accommodate this.
One other issue I’d like to bring to your attention is your staffing. For our project, there were 2 men sent to my house. If both men had worked the whole time, I truly believe it would have been completed within the quoted time. Although, this was not the case. I think you’d agree with me that it's foolish to pay 2 men when only 1 is doing any work. The man not working, I was told, was the supervisor. He did basically nothing the 1st 2 days except watch the other guy work or sit on my planter outside. He only really pitched in on day 3 when they were already behind. Additionally, I’d like to point out that you may mention to them that they should be filtering their conversations while in clients’ houses. My daughter, who is an adult, was in the house and overheard an inappropriate conversation happening in which one of the laborers stated he just wanted to get his son to get a girl pregnant and other conversations that stemmed off of that one. My daughter is 34 and felt this was very inappropriate in front of a young lady and in a female run household.
Lastly, when the worker asked myself and my daughter to check his work, I did my inspection and found a large gap where there was obviously no caulking. He went in and filled the spot. I then had my daughter check because she’s got sharp eyes. She found another spot where there was no caulking sealing the gap. He tried to explain to her that the caulking would expand and fill the gap. BUT what he didn’t know is my daughter’s family has a long history of carpenters and workmen in it and she has been trained in many construction skills - caulking being one of them. She said she didn’t think so and could he take a look and he insisted it’d be ok. He left a tube of caulking with us but for as much as I paid for the shower and installation, that should not be my job or my daughter’s. He should have taken the 2 minutes it would have taken to fill the gap and ensure quality work.
My experience was not one I’d recommend to others. To avoid this with future customers, I’d urge you to think about employee productivity, employee preparedness, and ethics guidelines.

High marks for Safestep
The tub was installed professionally but very little time was spent on how to operate the tub and no time was spent on how to operate the shower.
Safestep reacted to this review and Seth came to my house and did an excellent job explaining how to operate the tub. As well after my first use the tub is intuitively easy to operate.

A Total Sales Package
The sales representative's presentation was excellent. The installer was very good in his demonstration of the tub’s operation.

Great job completed in one day. Done neatly and efficiently.
Though price quoted is way over the top but you only realize this when you see the inputs that go in. Its too late by then. U
Will have buyers remorse. So check out other suppliers and make a counter offer
Their markups are 300% plus if you estimate the material and labor involved.

They refused to give me a price without getting all my info first. That's called a hard sale. They have a script to convince you to buy on the spot. They also buy ads to show their "amazing" reviews...the ones they write themselves. Just another corporate scam. If you're here, you found their real rating.

The salesman said they have their own installers. A general contractor showed up. He broke a shelf in my mother's bathroom. Told me it broke from static electricity. Really?? At least be honest. Accidents happen. They Misrepresent their services.

You'd be wise to find a company with a better rating. I've added more to the bottom.
As of this writing, this company has a rating of only 3.5 stars. That should be enough to send you looking somewhere else.
My mother contacted Safe Step Walk-In Tub in February. They removed a walk-in shower and installed the tub on March 5th. It was a nice model and the installed price was over $30,000. One of the selling points for her was the "no-strength locking handle". Since the day it was installed, my mother has not been able to close the door by herself. I've looked at it and it is obvious that the parts aren't aligned in a way that the latch can smoothly move over the door striker to close it. So, other than a couple of attempts the first week, it has gone unused, and my mother has had to use a shower in a tub. Stepping into the tub is a hazard for her. She falls regularly. She and I have been calling to remedy this situation for two months now. A few weeks ago, two people (a salesman, and an installer, I believe) showed up and looked at it. They said the door was warped and ordered another one. They said they would return and install it when it arrived. It was delivered to her house two weeks ago. I happened to call their customer support line again that day. The customer support person on the other end of the line said she she could see the tracking information and knew that it would be delivered that day and be available for installation. The installer never returned.
I called again last week since no one has come to install the door and was told that a customer service manager would be called immediately (not the first time I'd been given that answer). Still nothing. I called again just now. Someone with an off-shore accent answered the phone and took my contact information. I'm sure I'll have to call again after this memorial day weekend.
There seems to be a pattern here of the company responding to all low reviews, apologizing and giving customer service contact info. I expect this review will receive one also!
At my mother's age health situation, three months could be a significant portion of her remaining life. Is a year's worth of independent bathing worth $30,000, or six month, or three months? Calling once per week hasn't gotten us anywhere. I feel the next step is to sue.
There's more to the tail. The door that needs to be replaced is at my mother's house waiting to be installed. They had made a tentative appointment for Tuesday last week to come and install it. The installer called and talked to my mom and asked about a curtain rod. I don't know if the curtain rod has been ordered or the situation with that, but between them they decided that he would not come to install the door until the curtain rod arrived. That means, that she will not be able to use this blanking tub until the curtain rod arrives. I don't even know if that's been ordered or what the status is of that. But I wish these people would just go and install the blanking door. This is freaking crazy.

