Poor after installation service
When gate is opening it announces ‘door is opening’ and can’t be changed.
Gate monitor device passwords and verification codes surrounded in secrecy to prevent logging on without calling out installation company. Hikvision advise this is standard practice.
Meaning each time the monitor is dropped from the hikvision app you cannot reconnect without a call out.
Poor customer support
We had three security cameras from HikVision installed at our home and were very impressed with the quality of the images and being able to view live, and playback footage, via an app on my laptop. The app has now stopped working, giving various error codes. I contacted the original local installer, who checked remotely and replied that the cameras are working perfectly. It's no good the cameras working if you cannot see the images!! I was ignored after that and got no further response. Getting absolutely nowhere with the installer, I contacted HikVision for technical support, who replied that I was an "End User" and not a Company and so they could offer me no technical support. That's appalling, when you spend a lot of money on a system in good faith and then get no help when it stops working. I feel so frustrated, having security cameras but not being able to see what they are picking up, and nobody to turn to for advice on what to do next.
Terrible hold times for a CSR
I have 4 Hikvision Cameras and a doorbell camera at my home. I called customer service for a small tech support issue with my doorbell camera and I was on hold for over an hour. Terrible service and I will be looking into replacing my cameras and going with another company! Honestly the cameras are a bit gritty on the picture not very clear not worth the price that I paid for 4 cameras @ $400.00each

Had a HIK 4k (8mpixel) CCTV system…
Had a HIK 4k (8mpixel) CCTV system installed in April 2022. It's now October 2025 and both the 1TB recorder and the HIK Vision Turret Camera are not functioning.
My security supplier has replaced the recorder (chargeable) and the camera needs replacing too (also chargeable).
Although, in addition to the 1 year manufacturer's warranty, the equipment is guaranteed for 3 years by the supplier. As you can see, the equipment failed 6 months after the end of this period, just 3.5 years old.
I find this to be wholly unacceptable and disappointing and would expect to have got at least 10 years use from the installation.

I would give zero stars if I could. If your purchasing this product be aware you can get no help from the actual company!!! Asked for some help and guidance to export data and no one could help. Could only tell me to contact the installer- we didn’t have an installer put the cameras in. You would think you would be able to get some questions answers at there actual head office. I’m prepared to rip the system out and go with a company who actually wants to help there customers.

Fancy and promises to be cutting edge CCTV but in reality it does not do the basics. Multiple failures in the system that either get part repaired or never repaired. After a year of trying to resolve the problems I am left with a none working CCTV system that I need to replace and Hikvision offer no support. Yesss Electrical can not resolve the problems.
Complete waste of time and money. DO NOT BUY.
Overpriced Junk
These overpriced cameras are such junk. Replay is horrible. Choppy, slow, then freezes. I bought Eufy at a fraction of the price and it works great

Terrible. Image quality is poor. Do not believe that you will be able to use footage to identify faces or vehicles. Set up is counter-intuitive. Locked out of cameras and passwords inaccessible. An expensive mistake.

The products are faulty from the day they are installed and no matter what you do in terms of firmware updates and trying to find an answer to recurring issues like for example "PTZ Preset names dont synchronize" is almost impossible because the company prides itself in the UK on not supporting customers but only installers. However even local installers complain about the company because their support especially in the UK and Ireland is atrocious
If you're in a position where you considering a CCTV system make sure that it is not a Hikvision system for the recorder and for the cameras themselves

Having thought Hikvision was a quality company I find the company couldn't care less about the end user. Ive purchased a number of Hikvision products but keep having problems with their DVR units , on calling them all they say is contact your installer !!! Not helpful at all to the End user !!

Whereas the online videos show how, my interface isn't the same as the videos. So, frustrating yes, beyond belief! You shouldn't need a password to change so simple of a feature. So i can't recognize faces in black and white, so defeats the whole purpose of a security camera. 2 stars!

I previously left a positive review of Hikvision technical support even though I waited on hold for 40 minutes. I am now downgrading their rating. As of 8/1/2025, all tech support will only be available via email. As of today, tech support is supposed to be available by phone.
As of now, I have been on hold for 1 hour and 40 minutes on 3 different phone lines.
This is not customer service. I changed from Hikvision years ago because of poor customer support, but a security system salesman convinced me it’s better now. Big mistake. Avoid this company.
I feel like throwing the DVR away and buying a new one again.
I do NOT recommend Hikvision.
This is an addendum to my review above:
I tried calling tech support a little while later and this time I selected the option for professional/installer. After 10 minutes, someone picked up and he was able to resolve my problem with my DVR/Software. There was no issue regarding me being an end user.
Bottom line, Tech support is ok IF you are able to get through to them. After August 1, 2025 when there is no more phone tech support, I have no idea how that will be any better.

I contacted them for support. They sent me a generic template. I said that it was not helpful at all, they replied with the same generic template.
You cannot show more indifference and disregard than that. I would certainly not invest any money in a company that behaves like this having some many better options out there.
Buyer beware
Just installed this product took a week to get the app to get alerts, and record sound and hear sound.
Not it only lets me run on 20% alert settings without a fly setting it off and it wont pick up someone walking in front of the camara.
Support could not answer it and basically said google it. Wtf garbage waster of 600 bucks
I would have given this five stars when…
I would have given this five stars when we first got it installed about four years ago…it was ultra reliable. They changed to a new app which is dreadful..for example if you rewind to check footage, parts of video missing and even a person morphing into two people like some sort of ghost person.
