Deserves a 0 star.

I am locked into a 5 year contract... and I am 99% sure that I was very clear about not signing on for more than 3 years max. I wouldn't even sign a 5 year lease due to uncertainty about the viability of the practice, so why would I have agreed to 5 years? They were deceptive from day 1, and from the other reviews I have read, this isn't the first time.

Now, when trying to cancel, after only having one pick up in 2 years, which I didn't need, the best they could do was only charge me for the CLIA/HIPAA nonsense that was a waste from the beginning. I was told to call back this March to cancel fully, but now they can't seem to find this in the "customer service notes." Big surprise! Why would I have written down to do this if that isn't what I was told?

If I cancel now, I have to pay the full amount of the 5 year contract. What a scam! This is by far one of the worst companies that I have even dealt with, and I suggest that you look elsewhere for these services.

Worst Customer Service I've ever experienced!

Once this company has you signed up, you are at the mercy of their customer service call center located overseas. I am an office manager and have never had such Horrible customer service. The person taking your call can not assist with the simplest of tasks. Rescheduling pickups is impossible. We were scheduled for a pick up on Thanksgiving Day! It took at least 10 hours of my time calling and calling to get it changed. The same thing happened Christmas Day! All I needed was for them to reschedule those pickups and it was an impossible task without me spending hours and hours, calling multiple times to get the pick ups moved. Then, they showed up when we were closed between Christmas and New Years, which I notified them of during the many, many phone calls. This is just one example. I have a list of Ticket numbers from the past year that is unbelievable! Beware! If you hire them, be prepared to waste a ton of time, which translates to money, when you need customer service! I am currently waiting the pickup of the shred boxes, which took 3 weeks to get a phone call from a "supervisor" to close the account!

If I could leave 0 stars I would… been a customer SINCE 2001. Never had any issues other than speaking or calling… 1. Either you can’t understand someone talking overseas. 2. When you finally find someone speaking English they promise the next person you’ll talk to will be in the US, and that is never true. 3. A simple question that you’d think would take seconds to answer ends up taking 15 minutes of your time. 4. They don’t have supervisors, so they promise a call back from a supervisor with 24-48 hours, that call never came. I’m guessing I WASTED 6 hours of my life being on the phone with someone not American. It is SHAMEFUL companies like these outsource ALL their calls to call centers. You would think with how expensive everything is things would not be this way… very disappointing.

ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY

I had written a review a few months ago when I first signed up for Stericycle and how the sales rep misled me on the services that would be provided. Fast forward 6 months and I need to cancel the account bc we no longer need the services and I am aware of the fees to cancel but they tacked on an extra cancellation fee which is not mentioned in the termination language and refused to cancel the contract immediately bc they wanted proof the clinic was closed. NORA VERA the absolute worst in customer service still will not cancel my account immediately and is making me wait 60 days so they can collect even more money from me.

RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

Unreliable liars with horrible service

Unreliable liars with horrible service. They've been scheduling pickups since June of 2024 and today January 16th, 2025, they still haven't shown up for a single one.

Locked into a second 5 year contract

We have gotten locked into a second 5 year contract because of the automatic renewal clause. I really hate dealing with these people. They suck. Please save yourself years of being irritated and avoid them.

DO NOT RECOMMEND: Unreliable service and terrible customer service

My company has a business account for ad/hoc one time pick ups of our secure shred console bin. Every time I schedule a pick up, they never come on the scheduled date. They either decide to come a day early and NOT NOTIFY US of the change, or they just don't come at all. We are a hybrid company, so I specifically make sure to come in to the office for a scheduled pickup day to let them in, and they are wasting my time. Customer service is outsourced and useless. They just say that need to contact the local branch, and they can never get in touch or ever actually help. I've had the same issue for every single pick up I have scheduled for the past year (2024). EVERY SINGLE SCHEDULED PICKUP has been an issue.

Their customer service is the WORST!!!!!!!!!!!

Only giving them a '1' because '-1' is not an option. Worst customer service from a company I have had in a long time. If you want someone to actually show up and provide service, find a different company.

Total Harassment Experience with…

Total Harassment Experience with Shred-it

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Stericycle/Shred-it that I feel compelled to share. Unfortunately, I have been subjected to ongoing harassment that has severely affected my peace of mind and my day to day operations.

