tomtom support
Tomtom support UK is a joke. You get transferred ti India and then it goes to rats. I live in France but my account was in UK before I moved now my account is held in Southern Ireland what a mess. Every time Itry to update my three devices I end up phoning support. They do not take any notice of the recorded phone calls but have someone listening in as I have been suddenly dropped too many times whilst talking to the Indian chap on the other end
Avoid them like the plague
Avoid them like the plague, customer service is a bad joke, their website is unhelpful and customer complaint procedures virtually non existent.
You pay over £400 for a device and what you get back is Zero!
Shame to you!

An item that manages to get worse every time. My first one that i bought near the begining is still better than others that i have bought more recently. The battery does not recharge after about a year. The updates dont seem to work if youve had it over a year. It seems they just want you to buy a new model. Such a shame that a company can go so downhill. Probably better saving your money and use the sat navon your phone.

Had 3 tomtom's now all 3 have ended up in the bin could not get a GPS signal no matter what I did came new with free updates but could not get it to update on the website when I called they just wanted money to update would never buy a tomtom again
their phone support sucks..
their phone support sucks... cannot understand them, they give you the run around and now all of a sudden no longer offer phone support for their watches. I was going to buy a new one because mine is about 5 years old but no thank you. Phone support needs to go to an english speaking country not in India
The star ratings should start at minus 10 …
I have seen some blindingly stupid things in my life, before buying a Tomtom Rider but I am now having my eyes opened to the full gamut of ............I shan't say it!
TomTom Rider offers you some preset tours or "tracks " as they like to call them, one is called "The Cotswold Way" so eventually you figure out how to get the device to navigate to the start of this "Track". You then find the Tomtom takes you through a busy city centre and then takes you back out again.
This seems to be a massive navigation error on the of Tomtom part of you get home and go to the computer to analyse this mystery only to find that the Cotswold way starts at York Street 9 in the centre of Bath City? Who in their right mind would do this? Surely you would start a preset route outside the city limits, as opposed to winding a victim through endless traffic to a city centre, turn them around and wind them all the way out again?
This lunacy of logic is seen throughout the screens and menus in this device, no one it seems at Tomtom is capable of performing any joined up thinking. These people advertise journeys through mountainous paths throughout Europe when in truth you will have an enormous task in getting this device to show you a route home when your 8 miles away, especially after its updated its software. To give you an idea of the scale of the problem, Tomtom can send you a user manual , its 200 pages long.
Do not, please do not waste your hard earned £300 on this monstrous piece of crepe.
Why not to buy your products.
I bought a TomTom car navigation device over 20 years ago and complained then about the inordinate time take to download updates. Six months ago I bought a Go 620 and for one map update and two minor updates it took nine hours despite my broadband download speed being 52 mps. This has to be related to the abysmal performance of their servers. I will never buy a TomTom device again. When I phoned their tech support number (0930 CET) I got a message saying their office is currently closed -no mention of opening times and was then disconnected.
On googling this problem it seems every other TomTom user has exactly the same problem.
I will be forwarding a copy of this message to Which? UK which seems to have a habit of recommending companies with abysmal customer support.
Simply the worst.
Bought a Tomtom 25 start 13 months ago, and it is now unusable. Claims updates are needed and switches itself off, but will not update. Customer support is difficult to locate and worthless when you do finally get through.
My Start 20 failed to work after I…
My Start 20 failed to work after I attempted to install the latest map update. I see other people with similar products which are relatively old (but came with a lifetime update guarantee) have also been affected. It's worth mentioning that the update's size was comfortably less than the memory on the device. It's very suspicious to me...
Really fed up
Really fed up. trying to update my Start 25 for the last three days. i'm off to France on Monday. It connects to "My Drive Connect" fine but five minutes later it say the server is busy hit retry or close my drive connect and try again. If this is like this now, what is it going to be like after Christmas when the unfortunate recipients of tomtoms try and set them up and update them? I've heard the site was hacked and it has been scaled right back while they sort the mess out, I wouldn't mind being told that, but being told nothing is just poor customer service
UPS have had my satnav device for a…
UPS have had my satnav device for a week now, apparently too afraid to put on a plane because of its explosive content, a tiny Li-iron battery that I was stupid enought to write on the side after reading UPS shipping instructions. TOMTOM are just as useless and lie about contacting UPS CS. So, I am without my £375 truck satnav. I cant pick it up and reship, UPS won't get it returned to me unless tomtom authorise... What a F up! Will NEVER use UPS again and if there was a decent alternative would never buy or use another tomtom unit either.
Have a GO 520 in australia
Have a GO 520 in australia, have unit up to date and Sydney roads that have been in existence for over 12 months can’t be found where google maps, waze and apple maps all have them. This thing is not a patch on the 3 just mentioned above, l think l will
relegate it to the garbage bin so l can can forget my big mistake
Shame on Tomtom for selling me a piece of crap
POOR to say the least
POOR to say the least! Poor service, no-one to ask, online/no contact numbers, no live chat, representatives, NOTHING! The same old, same old automated "FAQs" that are about as much use as a one legged man in an @rse-kicking contest! I bought a Tom Tom 52, it stated, unless I'm mistaken, six months FREE speed camera updates - But only got two-and-a-half months!
Then, on updating, it didn't look like it was doing anything/taking forever NO progress report for map updates, again ZILCH! I will be contacting them for money back - but they won't dare come on here to redress anything, now will they! Pathetic, don't buy. They used to be ok, but now they're just plain disrespectful, awful "service".

