My wife and I visited the showroom, sat with the designer and agreed our dream kitchen at a cost of just under £20,000. We specifically requested one worktop to be larger than normal so that the freestanding appliances would be level with the worktop I.e. not stick out.
The installers came and we left them to it.
Once they had fitted the units, we noticed that the worktop was shorter than what we ordered. Meaning the appliances would stick out.
When we investigated with the installer and wren, it turns out out that they admitted there was a computer error and they had not sent the right panels to fit the worktop and no instructions had been given to the installer.
They did say they could put right but that would mean a delays I.e. order new parts, rip out the incorrect units, delay the worktop installation and the tiling.
My wife and I are currently caring for a terminal ill relative so we could not put up with delays and additional stress so we said carry on and we will discuss a compensation payment when everything finished.
I would point out that the designer was not apologetic or showed no signs of empathy at all.
We put in a claim for compensation, for the stress, inconvenience but mainly the disappointment at not receiving our dream kitchen, all due to there admitted error.
Today they offered … £67.00!
An absolute joke. It would have cost them ten times as much just to put the work right, let alone the stress and inconvenience it would have caused us.
Scrutinise the delivery when it comes, clarify every small point with your installer, do not expect any empathy should things go wrong.
Very disappointed …. Needlessly to say … offer not accepted!
A note for people in similar positions … if you purchase on credit, you can ask the finance company to freeze the payments and ask them to pursue with Wren. This is because Wren are in breach of Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Will keep this post updated with developments.
