Very disappointing experience from…
Very disappointing experience from start to finish.
We booked our rental car online well before our trip and paid for full insurance in advance. After arriving at Belgrade Airport following a long international flight, we were told that our insurance could not be found in the system, even though we showed the confirmation email proving it had been purchased.
We were then told we had to purchase additional insurance because we only had a Visa debit card instead of a credit card. This requirement was never made clear during the booking process, and after travelling for more than 20 hours, we felt we had no real choice.
Things only got worse from there. We were sent to the seventh level of the parking garage with four heavy suitcases in temperatures exceeding 40°C, with no lift and no assistance. After waiting for someone to bring the vehicle, we were given a different car from the one shown on our booking without any explanation.
What disappointed us most was the complete lack of customer service. No one tried to explain the situation, answer our questions, or show any understanding of how frustrating the experience was. We simply felt like another number.
Renting a car should be the easiest part of arriving in a new country. Instead, it became one of the most stressful parts of our trip.
We cannot recommend this service based on our experience and would strongly encourage anyone booking through them to read all the terms very carefully before travelling, especially regarding insurance and payment requirements.

Thank you for your response, Lisa. I understand your explanation, but I don’t feel it reflects what actually happened at the counter.
We were told that because we only had a Visa Debit card, we needed to take the additional Super Relax insurance in order to be able to take the car. This was presented to us as a necessity, not as a clearly explained optional product, and the additional charge was not adequately disclosed before we were asked to pay.
We understand that your Full Coverage works differently and that the exact car model is not guaranteed. Our disappointment is with how this was handled at the counter — the unexpected additional insurance, the lack of clear explanation, and the fact that the change of vehicle was not even communicated to us.
After travelling from Australia and arriving exhausted in 40+°C heat, we felt we had very little choice but to accept the situation in order to get the car and leave the airport.
I appreciate your acknowledgement of the poor service, but unfortunately our experience remains a very disappointing one. Clear communication and transparency at the counter should not depend on how tired or pressured a customer is at that moment.
I have also contacted the companies involved directly regarding this experience. Unfortunately, the only response I have received so far has been from EconomyBookings Australia, advising me to take the matter up with EconomyBookings Serbia.As a customer, I should not have to chase different companies involved in the same booking just to get a clear explanation of what happened.

Thank you for laying this out — and I'm sorry the arrival after such a long flight was as stressful as it was. Let me address the main points honestly.
On the insurance and the card: the Full Coverage bought through EconomyBookings is a reimbursement-based product, which is why it didn't appear in the supplier's system — it isn't the supplier's own insurance and doesn't show at their desk, but it remains valid for claiming eligible charges back after the rental. Separately, a physical credit card in the main driver's name is a mandatory requirement for the security deposit — debit cards, including Visa debit, aren't accepted for it. This was set out in the rental conditions accepted at booking. Without a qualifying credit card, the supplier would normally not release the vehicle at all, and the booking would be a no-show (non-refundable) — so the additional insurance they offered was effectively the exception that allowed them to hand you the car despite the card not meeting the requirement. Frustrating as it was, it was the route to you driving away rather than being turned down entirely.
On the vehicle: bookings are confirmed by category rather than exact model, so a different car within the same class is a valid substitution — though it should have been explained to you at the desk, and I'm sorry it wasn't.
On the service and the seventh-floor walk in the heat: I'm sorry the experience felt so unsupported. To be fair to all involved, extreme heat is hard on everyone, staff included — but a complete lack of explanation or assistance isn't the standard we'd want, and we'll note the supplier's handling for review.

Booked a car but the car was no show. More than one month still waiting for refund
Booked a car but the car company didn't have a car for me on the day of pick up. Contacted economy bookings so many times. Staff were not helpful, I didn't get the car that I paid for and I also haven't received my money over one month now.
You claim that there was no car recorded under my name and you have the evidence that I never pick up the car. I had multiple conversations with customers service and all have been recorded. What is stopping you guys from refunding my money.

Your case is currently in review. As part of that, we're in contact with the rental company to confirm what happened on their side — that no vehicle was available against your confirmed booking — and we're awaiting their response. That supplier confirmation is the piece the case needs to progress the refund, given the car wasn't provided.
I understand a month is far longer than it should have taken, and I'm sorry the earlier contacts didn't move it along. But the review is active, and once the supplier's response comes back, the team will process the refund and be in touch directly with the outcome. Where a paid-for vehicle genuinely wasn't provided, that's a clear basis for the refund — it's a matter of getting the supplier's confirmation to close it out.
