you assume the worst about a person if…
you assume the worst about a person if they share contact information with another member and even suspend a person if they share too often. It is like a kangaroo court and Stitch assumes the worst without getting all of the facts.
Impossible to do a face to face activity with the other person when they life 500 miles away

Hi David, we don't assume the worst about any member, but we do have a duty of care to keep our community safe. Because scammers try to get people off platform so they can avoid Stitch's safety protocols, we provide a warning every time someone tries to do that on Stitch. If people are sharing contact details for valid reasons, such as after they have met at an in-person activity, then that's totally fine. But if someone repeatedly tries to get people to communicate outside the platform, they are likely to receive a warning or suspension, simply because the platform has to do what it can to protect members across the millions of interactions it monitors each month. We know that's an inconvenience for real members of the community, but it's the price we need to pay to keep everyone safe. As long as you focus on meeting other members at in-person activities in the community, and work within the Stitch Community Guidelines, you will be fine and won't ever face suspension. I am disappointed in the lack of face to face activities in my area. The 2 people that I have met were interesting and pleasand. The folks in zoom meeting were additionally welcoming and interesting.

Hi Janis, it sounds as if you live in an area where members have joined but nobody has started suggesting activities yet. Stitch is a member-based community, so everything that happens in the community relies on members. It can take a little while to get started in the beginning, as social anxiety makes it daunting for members to get involved, but we've seen hundreds of communities get started once one or two local members tell us they'd like to help make it happen. It's only a matter of time for it to happen in your area. If you'd like to get involved in helping us make that happen, please check out the Stitch Pioneer Program, where we provide support to members who would like the community to be more active in their areas. We've started over 50 new communities through the program over the last year, and it's very rewarding!

Friendship
I wanted to meet new people and have fun doing different activities. A lot of activities involve food, we all need to eat but nice to sometimes find something to enjoy that does involve food and the costs. There are lovely people who are very welcoming. I am happy to have found stitch

I joined stitch in October 2025 i have found it a brilliant way to meet up with other people , socialise and make new friends.I would definately reccomend it to anyone .
You recieve regular updates regarding what events are on in your area and other area's if you are willing to travel. I am always out enjoying myself

Stitch has been life-changing for me....
I first joined Stitch 8 years ago and was soon organising my own events as well as attending those of the other amazing organisers. So much variety, there is an event for almost everything I can think of.
I have made life-long friends through this platform, some who I have travelled internationally with and some who are now my 'besties'.
ALL of my friends over 50 are now also Stitch members. Some couldn't wait for the BIG 50 simply because my social life was better than there's and they wanted to be part of it.
Why not give us a go? We have so much fun!!!

When I joined the Stitch
When I joined the Stitch, I didn’t know what to expect, I wasn’t sure I will be welcome, but at the very first Stitch event we went for a walk and followed by coffee and socialising, all the members were kind, friendly and welcoming and that put me at ease and I started going for more events and meet more nice people.
I do recommend for people over 50 to join the Stitch and make friends and have fun with other Stitch members.

Ready for an international chin-wag?
My world expanded consideraby with my connection to Stitch. This is where a digital domain meets the 'real world' as most people our age prefer some degree of social intercourse and some are exceptionally good at this.
In the digital realm, an international membership provides important perspective changes and on infrequent occasions, more intimate connections
While i still don't know all the rules of Stitch, religion and politics are frowned upon in 'conversations' as this can, almost instantly lead to quarrels.
If you wish to expand an existing life or start one (me), then Stitch can certainly provide a atrong foundation for the experimenter or the curious....all that's needed is the willingness....and the membership fee (which they need to rephrase the request for).
