Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 161 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently praise the staff for being friendly, helpful, and providing excellent customer service, often going above and beyond to assist with frame selection, eye tests, and adjustments. Many appreciate the value for money, the quality of the products, and the thoroughness of the eye exams. However, some people were dissatisfied with inconsistent service, reporting issues with unhelpful or rude staff, particularly when problems arose with glasses or prescriptions. There are also mentions of concerns regarding the quality of frames, with some experiencing breakages or ill-fitting glasses, and a few customers felt their concerns were dismissed or that the prescription provided was inaccurate.

I am giving 4/5 due to customer service…

I am giving 4/5 due to customer service and choice of frames at Asda Tamworth. However for quality of varifocals I would give 2/5. There is a reason the price is so good. If you have a strong eye prescription then the basic varifocals offered may not be for you . I myself found there was a large difference in the vision with the basic varifocals which led to constant headaches and the feeling the vision was just not right . I returned to the store who were very good and it was determined I would need the premium varifocals which can still be a cheaper experience than most opticians. This saying you get what you pay for certainly counts in this situation . However the store did everything they could to try and rectify my issue and would still recommend if your script is not complex . Just consider if you would need premium varifocals . I was refunded the cost of my glasses as did not want to take the chance of having the premium varifocals being done and still not right . The premium varifocals are around £190 extra on top of the glasses you choose so average price around £270 which is still cost effective in comparison to other opticians

USELESS AND RUDE

DO NOT USE
I went to ASDA opticians in Hyde, the staff were rude and couldn’t care less. I broke a lens in my glasses which I paid to be repaired, then one of the screws that holds the frame came out, they didn’t have the correct screw and fitted one that didn’t fit. Shortly afterwards the screw came loose, and the lens fell out and smashed. ASDA want me to pay for a new lens!! I have written to ASDA head office, but have been IGNORED.

I will now take action under the Sale of Goods Act.

You get what you pay for

You get what you pay for.
I’ve always had glasses from specsavers or vision express but thought I’d try Asda because they’re slightly cheaper. They broke after 4 months.. no guarantee or help from Asda. The frames are bad quality. None of my glasses have ever broke before from anywhere else. Can’t comment on the eye tests as I didn’t have one with them. Very quick to take your money and push the sale but as soon as you have any issues they can’t help.

This mornings NHS eye exam with Asda

This mornings NHS eye exam with these guy in Asda Bromborough Opticians, outstanding, from the first to the last of the 4 colleagues, brilliant. Meet, greet, checking in, form filling & initial test, so positive, then the Optician, so so nice, explain all the way through, asking questions around my health & wellbeing, discussed there conclusion as we progressed through the examination summing up at the end in a way that was so understandable, then afterwards having the range of glasses explained thoroughly with all there difference, what could be provided, clear explanation of costs & time scales, all so patiently, nothing was a problem for any of them, including the boss with his helpful advice too. Thank you all so much. 🤗

Will not go again

Reception - Good
The rest bad - too quick for you to decide 'better/worse - told you keep changing your mind.
Gave new prescription
No 'thank you' or 'goodbye'!
Selection of glasses limited.
Plenty there but all too similar.
When getting a new prescription you need time to decide if you can see clearly or not.

Abysmal Service

Ordered Contact lenses on 9th January and received order confirmation stating "we'll email you when your order is being dispatched"
Waited a week with no contact and phoned ASDA who advised lenses had been dispatched 15th January and that I should expect to wait up to 7 working days for delivery (from the 15th). When I asked why no email confirming dispatch had been received Operator advised that they do not send emails confirming dispatch. SO WHY say you do on your confirmation??? All previous suppliers I have used on line deliver within 3 working days. Not happy with this rubbish "service"

Fair price and wonderful staff

Had eye test and contact lenses fitting at Asda Rochdale. They were so patient with me. Couldn’t get to grips with putting them in and out and had two separate appointment. They were brilliant to deal with. Shahid the optician was fantastic and special mention for Saba who helped me with the fitting. Absolutely chuffed with the whole process and the added benefit of now I can see !

The staff were friendly and thorough giving me plenty of time.
This is my third time buying glasses from Asda and I wouldn't go anywhere else now, the value and quality is excellent.
The easy no hidden extras approach means you aren't hot with a huge bill and the glasses last the test of time.
