About Vets Now

Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.

That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.

Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Dissatisfied customer

We took our dog, who had just had puppies, but wasn’t eating afterwards. The vet checked her out but said that they weren’t concerned. We weren’t happy with this so took her to the local vet the next day who did a scan to find remains of placenta still inside her from the birth and gave her a jag and course of antibiotics. If we had stuck with Vets Now advice our dog would have continued to get worse so we paid £280 for nothing only to pay to take her to the vet again the next day.

Scandalously overpriced.

My cat had to stay overnight at Kirkcaldy. Vets now quoted me £500 - £850 for this which was really for just his general care and administering his medication etc. You could get a room at the Ritz for this price - scandalous !!!

Hi David, thanks for your feedback on the cost of our service. As you may be aware, it’s a lot more expensive to run an after-hours emergency vet service. The greater running costs we incur are reflected in our prices. If you’d like to read more about our running costs, prices and where our profits go, please visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/

Very disappointed with how my dog was checked over after showing them a video of what happened, never checked any limb movements other than walking up a down the room. Was only in the treatment room with the vet for a very short time and charged a phenomenal amount of money for a very poor diagnosis only to be advised to take anti inflammatories. My dog is injured and needs further treatment

They are only interested in the money, the money is their priority

Used this vets for over 30 years and it has gone down significantly since Ian left, Ian was an amazing vet who truely cared for the animals however once he retired we have noticed how down hill this vets has gone. The last 4 times I have been to the vets for muliple species I have been very disappointed. The vets now are often rude, cold and only care about pushing for money, I don’t feel my animals have received the care they needed. I have repetedly seeked help from st clares vets and vets now and each time I’ve left feeling more anxious about my animals health. They want to put stressful tests on my elderly dog who doesn’t need those tests, as well as not having any understanding of chickens health, I understand it’s not what they specialise in however is seems there is next to no knowledge on them at all! I had to diagnose and treat my hen my self on 3 separate occasions with no real help or advice from the vets howbwer I received amazing genuine care from The British Hen Welfare Trust who went out of their way to find a solution to my hens health issue and cured it within less than half an hour that the st clares vet wanted to run stressful tests on her! (As they couldn’t identify the issue) but the BHWT was able to do it immediately and they gave me free help and advice which genuine care for my animal.

I have a lot of respect for vets and the work they do however I have left feeling so disappointed and upset often they have made me feel more anxious than I was about my animals before I even took my pets in!

I know vets appointments are expensive, and I respect that however I feel it has no become only about the money and I feel the animals have become less of a priority.

I had to wait an hour for an emergency appointment as I assume it was lunch time as a McDonald’s delivery came while I was waiting…. I work with animals and I can garentee you I would not be sitting eating my lunch if I knew there was sick animals waiting and none of them being see….
I understand they have the right to have a well deserved break however I don’t understand why NONE of the animals waiting were being seen! There wasn’t even one vet available for these emergency appointments?

However the staff of the reception have always been lovely and friendly.

Excellent emergency vets

The staff were knowledgable, kind and compassionate. I felt reassured that my very poorly cat was being treated in the best way possible. She was seen quickly and a plan for treatment discussed with us, giving all the information and options.

Our precious boy.

Vets now looked after our precious cat rocky boy in his final days hours...and tried everything to get him home to us... unfortunately he sadly went over to the rainbow bridge. We Miss him so much but the last days were made much easier knowing he was in good hands.

The out-of-hours Vets Now

The out-of-hours Vets Now, Vet gave our Dalmatian a thorough check over. This after she experienced a neurological episode at 10.30pm on a Saturday night. I was glad to be able to access a Vet consultation so late on a weekend, it was an expensive but necessary service.
Thankyou.

They saved my dogs life

They saved my dogs life!

I've not always had the best experience with vetsnow with my pet rats however I can not fault them one bit on their care of my dog Leon.

Leon was rushed in with a suspected GDV (twisted stomach) and is a 12yr old bull breed so an old lad, they were extremely fast acting to get him the urgent care he needed and operated on him as soon as he was stable enough, without their rapid actions I am certain my boy wouldn't be with me today recovering at home. I honestly can't thank them enough and they will never know how much what they did really meant to me, true heros in my eyes.
