Extremely disappointed long-time Canadian customers BEWARE—hit with massive surprise customs fees!
I have been a loyal Zenni Optical customer for nearly 10 years, always ordering through their Canadian website. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has completely ruined my trust in this company.
I placed an order back in June, and it took forever to arrive. When I finally went to the post office today (July 16th), I was shocked to find a delivery notice stating I owe $76.72 in customs fees. At no point during the checkout process was I informed that my prescription would be manufactured in the US or that I would be hit with hefty import duties. Had Zenni been transparent about this, I never would have placed the order in the first place.
To make matters worse, their customer service is completely useless. While the agents on the phone were polite, they refused to do anything and ridiculously told me I had to take this up with the customs agency myself. Now I am stuck in a total Catch-22: Zenni expects me to return the glasses to get a refund, but I can't even pick them up from the post office to send them back unless I pay the $76.72 customs charge first.
After a decade of loyal business, this is incredibly frustrating. Canadian buyers beware—Zenni is no longer transparent about where their products are coming from, and their customer service will leave you holding the bag for unexpected fees.

Customer service get a 10/10
I received an empty zenni parcel in the mail. Glasses fell out somewhere in transit. Zenni asked for some details to confirm, and then immediately re-made the lost order and used expedited shipping to get to me. I was extremely happy with Zenni for this - especially knowing that the fault lies with USPS.

The price was my first attraction. Secondly, it was surprisingly easy to do the order online. The selection was so vast, it was amazingly enjoyable. My last surprise was how fast the delivery was.

Zenni was easy to use and easy to upload to!
Zenni was easy to use and easy to upload my RX. There are a great variety of selections to chose from and that is a plus!
Quality of the prescription is great. What I don't like is the frame quality. It was a cheaper quality than other online glass retailers I've used and more expensive.
I was suggested to get the pink tint to my glasses, which I really was excited about, but they aren't pink tinted to the naked eye like they showed in the picture online. That is fine, however when you look through the lenses I can see the pink tinting out of the corners of my eyes, it's kind of a distraction.
Also, I got the clear floral frames, SO Cute!! I didn't consider that they would also be a distraction out of the corner of my eye. I can see the floral pattern on the glasses out of the corner of my eyes as well. Lesson learned that clear frames aren't for me.
Also, my frames were slightly tweaked when they arrived as they weren't packaged in a box. They were shipped in a poly mailer with the glasses in a glass case.
There was a shipping problem, they were accidently sent back to a previous location before being delivered and the package looked pretty beat up when it arrived. I had to tweak the frames a little bit to get them to sit level on my face.
I am wearing them, and they are cute, however I would not order again.
