It's a none profit but we all know how that can be abused with high salaries etc. But I have had some good and unusual wines and although they are as variable as other shippers and the reviews are not... See more

Founded in 1874, The Wine Society is the world’s oldest member-owned community of wine lovers. We put our members before profit to ensure fairer bottle prices for both the people that enjoy them, and for those who make them. Because we don’t need to keep external shareholders happy, we’re able to put profits back into lower prices and services, so our members get exceptional quality in every bottle they buy.

Good range of wines at all price…
Good range of wines at all price points. I particularly like the fact that you don't pay extra for delivery. The price of the bottle/case is what you pay.
I also like and have made use of the En Primeur system and attend tastings when they are near me.
Wines are excellent value, but excessive e-mails are annoying.
Wines are excellent value, free delivery for any quantity, but daily promotional e-mails are annoying!
Mine is an inherited membership
Mine is an inherited membership, and I have always found the Society to provide excellent value and selections.
Shame the French store had to close due to circumstances, but over recent years the online ordering has been so easy to use.
Efficient
Efficient, polite effective delivery. Being a mutual, the cost of the wines is always more competitive than any other supplier.
A long term fan of The Wine…
I am a long term fan of The Wine Society because of its excellent pricing, long term partnerships with wine producing families and easy to use website.
I stocked up on superb value Bordeaux wines which I have enjoyed before.
Praise for Wine Society
Great selections. Very useful guidance on choices. Great value and unfailing reliability regarding delivery,
Great value and service over 15 years
I've been a member for 15 years and have received outstanding service and value during that time. Anything from £7 to £8 a bottle to fine wines with guides to members' favourites and reviews for many of the wines. Regular information is sent about different wines from countries all around the world. I never have time to read it all but selective dipping into it has enables me to try so many different wines that I would not have otherwise have experienced. Many have become favourites. Recommended.
A member for 29 years
I have been a member of the wine society for many years (29) and have never had a bad wine, they offer very good value and the delivery service is excellent.
I would and have recommended the society to many of my friends.
Excellent wine, great service
Excellent wine, super efficient service and delivery. I always order wine from the Wine Society if I possibly can and they don't disappoint.
great website and selection of wines
First class service throughout.
A huge varierty of quality wines at a…
A huge varierty of quality wines at a range of prices . I buy around the £8 to £12 wines and they beat the supermarkets hands down at these prices.
Quick free delivery of what you want when you want it makes it ideal for those that love wine be it £8 or £80
I Have two minor criticisms
I only have two minor criticisms - the wine list I’d far too big and complex, over complicating wine choice, and I feel the volume of communications by mail and by email are on the ‘too much’ scale.
I enjoy the wines I choose regularly, but that is a tiny proportion of the overall offering. Delivery service by the Society Van is excellent, but less so by couriers.
The best wine merchant in the UK? Probably
Excellent range. Good, competitive prices. Reliable, on-time deliveries.
Excellent all round service
Excellent quality of wines as usual and
efficient and timely delivery .

It's very easy to order and to get wine delivered. The range is great - I've enjoyed trying new things. I feel as though the prices are very good particularly with free delivery.
Great service
The wine society is a very good place to buy quality, interesting wines. It feels more like a club than a commercial venture. The stock is ever changing and always well curated. Delivery is free for members, and you can nominate which day you would like the wine to arrive.
All in all a very good service.
We love buying our wines from The Wine…
We love buying our wines from The Wine Society, they are true experts, not for profit, and the wines are always excellent. Delivery is amazing, on time and next day. We just trust them and have not been let down.
