Rbc used to be the best bank
Rbc used to be the best bank. It was the first bank I ever dealt with but they’ve become the absolute worst. You cannot speak with a human to save your soul. I’ll be closing all my accounts with these psychopaths and find a least psychopathic group of bankers to keep my money and investments. If there is such a thing?

So I've been a customer since 1998, had a business and private account with RBS
Recently they have been sending me text messages to say they are reducing my overdraft, then a few months later they reduce it again. Well i’m off to another bank.
I have never in 27 years been over my limit, never been bankrupt and never defaulted on any payments, clearly my loyalty and good banking custom in the years means zero to you. Your AI system is now controlling our accounts and you don’t have interest in good customer relations to check what’s happing.
What an absolutely lousy company
What an absolutely lousy company when you phone first of all they thank you for waiting on hold for a half an hour if you're not your choice you wouldn't do it if you couldn't second of all when you get somebody on the phone 90% of them can't speak English English is not their first language they have no idea what you're talking about and then you deal it's just it's a horrible company Royal Bank has got to be the worst company on the face of this Earth
Thier tel service is extremely difficult to access
Their telephone service is extremely difficult to navigate, which passes along all vital emergency info online. Their phone instruction doesn't match what happens online. This is not about a long wait, it doesn't allow you to get to a waiting state and purely wastes your time repeating the dial then hangup after mistake and calling again etc while they don't. Compared to this, BMO has a very instant response to deal with your issues on line. Same with other credit unions. Additionally, the general friendliness of two people I spoke with was, a tad bit condescending, so to speak, compared to Credit Union and BMO. But they have branches in areas I go so keep the account and activity. Wish they were more regular customer-friendly eh..
PLS NOTE: ASIDE FROM ONLINE EXPERIENCE, each physical branch experience is quite positive, friendly, patient, and spend plenty of time to give you a great help every time I go visit. So local branch service is consistentlhy 4 to 5. This reivew is only on line experience
I am an RBC customer in Chestermere
I am an RBC customer in Chestermere, Alberta, and I do not like writing negative reviews, but I feel I need to share my experience.
On multiple visits to this branch, the customer service has been very disappointing. There are often only two tellers available while six or seven customers are waiting in line. I understand that employees need breaks, but the branch should still be staffed appropriately to serve customers in a reasonable amount of time.
What has been most disappointing is not only the wait time, but the way customers are treated. When I raised my concern with one teller, who was not wearing a visible name badge, the response I received was rude and dismissive. On another visit, I witnessed another customer raise a similar concern and receive the same type of response.
During my most recent visit, I entered the branch in a positive mood and left feeling very disappointed. The interaction felt cold and impolite. Basic courtesy, such as saying “please” and “thank you,” was missing. I was simply told to “insert your card” and “put in your PIN,” with no polite tone or customer service approach.
It is also concerning that some employees do not appear to wear visible name badges, which makes it difficult for customers to identify who they are speaking with when they need to provide feedback.
I continue to visit this branch mainly because I live nearby, but the repeated lack of courtesy and professionalism has made the experience very frustrating. Customers are expected to treat employees with respect, and I believe customers deserve the same respect in return.
I hope someone in RBC management reviews this feedback and takes action to improve staffing, professionalism, and customer service at this branch.
Unprofessional
If I could give it a zero rating, I would. Usually I don’t even write reviews, so I’m pretty angry by this. RBC closed my personal banking account and gave me zero letter or email warning me that this would be happening. I called customer service and told them I urgently needed them to send me an email stating WHY this account was closed. The representative told me there were zero notes explaining why this account was terminated, and gave me an approximate 7-10 day wait time for the email to be sent to my inbox. Today was the 10th day, and there is still no email. I called customer service again, only to be told by a representative that the issue was only marked as a complaint, and there was nothing stating that anything has to be sent out to me in their notes. He told me he was going to put a rush on it, and that I could expect to wait a few more days. He also stated there would be a new reference number sent to my inbox, but there still isn’t a reference number over an hour later. RBC is the most broken, unprofessional bank I have ever been with. I do not recommend. Take the other negative reviews as a confirmation.
Rude security - Howard Ave Branch
Last weekend I found myself pulling into RBC on Howard, in Windsor, to withdraw additional funds for a large purchase.
As a person with physical limitations due to the long term injuries, when carrying large sums of money I bring a trusted freind, who has a service history before coming to Canada from Europe. I'm sure you can imagine, he is far faster than I am when getting out of a vehicle.
As such, he held the door as I made my way only to be rudely questioned by the security guard as to what he was doing ?!?
I immediately left, and used one of my primary bank machines.
I'm not an RBC client, and after seeing the security guard so miserable as to question an act of kindness sailed the nail that it will never happen while I'm on this marble.
Rude lady !
Extremely poor experience with RBC.
Extremely poor experience with RBC.
I was locked out of my account for several days due to repeated “technical difficulties” messages with no clear communication or resolution. I had to call and wait on hold for a long time just to find out my account had actually been closed, with no prior notice or explanation. RBC stated they were ending their banking relationship with me but did not provide a reason.
I was told a bank draft was issued and mailed, but I have not received it. This is consistent with ongoing issues I’ve had receiving mail from RBC, which was never properly addressed. I also did not receive a debit card during the first several months of having the account, only receiving one much later.
Customer service has been poor overall, with long wait times and difficulty getting clear answers.
Overall, the lack of communication, unreliable access to services, and inability to access my own funds in a timely way has made this an extremely frustrating experience.
ATM sysytem died
Their ATM. Machine lag and broke down while i am depositing a payment of $5000. Now they take away wasting my time on investigations and wouldn't even pay out my interest. Crooks!
I have been a customer with this bank…
I have been a customer with this bank for more than 30 years in the Bahamas, I have financed two real estate projects through them and it was beautiful, because at the time I was allowed to pay my mortgage and I was allowed to pay additional on the mortgage or the principal within a month or the signing of the mortgage. I have taken out another mortgage with this bank, only this time there were stipulations where I had to sign stating that I could not make additional payment towards my mortgage until one year after the date of the mortgage. I love my bank and I will always be a RBC CUSTOMER, but I am not please with the added clause that they added to their agreement.

