Wont refund deposit when no service provided
Paid a deposit for an initial booking and the hairdresser was not available so another reached out to me, asking for more money to take the appointment. I asked her if the price was 52e + 18e deposit, she replied yes and I refused as it was a higher price than quoted in the app (same day of booking and night before the appt). I'm a first time user of the platform and when I asked for my deposit to be refunded from MySalon.ie because no service was ever delivered, they wont give it back.
No service ever provided because hairdresser quoted a higher rate in whatsapp than shown in the app. Only said they would take the original rate after I said I was reporting it to mysalon.ie. Mysalon.ie are quite poor to deal with and initially went with the stylists side, I felt I was being called a liar from the get go. Wont read screenshots, I've highlighted texts to show where stylist confirmed the price but fell on deaf ears. They keep gaslighting me telling me they went back to the stylist and they denied it, when you can see the texts she confirms the higher pric. Half suspect they are friends or family tbh.
App quoted 44e on top of deposit, hairdresser asked for a higher fee and confirmed it would be 52e on top of an deposit in WhatsApp. When called out and told Id report it to mysalon.ie, she said it was for rebooking her later and she would take the price quoted in app, but that makes no sense because Id asked about the specific deposit and fee for this appt. She also confirmed on text this appt would cost the higher rate of 52e on top of my deposit, which in total equals the higher rate of 70e.
MySalon.ie just sided with the stylist and wont refund me my deposit even with no service provided and with screenshots showing she asked for higher rate. From the start they told me the stylist was in touch, (she did so after I said Id report her) and they were never an unbiased party in this, they never heard me out or did anything fair.
Both are saying the higher fee was for rebooking but whatsapp screenshots show her confirm it was 52e on top of the 18e deposit (which equals 70), and at times it looked like she wanted 70e on top of the deposit due to how she phrased it. I cancelled it the second I was quoted the different fee and honestly felt like I was being taken for a quick buck. Told her id report this to mysalon.ie and wouldnt be going ahead, so she went with her story and instead of reading the screenshots, mysalon.ie are agreeing because it allows them to take my deposit. I dont understand why they would take my deposit, I cancelled her the night before and we never fully confirmed my appointment over the price. She whatsapped me to confirm and I said Id leave it.
Completely avoid them, MySalon.ie don't answer the mobile number listed online either but will email you back passively aggressively 2 seconds later, you will just get an email that doesn't even look at the screenshots sent in, they told me they saw the screenshots from the stylist, where she actually quoted the higher rate and I had to highlight the text where she confirmed the price, to try get it through to them but still nothing. They will cling onto your deposit by any means. Not sure who was worse but Ill actively tell people to avoid them after this experience.
Citizens Info say a refund is due in the context of a service not being delivered, check their website. Their T&Cs around refunds are also a little old fashioned just to flag to new potential customers. I wouldn't pay a deposit but if I did id advise you to dispute it with your card provider if a service wasnt provided, they will refund if a business confirms no service was delivered as per Irish Law via email.
Have screenshots and happy to share, just no upload button here. Mysalon tell me they will reply to this thread, please use their reply as a means of judging their character or customer service, as good brands dont do this kinda thing and will refund you where no service took place :)
