Not a customer myself, but my MIL is(was). She passed recently and her auto payment didn't go through, so without warning they locked up her unit and wouldn't allow entry until the account was paid off. On top of that, they charged a frick'n late fee! WTH?!
Large monopolizing corporation that doesn't care about anything but $ - plus their rates are higher than any other storage around the area.
Avoid this company at all costs. I'd give zero stars if I could.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR POSSESSIONS.
The worst customer service I’ve ever encountered after a major fire in one of their units left 400+ people losing ALL their contents. They ignore your emails, act like they’re doing you a favour if you’re ever lucky enough to get a response and have wiped their hands off hundreds of people whilst trying to get them to sign payout information that would then block them from seeking compensation.
Arrogant staff they clearly have never experienced a trauma of this nature and what it means to lose 20 years of your possessions in a fire that most likely could have been prevented. Please do not trust them with your items.

The staff and management were exceptional. I stored my belongings for 10 months, without issue. Clean and secure accommodation, caring staff who went out of their way to cater to my needs. I would definitely store with access storage again!

The storage staff workers were nasty and rude! I was evicted in the middle of the month without refund! The staff was in her feelings which are disgusting how she talks to paying customers! Check your staff as nasty employees will get your business shut down!

INFESTED WITH RODENTS and ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE! We stored our home furnishings for 2 years only to return to items completely destroyed by mice. Not only was there mouse excrement on all surfaces, inside of boxes and bins that rodents had chewed through, but our brand new king size Endy mattress and Dyson stick vac were destroyed due to rodents. Mice chewed a hole through our mattress, and also crawled inside of our vaccuum canister, chewed the edges, and then died inside of the filter leaving the vaccuum unusable.
We showed the damage to management at the facility in Hamilton on the day of move out, and were told our claim would be addressed by management in the next week. We are over a month later, have followed up several times a week, and still have no reply. We spent over $10,000 storing items here and have now spent close to $2000 replacing the items that were destroyed.
I have stored belongings at other facilities in the past and have NEVER seen an issue like this.
Beyond the rodent infestation, we attempted to access our unit once this past winter only to find that someone had attempted to pick our lock, to the point that the key could not even be inserted into it anymore. We had to wait for management to cut the lock off in order to give us access to our belongings, and then were expected to buy another lock from them to replace the one that was damaged in their 'secure' facility.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! You are better off in a different facility, or selling your furniture before you move rather than waste a cent here.

This company is a blight on the Storage industry sector. It deserves to fail. It’s customer complaints process is awful- as complaints board and other websites show. And when faced with undeniable evidence of a mouse infestation at a facility outside Toronto which has done major damage to items in storage, it was only then ie when you need to claim on the insurance which they charge you for- that they tel you that damage from mice is not covered . And the mice problem just happened to coincide with their change of pest control provider, after Access had taken over the business, whose management and ownership were excellent. I had stored with Domenico for more than three years and received outstanding service. DO NOT Store anything you value this company, as they clearly don’t value their customers’ items.

I just want to give a huge shouts to the store manager at the Edward ave location in Richmond hill , Yong ! He was so helpful and respectful and thorough .
We bid on storage lockers and have gone to many different facilities throughout the GTA and Simcoe county . Yong called me right away and we spoke of the process , I had had an issue with the hamilton facility and have been very wary of dealing with some facilities now . Access storage managers in simcoe county and gta have been great . Yong returned calls promptly and was so helpful and understand when we ran into problems with our uhaul breaking down! I appreciate his help and understanding and will continue to bid on lockers at this facility . Some people are xtremely rude and we avoid them , but anyone who wants to read this review and rent at this location , please know Yong takes care of his clients and manages the property very well , clean and organized . No horror stories here ! Just a huge thank you Yong

Every box, plastic bag in the 10x20 unit we rented was completely infested with mice living and dead. There were nests, live and dead and all their family matter in EVERYTHING we had in the unit was Ruined ALL our linens, towels and stored clothing. The only thing that was salvageable was furniture and golf clubs.
I reached out and spoke with the port Perry location and was told a manager would call me. Never happened. It took me almost 2 years to unpack and discard of most items as my husband had a major stroke the very afternoon we secured this unit. I have been doing everything on my own and am simply disgusted and disappointed with this whole experience.

Terrible customer experience, they tried selling me insurance for my unit, I specifically declined, they billed me anyway for months, when I questioned it, they told me it is the law, I asked for the Ontario legislation that mandates insurance for private storage companies to be emailed to me, then she said I can send you a form to sign to waive the insurance, the billing set up is more complicated and time taxing then anything I have seen in my life. You cant just send a simple e-transfer it is the most convoluted payment system. If you email a incorrect amount even of 1cent, it will not be accepted and they will not notify you of this, then they send you a "late fee charge" I recommend staying away from the far from ethical company ,

Over charging and charging ahead of time and don't refund anything when it is charged even if the unit is vacated for more than 20 days. Unfair policy and charges.

I tried to book a storage unit online and received a phone call from an Access Storage rep. I was literally bombarded with a barrage of questions concerning my interest in a storage unit. Not only that, but in order to actually see a unit, I had to make an appointment to do so. I finally told the woman I didn't feel it was necessary to share so much personal information with her. She was pushy and intrusive. I hung up and went to APPLE STORAGE in Waterloo, the best storage facility ever.
The man who works the counter there full-time is the most courteous, helpful, and friendly individual. He gave me a unit within 5 minutes of walking in (no appointment needed!), and at a discount price for 2 months too!
