Buggy Experience

There are a number of bugs that have crept into Quicken over the years. It crashes about once a week, it cannot properly establish the money market fund for investment accounts, and it's understanding of mouse position is poor. When accepting downloaded transaction, clicking on one transaction often selects a different transaction. The budget reporting has recently developed errors in totaling within a category. Changing the interval corrects the error but it causes concerns about the accuracy of its reporting.

too expensive for my simple uses

too expensive for my simple uses; no training the FULL capabilities of Quicken, so who cares and why am i paying for that stuff; Quicken security screws me more than any evil person. In other words, I'm the only one it keeps out of my account.

I find Quicken easy to use

I find Quicken easy to use; it meets my relatively simple requirements. I have used it for more than twenty-five years. The only reason I did not rate Quicken a “5” is that it cannot figure out typos (like my iPhone does) and suggest that maybe I meant “Home” when I typed “Homr.”

I have used Quicken for over 20 years

I have used Quicken for over 20 years. I regret it every day. Sometimes twice a day. Sometimes in my dreams I set fire to my laptop.

I have so many accounts and such a long history it is very hard to switch over to another program, although I will in a few years. I swear. Daily.

I don't even know where to begin with the problems:

Program crashes more than a drunk on Saturday night, updates almost always have issues and bugs, I have "lost" chunks of random data that I had to manually track down and re-enter. Cannot save on my one drive (found that out too late)... the current Quicken horror show - let's just say I have to now backup every 15 minutes when using the program or risk losing entire files. Whole registers just "disappear" randomly. AWESOME.
On the plus side Quicken helped me find meditation and I have taught several little kids how to cuss while working. THANKS QUICKEN!

I WISH I COULD SUE YOU FOR ANTICHRIST ACCOUNTING PRACTICES. I HATE YOU SO MUCH.

Very buggy software.

What Quicken has been doing, or not doing, regarding downloads from Fidelity has come close to ruining my life. One obvious omission is any form of communication with its Fidelity customers. My Fidelity checking account is a disaster after Quicken made unannounced changes that are NOT WORKING well for me at all. I decided to give up on using downloaded transactions for my Fidelity checking account. The Quicken Support Team is doing a terrible job with this, always provide the same remedy which simply does not work. Why, when I try again to correct the download linkages is Quicken/Fidelity unable to locate my "Ultra" account, that has about $5,000,000 in it and has been, until about April 2026 been able to correctly download transactions for over 30 years. Now? not at all. This is terrible and what makes it worse is this all happened with no communication at all, no warning, and none of the support staff know how to correct the issues so they just mess up your data when they go onto your Quicken remotely and fool around. Deeper into Quicken Development surely someone realizes they have created a disaster but that information is being kept from the support team. If Quicken didn't have a monopoly I would switch in a heart beat.
Now to add to my list of complaints, Quicken, without any notice to me, set up my account for automatic renewal and before my year license expired, charged me their "list" price for a renewal, depite the fact that I have a renewal product key ready to post that I purchased from Best Buy for a lower price than Quicken charges. I am extremely disappointed by Quicken's lack of morality.

Over 30+ Years of Using Quicken

Have used Quicken to balance my checkbook for over 30 years—easily, accurately and efficiently. Only once when I needed help during all these years, their tech support was right there with expertise and kindness. Quicken’s new products are exactly what I need so have subscribed to LifeHub and more protection for my account.

Not a fan of the annual renewal forced…

Not a fan of the annual renewal forced payment model. I don’t see anything that has been done over the last year that approaches value for cost of the renewal. I liked being able to buy the software, then deciding when or if to upgrade based on the improvements.

Also wish you would specifically ask long time users about their pain points with the product. If you are going to stick with a renewal model, at least try and fix the right things instead of just bloating the product.
I’ve been using Quicken for a LONG time and will likely continue to but every year I question the value proposition a little more.