Here's the email I just responded to RBC with when their Fraud department told me that there was no fraud by the payment processor of a scam organization... In other words, they insinuate if there was any fraud, it was mine. It's like they don't even try any more. People should divest from RBC before it ruins itself.
"Platformia only PROCESSED payments for Finance St Pierre, which I keep mentioning to RBC, but RBC can't even acknowledge that back. Yeah. Great investigation. You should be very proud of serving your company so well by denying there's a problem (but I'm a client, so bite me, you incompetent fraud department)."
Honestly, RBC is the biggest of the bad ones. I've been with them 32 years. Not much longer, though. Do yourself a favor. Choose almost ANYBODY else.
HORRIBLE customer service
HORRIBLE experience... hours on hold, demand numerous security questions for trivial information. It has been utterly impossible to replace a lost credit card even when I'm actively signed in to my online banking and have debit card on hand.
Constant password issues
Constant password issues. I was locked out kf my house so I tried to pay with my debit card to a locksmith to get back in and they flagged it as fraud suspicion and blocked my card so im 73 and I was not only locked out kf my home but they blocked my card so I had no money and couldn't pay a locksmith to get back in my home and take my medications kept inside. They insist on my somehow waiting til the next day and going to the bank in another town with no money to have them fix it. Im closing this account as soon as possible thank God it's not winter or id be sleeping in the snow at 73 years old because they randomly blocked my card with no explanation and my online banking. Absolute disgrace.

Stay clear of RBC they are the absolute worst bank. They let funds go through in my account meanwhile I had no money in my account and in the past my pne payment was short a dollar and they didnt let it go through then they charged me 315.00 worth of NSF fees and today I went to try and get some groceries and I had 880 dollars in my other account come to find out they took basically all of my money and left me with basically nothing and they dont do anything to help you I was balling my eyes out and they do not care heartless people I tell ya after this I am definitely switching banks
Abysmal online service in recent weeks…
Abysmal online service in recent weeks from the Royal Bank of Canada. I've been a loyal customer for decades, but recently thanks to two factor authentication issues, the connection with Quicken regularly fails. Calling customer service brings excuses and no help from the staff. When I ask to escalate this to a higher level, I get stonewalled.
I am now on the hunt for a bank that offers good online customer service. Does such a bank exist in Canada?
Virtual debit card erased - lost phone plan and almost lost insurance because of RBC
I asked for a physical debit card (with over 50000 CAD in the bank and 10000 CAD in TFSAs) - they only gave me a digital one. I applied for a credit card and it didn't even appear that I did. Each time I call they say they'll get back to me.
Now I am abroad for the next 2 months and my electronic debit card dissappeared.
Because of them I almost lost my renter's insurance on my place in Montreal and I lost my Chatr plan and phone number!
I think I should sue them.
By the way I am paying from a foreign account for the insurance - extra fees, loss on exchange rates etc. I have opened an account online with a different bank and am waiting to get back to activate my new physical debit card and move all my money into the new bank.
I can't buy my own plane tickets, rent a vacation home etc cuz of their extremely low limits on the virtual debit card. I certainly will only keep the rbc account open until I finish graduate school. They have deeply disappointed me.
DON'T TRUST THE ROYAL BANK IN INVEST WISELY
RBCD CHARGES FEES WHEN THEY TELL YOU THERE ARE NO FEES.
RBCD MAKES STUPID INVESTMENT DECISIONS, INVEST A LARGE SUM PAYING 1/4% CND CHARGES A FEE OF 1.25%.
I have a business account and this bank…
I have a business account and this bank is the absolute worst bank. No customer service, wait times on the phone over an hour. Nobody knows how to actually solve a problem. This is what we pay bank fees for, horrendous service. This is enough of a reason to leave a bank.
My elderly mother has dealt with the…
My elderly mother has dealt with the Southdale location in Winnipeg. She has had a Financial planner named Karen Roman for over ten years. Our family cannot say enough about how pleased we are for how she has advised my mom. She goes out of her way to do all of the little extras that she could be deferring to others. She is knowledgeable and relays information with clarity. She has rescheduled appointments when requested and works out of a few locations always ensuring that she makes the drive to my mom’s location to accommodate her. RBC is lucky to have Karen as their employee and we would recommend her to anyone looking for a financial planner! Thanks Karen.
