Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 161 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently praise the staff for being friendly, helpful, and providing excellent customer service, often going above and beyond to assist with frame selection, eye tests, and adjustments. Many appreciate the value for money, the quality of the products, and the thoroughness of the eye exams. However, some people were dissatisfied with inconsistent service, reporting issues with unhelpful or rude staff, particularly when problems arose with glasses or prescriptions. There are also mentions of concerns regarding the quality of frames, with some experiencing breakages or ill-fitting glasses, and a few customers felt their concerns were dismissed or that the prescription provided was inaccurate.

The optician filled me with zero…

The optician filled me with zero confidence in his expertise in the dealing with the prescription. In fact he said, it was 'the best' he could do and dismissed my concerns. So much so that after choosing frames and having the lens 'marked' up and paying for both, I 'slept' on my experience. However, the following morning, I phoned to ask for a full refund. This was done when I went back to the store the same day. I'll go to an independent optician who actually know their stuff.

Excellent experirnce

Seen on time, very thorough eye test, staff friendly and helpful. The lady optician is delightful and very knowledgeable, and explained all results clearly. We have been using Asda Opticians in Ruilsip for some years and have always been happy with the after sales service and the glasses.

Not great

Not great. I had to have my lenses changed 5 times due to my initial test being wrong. Then was told by the dispensing Optician that they couldn't keep changing the lenses. I kept telling them that I was having trouble with the sight in one eye, but they just kept sweeping it under the carpet. So not only have I ended up with lenses I can barely see out of, but after being advised to have glasses of a certain size I find out the arms are way too short for my face so don't hook over my ears. I had to have them pulled into a better shape but now they just hurt my ears. I wouldn't go back.

To add, less than 3 months later I have had my eyes re tested at Boots and the Asada prescription was way off.

Opticians at ASDA Isle of Dogs

I get my contact lenses at the Isle of Dogs Store. (I use them for Work), got an excellent instore training on how to wear them. Also a fantastic aftercare with a minor problem which the staff sorted out right away. I have ordered my contact lenses from them all the time, they usually take 15 days to arrive but I had run out (my last pair I used yesterday) they put a note in to the Distributor and they arrived today!! Now that's what I call customer care. Thank you Staff!!

Great experience at Asda Opticians in Portsmouth

Great experience at Asda Opticians in Portsmouth. This was my first visit, and despite having a high prescription and many years of experience with opticians, I was genuinely impressed. Nazia was extremely thorough, caring, and knowledgeable, and she identified that my cataracts required surgery. Everything was clearly explained and the process was smooth from start to finish. The aftercare following surgery on both eyes was excellent, and I’m very happy with the results. The dispensing opticians were also professional and helpful—special thanks to Andrea and Nikki for their support. Highly recommended.

Great service from Asda Gateshead,

Great service from Asda Gateshead,
Specsavers wanted £680 for two pairs of varifocals (lens thinning and lenses extra on frame cost )as I have a high prescription.
Decided on Asda picked two pairs of frames (got a 40 discount for buying two ) lenses ,thinning ,coating all in the price £220 total .
Glasses are fab and lenses better than the expensive savers option .
Waited two weeks ,staff were great ,no problems,
Even bought a pair of safety glasses .

I have been a customer of ASDA…

I have been a customer of ASDA opticians Fosse Park, Leicester for over 8 years, I have never left a review before. I had a complex prescription, minus 17 and required thin high index glasses which cost over £600 for zeiss lenses previously from Boots, Asda supplied a Japanese identical lens for under £100. During the pandemic lockdown i broke my glasses, Asda were superb in organising replacements. Until 3 years ago I had always had my eyes tested by Boots but taken the prescription to Asda. Three years ago I collected my order from Asda but found that Boots had made errors with the test and the glasses from Asda were unusable. Asda retested me and supplied correct lens at no cost to me. Absolutely fantastic service and since that date I will only have my eyes tested by Asda. Last year the optician at Asda suggested I have lens implants to correct my vision so I no longer need complex lens. This is a lengthy review but I want to counteract some of the negative posts regarding Asda. Outstanding service and customer care over many years deserves noting and I won’t consider going elsewhere for future tests or optical sunglasses that I’m considering buying.

