When I wanted to get on the flight they told me that I had excess weight in my suitcase, they charged me 50 euros. I asked to pay in cash because my credit card was left at home, they told me that it is not possible to pay in cash, I explained that I am alone and I don't have a credit card, so the representative told me if you don't feel well next time, fly with another company, shame and disgrace of a response, they sent me to strangers to ask If they pay me with their card, I will never book a flight through this company.

I see others having problems, wish I read reviews prior to getting the Bluebird Prepaid Debit card at Walmart. My story is too long, but what was worse than having money stolen from my account by 'The Good Shopper' which I (did not) authorize (apparently your information including Debit Card information can easily be hacked from the servers). Customer Service was horrendous to say the least, these people are not trained and most are definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed. Stay away from this company or sooner or later you will be sorry.
Bluebird changes dates to hold money longer
I buy groceries from Walmart. Walmart released the hold once I pick up my groceries. If there are items they don't have there is a hold amount to credit back to me. Bluebird said hold is only for 8 calendar days at worse. So after 5 days they changed the date then hold for another 8. And this is new. I have had this card for over a year and the hold shuffle has been the last 2 months.
On Thursday, after 3 hours and several dropped calls (where they never call you back) I was told the money would be in my account the next day (I am sure just to get me off the call). Waited 2 days and of course it was not released. I called back today (Saturday). Been hung up on 4 times including a supervisor who put me on hold for over an hour. They get your info, transfer you around, then place you on hold and then if you stay on hold after 20 to 30 mins, they just hang up the call. SO after 3 hours, 8 reps and being hung up on 4 times and now being told on this last call that there is no one able to take the call and to call back in 30 mins (after being on hold for almost 30 with him to come back and tell me that), I gave up and am looking at other debit cards to use.
Please DO NOT use Bluebird or if you do, do not use for grocery pickup, buying gas at the pump, hotels, or anything that will cause a hold. You will be chasing them to get your money back for weeks.

If i could leave a no start review i would. after 5 years of having direct deposit with bluebird I'm having to enlist the help of a lawyer to help start a civil suit against American express blue bird company. i sent for a replacement card after 5 1/2 years of having the same card it stopped swiping. they sent my card to an address i do not live and for 2 weeks I've been getting the run around as to why I can't have my card so I can pay my bills. I've recorded the calls and saved all email proof of the lies they've been telling me. Today I was told I would have to wait an additional 10 business days because even though they sent the card to the incorrect address and it was at no fault of my own (because i verified address several times before ending the call ) they're unable to to resend the card i paid 20.00 to have them expedite. so I guess me and my family will be able to pay bills and eat whenever they feel like fixing their mistake.

They have almost no fees, true. But it's not worth it because they will lock up your money for numerous reasons. Then claim they have to review a transaction which will take 7 business days.
And forget about customer service. Always the same response: "We're sorry, I understand, there's nothing I can do."

Full of games. A different guy gets on didn't want to state name of id. He sounded like he was outside with cars. I called on the other line put my whole number in, Amy 2011566, she says I need your name, ssn, date of birth, seriously.
The other one wants name, whole ssn, dob, email, last four of pin, secret code for password, you name it she wanted.

This has been the worst experience with a card like this that I've ever had..I wish there was a way we could just shut them down!! They have put my card on a security hold several times which I'm like whatever vill just call and fix it.. but you can't get anyone who speaks English you explain and they tell you to do something you have already done... they have hung up on me several times. At one point I was on the phone for over a hr with someone going back and forth being put on hold then they just hung up. All because I tried to send 100 dollars to someone and it took the money and no where was it to be found..I'm still so pissed and I'm not stopping until in get my money back..DONT USE THEM! I WISH REVIEWS WERE SPREAD MORE WIDELY SO EVERYONE COULD AVOID THIS MESS!

