Fantastic equipment and budget friendly.
A fantastic gym, with space and equipment catering to all fitness styles and sports while keeping the membership budget friendly and affordable. Gym chains or leisure centres usually fall into the trap of having an unnecessary amount of cardio machines and not much else, but the Heanor PureGym branch has a fully functional rig complete with lifting platforms, a sizeable functional fitness space with all the necessary equipment, and a good variety of machine equipment and bodybuilding benches. The lifting platforms are a great asset, given that commercial gyms very rarely cater for this. All in all, whatever style of fitness you're into, PureGym Heanor can accommodate. My only small complaint is the heating system is on an automatic timer, and having the heating come on in June whilst halfway through a Metcon is not the one!

Straightforward membership…
Straightforward joining and membership process, and 24/7 access make it much .ore flexible (for me) than other options. Friendly and helpful staff too!

Only downfall is air-con is never on.

Good gym but no safeties
Really nice gym but there's no safeties for you to be able to squat safely. There's a rack which you could add bars onto but doesn't have suitable flooring.
For someone who is trying to build strength back up after a knee injury, this makes squatting safely at slightly heavier weights really difficult. The racks themselves also seem quite flimsy

Great gym
Great gym, but it's far too hot the air conditioning doesn't seem to be on also no cleaning stations. I like to give the equipment a quick wipe before I use it.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We would like to assure you that we are reviewing feedback and will ensure this is addressed in club. Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers.

Not safe to squat..
There is absolutely nowhere in there to squat safely with weight. There are no safeties on the lifting platforms so you are unable to squat heavy safely there (this is really where the safeties should be). The only squat safeties are on a squat rack BUT it's not a lifting floor! It's a very unsafe soft floor that is just asking for ankle and knee injuries. However, good little gym for excellent price. Just think many powerlifters/those who want to squat may start leaving when they want to lift heavy safely.

Not a bad gym but not alot of machines…
Not a bad gym but not alot of machines just alot of cables .definitely need a calf raise also no ankle wraps for cable kick backs and one last thing weights are never in order have to dig weights out on a day to day basis 😐

I enjoy the gym becuase its close to my home, its pricdd right, the equipment is hood, the space is great, but best of all the staff are really helpful and engage well with me.

Great gym - Few bits needed to be perfect
Great gym, staff all great - just what the town needed!
I train every morning (Mon-Fri) and a few additional items of kit and an extra shower would make it a solid 5/5 - the functional area could really do with a track/sled and also a tyre which would make it a “proper” functional area…and the extra shower for early morning when most people train and shower before work, there’s regularly a queue which isn’t ideal when you’re wanting to get away on time.
Aside of that - staff super friendly and gym is spotless so can’t fault it 👍🏼
