I enjoy my Debenhams card. I have had my card a long time now, with no complaints. They have stopped payments immediately when I have asked them, either when I don’t recognise them or made a... See more

Greediest, sneakiest credit card company I've ever had (and I've had a few). 3 balance transfers, one 12mth due 3rd May 2024, one 3mth due 3rd Jan and one 3mth due 3rd Dec. Trying to be proactive I made payments to nigh on clear the one due for 3rd Dec but when I've checked my statement produced on 3rd Dec they've applied all of the funds (£500+) to the May 2024 one. They refuse to move the intended funds saying it's clearly in the terms, which it is not (obvs to get the 38% interest since my account would now have been completely interest free). If you wish to clear your funds like I did you're better off waiting until it hits your account otherwise you will be penalised & still be charged interest. What a disgustingly, sly trick to squeeze money from rheir customers by cheating them and ripping their eyes out. Zero customer service either, complaint most likely fell on deaf ears so will go to FOS. Had the card for years but once its paid the account will be getting closed, not getting anymore out of me. Robbing Bs. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, EVEN IT'S YOUR ONLY OPTION AS THEY WILL BE YOUR DEMISE.
This is one of the worst credit card you can ever have . They charge interest even if you pay the purchased amount within one month .
Have had an absolute nightmare trying to cancel this credit card, online chat useless, operators just keep repeating themselves and don't listen to what you're asking, account balance paid off and account closed, still says I owe £9.75 in interest fees, latest chat now says I don't owe anything.....complete mess!
Absolutely appalling regarding customer service and complaints regarding account closure. Wasting time and money calling their customer service department within the times advertised on both the Debenhams and NewDay website. Same 'screen snipped' and emailed to their complaints department. No thanks and no apology or accountability. No responses and then calling them at further time and expense to chase something which should never have happened in the first place. The customer is never right is perceived. What an insult also to not only me, but the previous good name of Debenhams. Unfortunately now, in name only. Having just called their complaints department I realise that they do not deserve any patronage in any company they administer for. No honour or humility!
Absolute shambles getting refunded. So much so I won’t ever deal with them again. I ordered 4 items, 2 delivered by Evri and returned by Evri, 2 delivered by DPD but returned through Royal Mail. The Evri ones were refunded immediately the ones by Royal Mail (but not Royal Mails fault as they got to warehouse a couple of days after posting) have not been refunded until I kicked up a fuss via messenger 12/13 days later even though I knew the company had got them! One way of Debenhams making money via interest on MY money!
Please don’t use this company they are not reliable with poor. Ustomer service!
Item not delivered by evri & returned after 1 attempt
Hi ,
I recently placed an order with Debenhams which was delivered on time but was stolen as the delivery was not done in a safe place.i contacted Debenhams team Via Instagram and the customer service representative agreed to refund or resend my order.
I was very satisfied with the response the customer service team especially Logan for processing my refund and resend and all others (naqaush, laython,Shamim,Tunisanf Chelsea)for handling my query.
Absolutely ridiculous waiting times. Why did i apply for a Debenhams credit card.
Every reputable company have a good number of staff to deal with customers but these people are a complete joke. There are many other good credit card companies so stay clear of Debenhams credit card!
Utterly useless service when trying to speak to someone when they are at fault.
Worse credit cards greedy company Debenhams so think twice before take a credit card with them
Excellent customer service in such difficult times
1-2 year ago i took out a Debenhams credit card. To cut a long story short, I had just spend 12 months in hospitals with parents whom both passed, my mum was in a vegetative state for 3 month, dad was on machines for longer. Here i took out a debenhams credit card and borrowed £400..Months in, I discovered my direct debit was cancelled. My wife didn't recognise 'newday'(we borrowed from debenhams) on our joint account while i was ill/busy, and cancelled the direct debit to newday(£15 a month) i didn't know she had done this, so, i just setup a new direct debit .....Now Having a breakdown myself, I went to a bag of depressed nerves full of anxiety and i couldn't communicate with people properly, answer mail, even go-to the shop...Two months later i opened a random letter (piles to go through) and by now my account was defaulted, debt was increased by hundreds of pounds making my debt un affordable and it was either pay all now or court ---- it was a case of powerlessly wait for a CCJ even though i desperately wanted to just pay what i could afford (the original min payments).......Newday, since this event, my sister broke down and i come back to life - i had to, i have her baby full time, shes broken down like i did but worse.....Waking up from a breakdown, i have a CCJ, twice the bebt i would of ever borrowed and they demand more than i can afford leaving me broke every week, my credit file has gone from 950 to less than 200, Lloyds cancelled my account when they heard, i cannot get any accounts, cars, loans, credit cards, phones, or a house and at 34 years old, after 16 years of 60 hour weeks in factories at min wage, any hope of a mortgage in the future (before i die) and for my new family is destroyed.......My life is living hell and this is my future......Newday have destroyed my life and all i can do is sit out each day that feels like a year - I am documenting it - the truth of real life with newday, im going reveal how each day felt leading up to the ccj, how i was desperate to pay the original min payment to newday and denied, how I was pushed to it's limits and then how i have suffered since the CCJ.....This is going on every social platform in history and this story is going to any and every company that newday have every provided for and to, and on every social page of any company that uses newday - it is going everywhere i can put it....i sit in my house every day shaking in fear with ridiculous debts from this and a destroyed credit file, with my sisters baby....NEWDAY did this to me and i have nothing else to do than to make sure the world knows about what newday have done to me ...What else can i do?NOTHING and newday gave no choices about that. according to ewday my life doesn't matter, i broke the terms and they jumped on this and destroyed my life, probably making a profit from my £400 borrowing (now £1000+).., my life is ruined......I was just at a point in my life where i needed credit, i was going to work part time, start my own company and hope to get a mortgage in my 40/50's.....all destroyed over £15 a month that i would of ALWAYS paid if i was able to
Ordered some Euros on the 20th Dec. Delivery was supposed to be on the 27th Dec.
Late on xmas eve received an email informing me that there would be a delay. New delivery date 30th Dec.
However we are due to leave at 6.00 am on the 30th,
Was told I could cancel but would have to wait up to 10 days for the refund.
They took the money from my account for payment within minutes. Why can't they refund the same way.
Now we have to use our overdraft to finance the holiday spend. Which will cost us. So unfair and frustrating,
Will never use again. Have now started complaints procedure with Ombudsman against the company.
Think twice before using this company. Staff seem to be half asleep & customer welfare none existent.
Money exchange lady is brilliant......so helpful.....Rest of store is the same....friendly helpful staff
Debenhams travel money are the only one not to honour the currency rate for buy back with the Thomas Cook losses. Sainsbury's, Tesco and Marks and Spencers are all honouring the rate you paid so you don't lose out. Debenhams were going to cost me £12! I will not use them again.
I was a loyal customer and always paid off my credit card via direct debit so never went in debt. I bought some tyres for my car which unfortunately cost £££ so the transaction declined... very annoying so had to pay using my business card! I asked to increase my credit limit to only £2k and been refused! Many thanks for writing to me Francesca Rea, so called Director of Customer Services so my card is winging it's way back to you!
Be aware that the Debenhams Travel Money £5 voucher is a con.
I collected my travel money today from the Manchester Market Street Store, but when I got home I noticed the £5 voucher was only valid for today's date (it is handwritten). Nowhere in the terms and conditions of the offer does it state the voucher has to be spent the same day..
When I contacted Debenhams Head Office to complain they quoted different terms and conditions to me from those stated on their website!
My advice is to shop elsewhere