Terrible Experience at Asda Opticians Nuneaton

Terrible decision to use Asda Opticians Nuneaton. In my initial appointment the test equipment stopped working. The eye test took much longer than expected. When it was time to collect my glasses 2 weeks later the person that served me insisted I should have brought my HC2 form. I therefore had to give the glasses back and make another appointment for a later date, which was very annoying. Upon reflection when Asda opticians Nuneaton initially telephoned me in order to make an appointment to collect my glasses the first time around they should have said that I should bring any relevant documents with me they may want to see again as a reminder.
I found the staff to be indifferent. Some seemed not approachable, cold in fact where as some staff members were more helpful.
Looking back at my experience with Asda Opticians Nuneaton I think it maybe pot luck as to what experience you may have.
In any retail outlet not matter what it is The Customer must always treated with respect, sadly this wasn’t the case at Asda Opticians Nuneaton.

Asda Opticians Corby

After having issues with other high street opticians and never being satisfied with my glasses, I took my prescription to Asda.
I chose designer titanium frames with varifocal lenses and enhanced green tinted transitions, total price £168.
When I collected them I was more than satisfied, I have a complex high prescription with a large prism correction.
They were great, with much better reading and peripheral vision than my previous Specsavers “Elite” at less than half the price. I noted from paperwork they were Essilor 1.67 lenses.
With my prescription, measurement is everything and the service I received from Sarah went above and beyond, she constantly checked and rechecked to ensure everything was perfect.
Highly recommended.

AVOID Asda Opticians. They maybe cheaper but that's why the quality is shit

After just 2 months the arm dropped off the pair of frames. In my opinion the frames are not fit for purpose. Most glasses the arms are screwed on but these had hinges which are glued or soldered onto 2 little metal bits on the frames. The manager would only swap the frame for the identical substandard frame. I tried to contact their Customer services by phone. I basically ended being told they would only replace the same frame as no one else has had an issue with the same frames. Was told the manager at Asda opticians in Roehampton would order me the frames and the branch would let me know when they were ready. She didn't order them instead she chose to send 2 emails to her head office querying the order and even they didn't respond to her. For some strange reason She couldn't be bothered to contact me to query things so after waiting 10 days I rang to find out if my glasses were ready and they hadn't been order. So my advice is AVOID Asda. I certainly regret ever going there

Terrible experience - tried to sell me used frames

Terrible experience at:

ASDA Opticians , Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Southampton

Eye test conducting by a grumpy young man with zero customer care

failed to fully complete prescription - no lens recommendations

wanted 2 pairs - clear and sunglasses. During fitting they said BOTH pairs on their display shelves are last in stock , so, in other words I will be getting the actual frames that are shop soiled/used/handled by zillions of people

Five weeks later , and no news about frames fitted with my required lenses

Decided to request my money back as by now I had no faith in them whatsoever

Had to go back to store to get my refund, dealt with rather coldly, no apologies for inconvenience and no date advised as to when money would hit my bank account

So , please beware of dodgy Asda Opticians Sales staff trying to fob you off with used frames from their display shelves - clearly they are getting a bonus to do this and in my opinion are targeting the elderly with this con

Fab Asda Opticians at Ferring, West Sussex

I had previously spent over £800 at Boots for a pair of glasses and wasn't really expecting much from Asda Opticians at Ferring. How wrong I was! The glasses were £80 and are fantastic. The assistants Celia and Wendy were superb. Celia was especially thorough and even sorted out an NHS voucher which Specsavers never even mentioned when they tested my eyes. Thank you so much Celia-you are a fabulous asset to ASDA!

Asda Optician Hessle Road Hull

Asda Optician Hessle Road Hull.
Provided 2 pairs of glasses, on perscription undertaken at specsavers - 1 framed for every day use and one frameless (which a re lightweight and not for every day use).

The framed pair give me headaches so I have resorted to the wearing the frameless pair which are better albeit not perfect - Asda not helpful in resolving the issue unless I pay for an eye test with them.
I dont see how both glasses perform differently and if my perscription has changed why they wont check it.

Tried to order contact lenses online

Tried to order contact lenses online. Provided all the info requested in the order form and they took payment no problem. Then got an email saying "unfortunately, the information you have provided for your prescribing optician is either missing or incomplete" and they won't send my order. Never have this problem elsewhere.

It saddens me to give poor review

It saddens me to give poor review. I feel this has to be said. Asda Park Royal. The chap who dispensed my glasses used a patrician next to him (just to hide what he was doing) and was bending my frame with his hand. It’s a mess and I feel I’m stuck with uncomfortable glassed not to say that I’ve also wasted my good money after bad. Please sort this.