Looking in vain for technical help I came across a phone number, I rang the number to be greeted by a voice who confirmed it was Tomtom technical.......it wasn't it was a scam upgrade company who took £100 for doing nothing. Tomtom technical help is almost non existent, and the scammers know it, and infiltrate their website with their phone numbers. Be aware, but if Tomtom offered better technical help it would not be so inviting for the scammers. Rubbish company.
I have a lifetime update on my TomTom…
I have a lifetime update on my TomTom satnav but since the arrival of IoS Mac 10.15 64-bit there is no possibility of connecting to TomTom as they haven't updated "MyDriveConnect" software. Amazing considering they have had 3 years advance warning of 64-bit Mac OS!
Bought a second hand TomTom 710 off…
Bought a second hand TomTom 710 off Ebay. All works but I contacted TomTom to ask for its original product code. Website was hopeless but I found a phone number on Say No to 0870. I waited for 35 minutes for an answer. They just said they don't support the old models any more and couldn't tell me how to obtain the product code. It has put me off investing in a newer TomTom.
I raised an route problem with support…
I raised an route problem with support and they ignore me. I've tried all ways to deal with them & getting nowhere. I really resent being screwed with a product that is clearly badly developed. My Tomtom Go is selecting very inappropriate routes. I opted to go from GU21 3DS to GU35 0DG and the unit opted to take me on a route through a Ford (small river which due to heavy rain was flooded) and would keep taking me back even though I had to take a detour. Moreover, I had to reverse back out into a busy road/junction - I try to use my common sense but at no time was the Ford highlighted as a hazard. I had never used the route the TomTom Go provided. I did this route with a Tomtom 720 and this worked flawlessly, i.e. used appropriate roads & junctions so the algorythms in the Go are poor/faulty or settings are inappropriate.
Update
With a few mins of posting this, Support contacted me & after installing updates (IMHO didn't make any difference) it seems there are 2 settings for Fastest Route to be selected to override the default Shortest which sends you down country lanes, tracks and other minor roads. I think most users would struggle to figure this out. The fastest seems much more appropriate on the 5 trial runs I tried, we'll see...
I will never buy Tomtom anymore
I will never buy Tomtom anymore. They promised lifetime free updates but after 4 years, they stopped delivering maps updates for my model; traffic information has stopped and radars also. So my device has become unusable.
