Compensation Claim for Stolen Checked Baggage (€900 Loss)
I traveled from Firenze Villa Costanza to Trieste on 12 August 2025 on bus 540, scheduled at 15:50 (departed at 18:20). Upon arrival in Trieste, I found that my checked luggage was stolen. A fellow passenger and her father witnessed a man removing it during a stop. The bus driver later admitted the luggage compartment had been left open. I filed a police report, and the bag is easily identifiable due to unique stickers. Total estimated value: €900.
I’ve tried submitting this through the lost item form 6 times, but it failed each time. Following numerous phone calls with FlixBus, I was finally able to submit the lost item form. I have since received the following response: "Sorry, but we could not find your item. It can be that it was taken by another passenger or handed over to a public lost & found office. We ask for your understanding.". My bag was stolen and I have proves. I ask for a refund of my stolen items. I would like to formally report that my bag was stolen during my journey, and I have evidence supporting this claim. Considering the circumstances and the value of the stolen belongings, I requested full reimbursement for my losses. Only after publicly disclosing the situation did I receive a response from FlixBus offering €200 in compensation—an amount corresponding to merely 22% of the total damages suffered.

Stay away from this carrier!
This is absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had with a bus company!
• Buses being an hour late, or “ghost” buses that never arrive, but the link shows that they have already departed and/or are still on their way? Easily!
• The drivers and their assistants that don’t speak a single word of English? Absolutely!
• Getting very rude and aggressive when you ask them for a proper explanation or any help? Followed by a derogatory speech in Italian about where you can go with your pathetic complaints? You’ve got it!
• No refund for “ghost” bus tickets? SICURAMENTE, NESSUN RIMBORSO PER TE!
I cannot imagine how these scammers stay in business. Never again!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SINCE FLIXBUS SUDDENLY DECIDED TO REACH OUT:
There were three of us. We were supposed to go from Ljubljana, Slovenia, to Trieste, Italy, on February 13, 2026 (09:15 - 10:50). We arrived at the Ljubljana bus station 15 minutes before departure, only to find out that our bus was going to be late. When it finally arrived, the staff didn't let us board, claiming that it was not OUR bus (the electronic tableau stated otherwise). Our further inquiries about what we should do and where our bus was were met with hostility, gibberish, and curses.
FEBRUARY 17 UPDATE:
Customer service agent wrote: "In accordance with our Terms and Conditions, your ticket is eligible for refund consideration. However, refunds are issued after deducting the applicable processing fee of 15 EUR per ride and per passenger.
Unfortunately, in this case, the processing fee exceeds the price of your ticket. As a result, the remaining amount is insufficient to issue a refund, and we are unable to provide refund. We understand this may be disappointing, and we truly regret that we are not able to offer more in this situation."
So, I stand by my words: "Scammers! Never again!"

The worst customer service
I contacted FlixBus customer service before booking to confirm whether I could travel with my cat. The agent explicitly said it would be allowed.
On the day of travel, I was denied boarding. FlixBus now refuses a refund, hiding behind policy and ignoring the incorrect advice given at the point of sale.
I incurred additional costs and was left stranded. Support has repeated template responses and refused escalation.
This is misrepresentation of service and extremely poor customer care.

Bus from Leipzig( Germany ) to Bologna (Italy) direct drive, 5 short stops in important German cities. Excellent driver! Completely satisfied because the bus left and arrived at due time.

I lost the train for Berlin.
When I was in Verona I toke a bus for Berlin. FlixBus had a good price and i bought a ticket for Berlin.
The bus arrived 40 minutes late in Verona. But I arrived in Prague early for the other bus. The trip was cool, it was my first time with FlixBus. There is a point for information in Verona train Station.
In Prague the bus arrived on time, I toke that and I went to Berlin. Thank you!