In the beginning they were ok, I think they were sold several times and the company that governs their actions is more than just a cluster mess. Ever since I cancelled and paid in full my invoices I now receive unwanted calls, aggressive communication, or threatening emails. Despite my efforts to resolve this by reaching out to their customer service multiple times, the harassment continued without any resolution.

The lack of accountability and support from Stericycle/Shred-it is concerning. I expected a reputable company to handle customer interactions with professionalism and respect, but this was not my experience.

I caution others to be aware of the potential for harassment when dealing with Stericycle/Shred-it. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I strongly simply do not do business with this company but if you choose to or are already working with them I recommend documenting all interactions and seeking assistance from professionals or consumer advocacy groups.

Issues with Extra Material incorrectly charged

They charge you for extra material tote that never was pick up. They were charging me for 3 additional totes that were never really pick up they are trying to be smart and pinned to our company account.
I have called on several occasions the customer service department with no success; Today after speaking with a supervisor, she was kind to check deeply and found that I never had 3 extra totes material, and they gave me a credit of 279.00 dollars The call took 45 minutes with a good result

Misleading and Terrible Customer Service

I joined Stericycle on 9/1/2024 and was told I would have quarterly services at roughly $188 a pick up. I was then sent a bill for September and October on 9/15 for an annual Subscription for OSHA and pick up. My sales Rep Ivan Rodriguez never once mentioned to me I would be paying for a monthly subscription. To make matters worse out first pickup was missed I had to call 5 days in a row and spend hours on the phone each day to try to see when the pickup would be rescheduled and all I got was the run around. Finally on the 5th day of calling I said I would like to cancel my services and miraculously my pickup was immediately rescheduled. I still asked to cancel my services as I believe there was a breach of contract for the missed pickup, terrible customer service, and for the sales rep misleading me and selling me a subscription product. I was then redirected to a retention specialist Nora Vera who was very unhelpful and told me that to cancel I would have to pay the entire year since I signed a contract and kept giving me a scripted response that she was obviously taught to provide. I asked her multiple times what the company considered a breach of contract, but she refused to provide me with examples and instead told me I was in the wrong since I signed the MISLEADING contract. I am now stuck in a contract with them even though I tried to cancel after being a customer for less that 3 weeks and provided ample examples of the negligence the company did but they refused to take any responsibility. I DO NOT RECOMMEND using them as they outsource anyway to local companies to do their pickups. My suggestion is just to google a local company and use them.

The people that pick up are fine

The people that pick up are nice and friendly, but the billing is ALWAYS wrong! It takes so much time and effort to reconcile their errors and try to get them to correct them.

Once you give them your email address

Once you give them your email address, they will never leave you alone. There's no way to unsubscribe and when you ask to be removed, they send more emails! Overpriced, completely inept. I will never do business with these clowns again.

Company purposely creates costly mistakes and will not adjust

Company purposely underestimated amount to be picked up. Although the local branch could have sent another truck to resolve issue the same day, salesman refused to process. I was then charged for two pickups. I paid tje amount that would have been due if all had picked up at one time. I tried twice to resolve issue. Company refused to accept responsibility for their mistake. They turned the remaining amount of money over to a collection agency and my credit rating will be damaged if not paid. This is fraudulent behavior.

ITS BEEN EIGHT MONTHS I HAVE ASKED THEM TO CANCEL NO ONE EVER PICKED UP ANYTHING AND THEY STILL SEND A BILL EACH MONTH AND PUT OUT COLLECTIONS FOR SOMETHING E NEVER GOT FROM THEM. WORST COMPANY EVER DO NOT ISE THEM!!!!!

Run from Stericycle!

Stericycle is just another corporation with greedy practices and falls short of providing the services in their contract (they are in breach of their own contract). Anytime I have had an issue, I get told by "customer service" that a supervisor is not available and someone will call me back within TWO business days. I have yet to have a phone call returned. They do no care if there is a problem, they say they will contact this person or that but nothing ever gets resolved. To be stuck under contract with a useless company that does NOT delivery what is clearly outlined in their contract for FIVE years, is unacceptable. These reviews are blasted all over the internet so I have no idea how this company is still in business. They are clearly stealing money from companies and filling the pockets of the CEO.