It's like they launched a minimal product and have never updated it. Unlike others I've always been able to reach support, which is in the Philippines. But like others, I've had them hang up on me.
Nothing about the card worked like the marketing materials explained. Even thought you can get a "temporary" card at Walmart you pretty much need to wait for them to send you a "permanent" card for any of the services.
Also you CANNOT use these cards outside the US. Even though they promote "$0 foreign transaction fees" they mean via online purchases, not in person purchases. SURPRISE!
They turned off my card because I tried to use it in a Canada airport. I just hope they can turn my account back on so that I can pull my money out and never have to deal with them again.
Can't reach American support…
You can only reach foreigners for support for starters! Next, I called to ask when I would get my new card since the expiration date on my current card was approaching and the idiot foreigner deactivated the current card without me receiving the new card!!! It wasn't like I reported the card lost or stolen, I inquired about getting the updated card once I reached 6/22 for my existing date! I called back 12 times to try to get an American and NEVER GOT ONE!! Then, the foreigners just tell you hang up and dial back to get someone in the U.S! I'm like, "look I've done that multiple times and it just keeps going overseas!!" So yeah you can use the card in different places, but of course anywhere that doesn't take American Express (which by the way is becoming more often because of AE credit fees), but their customer service is crap!! I would NEVER TRUST USING THEIR BANK SYSTEM! Especially if customer service is all foreign! @#$& naw!!!
This is not a good company
This is not a good company. I have tried calling customer service 3 times to update my address, when I clearly gave them my address upon applying for the card. And they are telling me to update my information. The day I applied for the card, they told me they were unable to offer me a card at this time. Now I’m getting an email stating to update my address or my account will be closed.
I don’t understand. I would not recommend using this company.

Bluebird's card is clearly a scam. I can't believe Walmart sells these cards in their stores. After being hung up on three times by customer service agents, I realized this was some kind of scam and was sure all of my data was compromised.
I immediately froze my credit reports and put fraud alerts on my credit reporting agency accounts.
I went to Walmart and told the manager I'm 100% sure this is a scam. Of course, Bluebird is a third-party vendor. Once you pay the $5 for the card and put money on it, Wal-mart has no responsibility for it. I asked the manager to send my message up the chain of command.
Highly unlikely I'll be able to reach anyone at American Express, whose logo is on the card, to file a complaint. I will be filing the our state attorney general's office. Absolute Scam!

Like others have said wish I could have given it zero stars. Dealing with fraud charges it impossible. Nobody has any answers and are selective on what charges they want to accept as fraud. I guess $4 is the threshold. Don’t waste your time or energy. Bank any other non traditional bank!
Abysmal customer service and ridiculous policies
American Express Bluebird is a joke and I almost want to call it a scam. The few times I’ve tried to do a standard bank transfer it’s taken WEEKS even though it says it only takes a few days. The last time it happened I was so close to opening up a dispute but the transfer finally went through.
And don’t even try to replace your card unless you don’t need your card for over a month. I ordered a replacement card 6 weeks ago and never received it. I finally got ahold of someone and they told me I could pay $20 to have it sent faster. What?! Every other company on the face of the planet will offer to comp extra shipping fees when they’ve clearly screwed up but not Bluebird. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after 5 minutes of the most ear piercing hold music I’ve maybe ever heard I got transferred to someone who was clearly not a supervisor. She was obviously reading from a script and just kept talking over me and telling me she was “sorry for the inconvenience”. I ended up losing my patience and acting like a huge jerk and apologized for it but holy hell is this the worst customer service EVER. Honestly I feel bad for the agents because Bluebird just sets them up for failure and they clearly have no real way to escalate issues.
In the end they still refused to absorb the extra shipping charges and tried to blame it on me not validating my address? I gave it to the customer service agent 6 weeks ago on the phone, why would I have to validate it in the app? The “supervisor” kept asking for my address over and over again and saying it had to be a physical address and not a PO box, even though it was very obviously a street address. The call quality was also terrible, I could barely hear what she was saying and I also had some trouble understanding her accent unfortunately (which is obviously not her fault). As soon as my new card comes in I’m withdrawing all of my funds, switching my direct deposit, and canceling my account. If you have bad credit, there are other, better options. Stay far, far away from this card.

Bluebird would not register my card. So what good are you I waste $5 dollars to get this card and you can not even talk to anyone. One lady rung up said active your card. How dum that what we are trying to do. 2nd one said email already has a account dont know how since I never had a account. ( chance email still does not work) What a company
