I have had four Tomtoms over the years, and I`m about to upgrade to the Premium X. Each one had been brilliant, with great easy to follow maps, and voice instructions. The customer service maybe a bit slow (emails) but has always been good.I have purchased lots of accessories to go with each of my Tomtoms, cases etc, all have been good quality and lasted well. I personally have found Tomtom to be an excellent company, and my wife and I both have iphones but prefer to use Tomtom rather than them.

Lifetime maps no longer supported??
I have a Go 500 and has only been used a couple of times since new

RIP, paid for yearly updates and they still charge a monthly fee. Can’t get hold of them to get my money back. Terrible people!

Terrible company and very poor products. I bought a Tomtom Rider 500 3 months ago as the box and adverts stated it would bluetooth to my phone and allow message and handsfree as well as traffic services- it will not operate any of those.
This has apparently been the case since October 2019 when Apple released their IOS 13.xxx. Tomtom navs cannot communicate with iPhones that need this version of software to operate securely. Tomtom know this but avoid even their own forums on the matter. There are dozens upon dozens of complaints about it. We are 6 months down the line and no fix from Tomtom. They are impossible to contact having no email address or support address. They are utterly incompetent and deserve to fold. Look at their company performances to see how they are plummeting on turnover and profit. They are the worst company I ever had the displeasure to come across.
I had been with Tomtom since they were created, I will never ever buy another product of theirs. Do yourself a favour and avoid all their nav systems like the plague. Go with Garmin - they are night and day better. Frankly Tomtom do not warrant even a single star for their pathetic performance, but its the lowest I could select

TomTom are utter rubbish. Freezing , jaming, poor quality, utter worthless junk. Also I had an email from them saying your sat nav is 3 years old and now out of date, here is 30% off a new one ( thats good for the environment !)
Basically TomTom is rubbish and I would never buy another.

It's sad to read so many bad reviews about TomTom, but unfortunately they are all justified. I recently bought a TomTom Start 42 sat Nav which failed to work within 2 weeks. The first time I placed it in the car, the device failed with the message "No Maps Available". Needless to say it was returned for a full refund. The Company has gone right down the pan together with its once great reputation.

Just received an Email from Tom Tom saying that my TomTom will no longer be supported with updates
What bit of “life time updates” are you not providing?
Neither me or my tomtom are dead ! Surely that is misrepresentation under the trades description act
They did this with my old machine I went to update it, loaded the operating system only to find I couldn’t then down-load the map
And now they've done it again with my current machine
Not good enough Tomtom I shall do my best to spread the bad press.

Day to day use I find very good indeed. Then you come to update your lifetime maps and the non stop frustration starts . Connect sat nav to computer message your device not recognised. Then software needs update on your computer. After what seems to take forever to update to work and connect to device. Same old message all our servers Busy ! Then if you do get pass this stage you may get your storage on your device is now full please upgrade.....boom device out the window ! Buy a map 🗺

It difficult to build such terrible bad hardware and software in this day and age. They have truly given up as a company.

Another of the poorer companies I’ve dealt with.
I ordered a cable which was supposed to arrive on Wednesday.....UPS the carriers failed to deliver so still delayed. Assured of delivery on Thursday which didn’t happen. Still marked as delayed!
Emailed TOMTOM but not even the courtesy of a reply. Wouldn’t buy anything from TOMTOM until they sort out their delivery agents.

I have two Tomtom units,one for UK the other for Australia and NZ. Both have map updates due (8 in total). I have the latest software but all i get are messages that servers are busy. This has been going on for months. TT support is polite but useless. Lifetime maps just means you wait a lifetime and can't download them! Buy something else!!

Tom Tom GO6100. Bought in 2012.
Device is OK. Got email saying free map update.
However when logged in the chat line told me an expert would phone me which he did.The expert told me that I would have to pay £140+VAT for update. I said box said "Lifetime Maps" he said that meant 3 years? I said why does it not say that on the box?
I said I was not paying for any updates he said he'd try to get me free updates then asked for a card number?
Lifetime Maps on box is misleading if not dishonest.
Very poor treatment from Tom Tom would advise to look elsewhere. Don't know if Garmin are any better..

If it were possible to give zero stars than I would do so. The Go 500 satnav is very good, but the updating procedure was a nightmare, but has now been made worse.

Horrible company, bought TOM TOM ages ago, turns out thought there is nothing wrong with the device, after update it deleted old map and said I had to buy a new device since new maps are too large, what the actually fu.ck, I have a damn 16gig SD in it, and if it cant do the new map fu.cki.ng put my old map back on it cu.nts, now its useless, just a throw it away, I WILL NEVER buy another TOM TOM.. just stay with Waze or Google maps here on in, set of tossers.

An absolute rip off, if my car didn’t come with a Tomtom satnav I wouldn’t go anywhere near them...£70 just for an update?

Software is simply terrible! Every time when I have to update my devices, I struggle for hours or even days!

TomTom Profesional 6250- DO NOT BUY!!!
The worst product I've ever had in my life. I replaced three devices within a year. I'm fed up with them, they don't appreciate consumers at all. Their Refund Agreement is structured just to fool you. there is only 40 days to return, then you have to bother with service and repairs. I honestly don't recommend TomTom to anyone from my heart. Unless you like problems then it's your choice. Do not buy these devices, they are very faulty and return is not possible. Let them go bankrupt soon because people are only annoying.

Must apologize to TomTom for previous review, after having no luck with upgrade, decided to try a third time, and after a lot of searching on Webb discovered several scam copy sites the one I used was a chap from Bulgaria with Indian accent, several people have tried to get TomTom to try and make it clear there are scammers using there name. Anyway found official site, must say not the easiest site to use and eventually managed to update satnav, so happy with TomTom now, and hope the scammers find the road to hell.

Been trying to update a Tom Tom 500 Go for the last 3 days. I am losing the will to live. Tom Tom emailed me to say updates available.
It's a pity someone from Tom Tom doesn't read the reviews.
I will use the sat nav on my phone as it's more reliable and gives traffic updates.
