Evaluating 161 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently praise the staff for being friendly, helpful, and providing excellent customer service, often going above and beyond to assist with frame selection, eye tests, and adjustments. Many appreciate the value for money, the quality of the products, and the thoroughness of the eye exams. However, some people were dissatisfied with inconsistent service, reporting issues with unhelpful or rude staff, particularly when problems arose with glasses or prescriptions. There are also mentions of concerns regarding the quality of frames, with some experiencing breakages or ill-fitting glasses, and a few customers felt their concerns were dismissed or that the prescription provided was inaccurate.

I made an appointment at Asda Stafford…

I made an appointment at Asda Stafford on 2nd January the appointment was on 10th January at 12:35. I arrived 3 minutes late and was then waiting a further 5 minutes for someone to attend to me and immediately was told “you are late” the attendant informed me she would have to check to see if I could have my eyes tested, and was informed that I would have to re-book another appointment at which point I refused I feel that the cancellation was ridiculous and booked at another opticians

Only 4 not 5 because I am waiting for…

Only 4 not 5 because I am waiting for the glasses first before giving them hopefully 5!
Went to a lovely local optician for a great test, and was quoted £860 for one pair of glasses (designer frames + top end varifocals and mid range thin & light lenses) quotes £860+ for 1 pair of glasses !
Ouch
Have been disappointed with online opticians with cramps for Pupil distance and height of pupils in lenses before!

Went to Asda opticians (closest in Grantham when getting some tyres fitted!

Surprised to find designer (emperio Armani) glasses I really liked for £135

Gobsmacked to find 1.74 hi index midrange varifocal aspheric lenses were NOT extra but included at that price!!

Get to check they are good for me before getting £40 off a second pair!
Will add transitions photochromic lenses for £60 so that will be £150 for an enhanced second pair!

WAY cheaper than anywhere else online or other opticians!

Will do another review when I get them stunned at the price, splendid service and spec and great designer frames (Armani)!

Must be the best value opticians beating online by far!
With high street service in Grantham at least!

I may get a third pair different (Boss) pair and still pay less than a single pair from opticians!

I had a fantastic experience at Asda…

I had a fantastic experience at Asda Pilsworth today. The service was second to none. They talked me through each aspect of the tests and gave me time to choose my preferred glasses unlike Spec Savers which is on a par with a cattle market, rushing you and treating you like a number. The staff were professional and friendly and I received a great price on the glasses I chose. I also got £25 off using the offer in Asda Rewards. I will definitely stick with Asda Pilsworth going forward. Thanks girls you’re a credit to your roles.

Very Pleased – Kirkcaldy ASDA

From being referred as an emergency case over the phone by my GP, I can’t praise the staff or the optometrist highly enough. From there I was referred to a surgeon for surgery.

Following surgery, the optometrist prescribed medication. I am now awaiting my spectacles with egger anticipation.

SIMPLY BRILLIANT …

The team were incredibly patient and tried several adjustments to make my glasses comfortable. When they still weren’t quite right, they replaced them free of charge with no fuss at all. Brilliant customer care, friendly staff, and a real commitment to getting things right. Highly recommended!

Pretty grim actually

Pretty grim actually. Got my prescription from Specsavers but didn't like the price of their frames...so hawked my prescription to George Asda opticians. Its been sorrowful. The Burnley staff don't seem to be bothered...everything is an effort. Tried to sell me a demo display frame because that choice of frame was discontinued...and let's not even get onto the time from order....to collection. Don't dismiss your local independent optician. Better service, can price match, quicker.....and a hell of a lot more customer friendly oriented, than a couple of Old Maids in a local George opticians. Lesson to be had from this? Yes....get the best eye test you can...get the prescription if you don't like that care givers price....and shop around.

Incompetent Winston at Taunton branch

Be aware that service here can be very inconsistent. The ladies at Asda Opticians Taunton have always gone the extra mile and been excellent with our child’s eye tests and urgent replacement of his glasses. Unfortunately, over the past couple of days, WINSTON was repeatedly unhelpful and refused to assist unless we physically visited, despite this being handled by phone in the past. This is particularly frustrating as we live a long way away. A real shame as the rest of the team are great. It may simply be bad luck, as we had never encountered him before. Unnecessary inconvenience and distress.

Poor service, not going back

My first visit to Asda Opticians in Fareham started reasonably well. The staff were helpful, and I had a discussion with Andrew, the practice manager, about sunglasses and cycling glasses. He suggested distance glasses for cycling, but I explained I needed varifocals for both cycling and everyday use. Andrew confirmed the price was the same for single vision or varifocal lenses.
Although the sample frames looked shabby, with chipped lenses, I decided to proceed. The eye test seemed fine, though I found the peripheral vision test frustrating because the optometrist, Pragnil, left the room twice, letting light in during what should have been a dark test environment.
After the test, Andrew measured me for frames, and I chose reactions lenses for both pairs. I paid £300 for the test and two pairs of glasses, and was told they’d be ready in two weeks. A week later, I was excited to hear they were ready early. However, when I went to collect them, the assistant discovered both pairs had been ordered with single vision lenses instead of varifocals. The glasses were useless to me, so they agreed to reorder correctly.
The next day, I received a voicemail from Andrew saying the optometrist had either not tested or not recorded my near vision results, meaning I needed another eye test. At that point, I decided to cancel the order and request a refund because three different staff members had made errors before I even received my glasses.
To make matters worse, I couldn’t get a refund over the phone and had to visit the store. When I finally got the refund, I mentioned I hadn’t received an apology. Andrew then appeared and said he had apologized on the phone, which I felt was poor customer service.
In summary, multiple mistakes by different staff members left me with no confidence in the service. I won’t be returning.

