UPDATE – I wish the story had ended there. It didn’t.
After I originally posted this review, I was contacted on 17 July by Mr Taylor from Wren Customer Service. He told me not to worry and reassured me that my problems would be resolved.
I wanted to believe him.
And, to be fair, after that call the replacement worktop was brought forward from 29 July to 22 July.
But unfortunately, that was nowhere near the end of our problems.
Our kitchen was finally completed on 26 August.
Yes — you read that correctly.
We lived without a properly functioning kitchen for two months and one week.
For a kitchen that cost us approximately £15,000.
Think about that for a moment.
For over two months, we couldn’t use our kitchen properly. We couldn’t finish the rest of our flat because everything was being held up by the unfinished kitchen. Boxes and belongings were piled up in our living room. We were spending money on Uber Eats and other food because we couldn’t cook normally.
And the financial cost was only part of it.
The stress, frustration and disruption to our lives were enormous.
Then came the final installation attempt.
The contractors sent by Wren caused even more problems.
We discovered that we had been sold one extra sheet of splashback material that we didn’t need. The measurements and planning were supposedly done by Wren, so I still don’t understand how this happened.
The glass panel behind the cooker was also the wrong size and didn’t fit.
Several cabinets were damaged during the process and had to be repaired/reworked.
And then, unbelievably, when one of the final panels was being installed, instead of using the appropriate grey silicone, we were told afterwards that white silicone had been used without even asking us.
When the panels were being installed, nails were also put through the top, damaging one of the cabinets.
The damage was so significant that I am now going to have to replace that cabinet. To do that properly, a large part of the kitchen will have to be dismantled again.
At this point, my partner had simply had enough.
After everything we had already been through, he told the installers that we did not want anyone from Wren returning to our home.
We had reached our limit.
The flooring was also damaged. We were sent flooring from different boxes, resulting in mismatched pieces, and at one point we even had a grey panel sitting in the middle of the room.
This entire process has been exhausting.
Eventually, we had to hire other people ourselves to correct some of the work. They redid the silicone, repaired the cabinets and fixed the things that should have been done correctly in the first place.
So after paying Wren approximately £15,000, we ended up paying additional money to other professionals to put right problems created during the installation.
This is not what I expected when I bought a new kitchen from a company of this size.
The most frustrating part is that Wren made the whole process look so professional at the beginning. The showroom experience was excellent. The sales process was excellent. We were made to feel that everything would be organised and taken care of.
But when things went wrong, we felt like we were left fighting one problem after another.
Two months and one week without a proper kitchen.
£15,000 spent on the kitchen.
Additional money spent on food, Uber Eats and repairs.
A renovation put on hold.
Our living room filled with boxes.
Damaged flooring.
Damaged cabinets.
Incorrectly sized materials.
Incorrect materials.
Poor finishing.
And an enormous amount of unnecessary stress.
I honestly cannot understand how a company can take this much money from a customer and leave them dealing with this level of disruption.
I know some people may have had good experiences with Wren. Perhaps we were simply extremely unlucky.
But I can only speak about our experience.
And based on what happened to us, I would never buy a kitchen from Wren again.
If you’re considering Wren Kitchens, please do your research and think very carefully about what happens after you have signed the contract and paid your money.
Because our experience taught us a very expensive lesson:
Getting the kitchen sold to you is one thing. Getting it installed properly and getting problems resolved is something completely different.
Please think twice before choosing Wren Kitchens.
you will not be compensated, and you just have to wait.
