Saga offered a good quote. The website was a little difficult (apparently due to a system changeover), so I had to phone Saga the following day to pay and to check a couple of policy details. My call... See more

Maybe not the cheapest but quite easy to get the insurance online I would recommend them. They came in a little bit cheaper than go compare money supermarket you switch.

Be careful with Saga Travel Insurance as Saga’s underwriter, ‘Collinsons’ impose an unfair and unreasonable system that Saga willingly enforces.
Having regularly been covered by travel insurance for over 60 years I have had, on previous occasions, found myself informing my travel insurer that I have been referred to my GP for a hospital appointment to have an issue checked out. In the past, with other travel insurers, I have been told my insurance will continue but the condition, subject to the hospital referral, will not be covered. I fully understand and appreciate that underwriters cover themselves in this way.
I have been without travel insurance since 4th December 2025 (I am composing this in August 2026). A skin issue I had was referred to Dermatology as my GP sought a confirmation that the issue was “minor sun damage” and not something more serious. At the same time my GP prescribed a cream that cleared up the issue. However with our ‘wonderful’ NHS, I have now checked and the waiting list is over 40 weeks for Dermatology, so no holiday for a year, as I have to either have a diagnosis or confirmation the skin issue has cleared up. Saga Travel Insurance, following their underwriter’s policy, immediately suspended my entire travel insurance informing me “their underwriter, Collinsons, dictate that if any health issues, no matter how minor, that is under investigation, the policy holder is suspended from booking any holiday” – ‘nice one!
I did contact Saga Travel Insurance, after some months, and had my premium for my annual travel insurance refunded from the date of GP referral, but that is no consolation.
I note which? Consumer Association rate Saga Travel Insurance as a “best buy”, they obviously do not ask the correct questions when evaluating policies.
I will never again trust Saga Insurance.

I note that Saga’s response does not refute any fact stated in my review.
There is no point in my taking advantage of the ‘chat’, offer. What I have described, I see as a serous failure that could affect all policy holders and a failing most likely to be in breach of the Financial Conduct Authority requirement for insurers’ to “Treat Customers Fairly”.
Trust Pilot readers can be the judge as my review was to, hopefully, prevent others being similarly disadvantaged. I have no trust in Saga Insurance.

60% increase in premium for declaring a minor no fault incident. No claim was made on our Insurance as the third party Insurers accepted full liability. We have been penalised for a third parties careless accident. SAGA, as probably any Insurer, were completely unsympathetic and blamed Insurance underwriters. These companies use it as an excuse to exact more profit. We thought that if innocent no change and if responsible for any claim then premium would be affected.