My wife needed new glasses

My wife needed new glasses . We were in store so we went to see what was available. Tom came and spoke to us ,asked what we wanted and took us through the options and availability . He hadn't long been in the job but he was very competent and reassuring ,when he did have a quierry his colleague Karl ably assisted.
We left with two pairs of glasses . Great valu and service. So well done Tom and Karl . Unfortunately the glasses are so good my wife has decided she doesn't like the look of me now .

Helpful and friendly staff

I've been buying my glasses from Asda Tamworth for several years now. There's always a good choice and a good range of prices. This year I've had a few issues with the glasses which are mostly due to some specific problems I have with my eyes, but staff have done so much to help me resolve the difficulties. I especially want to thank Charlotte who has been so patient listening to my concerns. She is very clearly someone who understands customers requirements and today explained why I could be having continued problems. She made some alterations to the fit of my prescription sunglasses whilst explaining in detail how the adjustment may help. Thank you Charlotte, if only customers received the care and attention you provide everywhere they shop.

Very rude poor service

I used Asda fosse park opticians for over 10 years. I’ve personally worn glasses for over 35 years. so the first problem we had was about a year ago they did the measurement wrong on my husband‘s glasses for the eye pupil. which meant when they arrived because it wasn’t measured correctly they were very blurry and giving him headache,so they then had to be returned and redone to be honest they said it was a mistake and I kind of let it go but now I’ve had another problem. so I took both my sons to have new glasses. One of my son is autistic and they normally are amazing but not this time so my son had. have his glasses for less than 24 hours. He fell while at college and the frame bent very badly and the lens split down the middle which I’ve never seen ever. I feel the lenses were poor quality very thin and the frame is useless and their argument was that because we’re using an NHS voucher we couldn’t use another one. Don’t really care about that. I’m happy to pay for glasses I’ve ended up paying for another pair but totally different pair. At no point have I had any form of refund the woman on the phone when I rang her was very rude and over all the service is quite appalling. What I’m concerned about now is is when these glasses are made if we’re going have the same problem.I’ve also been told there’s no insurance on these glasses And if they break again, I have to pay for them again luckily I work and don’t claim benefits but that’s not the point . now my third issue is I have a very narrow nose bridge from wearing glasses since I was a child. I’ve always had Asda‘s petite glasses because at the time they’ve always had the best range and I’ve not been told to go and get a pair from the kids section like I have been told at a very high retailed opticians in the past which was absolutely degrading. I’m an adult at the end of the day now the problem is I can’t wear mouldy glasses. I have to have glasses with a nose bridge and pads. They only have four pairs of glasses that are in their range for petite and none of them have this so in January when I go to the opticians for my eye test, I know I’m going to have to go elsewhere. This is stressing me out. I am autistic myself. I do not like change. I even asked if they would possibly put lenses in an old pair and service them for me because they need new arms fitting on the glasses because they’re worn out cause I live in my glasses. I wear them 24 seven I’m severely shortsighted which point I was told they can’t do this, so I really don’t know what I’m going to do. I know I’m going have to look for another opticians for myself and after the appalling response from them for my son glasses which he only had 24 hours if I have issues with the frame that I’m now waiting for I think I’m definitely going to have to go elsewhere. I’ve never had bad service from Asda but this is going on now over a year and it’s not one thing it’s lots of things the quality has gone downhill. The collection of glasses is appalling and their staff are very rude and it’s a shame because they’re not just losing me as a customer, they’re going to lose four people, which is everyone in my household so thank you so much Asda for a really poor service.

Asda Dundee Milton! Highly recommend

I had no change in a recent prescription but decided I would like new glasses. I visited the Dundee Milton store on Sun 16th November. The lady who served me was very friendly and helpful might be her name was Amy. I decided to change my order to add reactolites and phoned the next day. Again the lady who helped me was so helpful and I felt going above and beyond to help me. She contacted the staff making lenses and even suggested tha the sapphire blue shade would go very well with my blue frames. I was lucky that my lenses had not already been started and was able to change both to the reactolites. The glasses were quoted to take 2-3 weeks but were ready 10 days later. I have just been in today and dealt with Alastair who was also very helpful ensuring the glasses fit and checked I could see everything clearly and showed me the glasses changing with using a light machine. I am wearing my new glasses at the moment and finding them very comfortable. Any issues was advised just to come in. The price was amazing and the service I have received was excellent so I can highly recommend this store and will be returning for my glasses in the future.