Wish we hadn't spent $20,000 for this tub. It's tight getting in and out. You have to slump down to get your shoulders in the water. I look at it and can't figure out why it costs that much. The trim looks cheap and the caulk is nasty and the cats hair sticks to it and is hard to clean. Very expensive mistake.

Unresponsive company after collecting payment and leaving installation unfinished.
The most unresponsive company after collecting payment but not finishing the work. We purchased our tub and had it installed in July, 2023. The salesperson said that everything would be taken care of by the company, and promptly collected the 50% downpayment. When they completed the installation of the tub, and before we had passed the inspections required by the County, which were part of the purchase and installation process, the installer proceeded to collect the remaining 50% payment and we were left to deal with the inspections. The electrical contractor was onsite on the day of the inspection and everything went fine - we passed. However, the plumbing contractor was not onsite and when the inspector came he stated that the plans we had been sent to print and give to him were not correct. He asked that the contractor call him and provide the correct plans before 3 pm, but that never happened, so we failed the plumbing inspection. I spent from July 30th until February 15th trying to get the plumbing and final inspections passed and the permit closed. During these almost 7 months, the company was barely responsive to my emails and trying to contact them by phone was a frustrating mission. Despite asking them direct questions regarding my soon to expire permit, the status of inspections, etc., I received no response and was left to deal with inspectors on my own with incomplete or incorrect documents. During these 7 months I was unable to use my tub, despite having paid over $20,000. The lack of care and lack of response from this company was a total disrespect to me, as the customer, and in the end, they just attributed the delay to a "glitch" in the County's system, which was not true. I asked for some compensation for my inability to use the tub, but, because of the "glitch", they said "no". To anyone thinking of getting a tub with them, I suggest you withhold a portion of the payment until you have completed inspections, as that is part of the project and installation you pay for. I do not recommend them to anyone.

Totally impressed!
First, our salesman, Darius was very thorough and spent a very good amount of time; explaining the tub/shower and answering our many questions; all while being very thoughtful, courteous and knowledgeable! The install was an absolute breeze from start to finish! The two men, as well as the electrician were so very nice, very professional and all did an excellent job with the removal of our old tub, the install, as well as electrical! We are very pleased! It is a well thought out procedure from start to finish. Even down to processing our balance. All so smooth! A “well oiled machine” so to speak. They know what they are doing!! After the install, my family and I went into the bathroom and they filled the tub and walked us through everything regarding how to use the tub. These same instructions are even printed out & on a material that will withstand water. The team was very helpful, as well as patient while walking us through instructions and helpful hints! We also received a box of goodies, including a waterproof remote, a nice pillow that suctions on the back of tub so you can lie back and relax. Which is so nice! We also received a packet of the aromatherapy beads, a short, clear shower curtain, a nice adjustable curtain rod and hooks for the curtain, as well as a towel. We had to wait 24 hours after the calking was finished so it would dry before we used the tub. So 24 hours later or so, we all had our turn! It was so amazing! My skin was so soft when I dried off and my joints on my knees felt so good! We all love it! I’m very happy with all of the grab bars too. I could also scoot down so that my neck and shoulders would benefit. Ah! It felt so good! I’m five foot 8 inches tall and I had room to scoot down comfortably. All in all, a very good experience from sales to relaxing in the tub! Definitely recommend this company if you are looking to invest in your future, to be able to remain in your home at an older age; while having safety in your tub/shower. It’s a great investment. They also have many discounts to take advantage of! Happy “Safe” bathing!!
