Manger called budget tyres “ditch finders”

I had some budget tyres fitted at this branch back in 2025. They have been very good… then a few months later I asked them to fit some more budget tyres.. the manager said “what ditch finders” and said he would never for budget tyres on his car, which seemed strange.

I went to another garage who supplied and fitted the “ditch finders” I asked about the quality of them, and was told they all have to meet a standard.

Returning home I looked up the “ditch finder” tyres approvals and certifications, turns out they are rated to 186 mph. My car is limited to 155 mph, so perfectly safe when in Germany for example! Here in the UK I don’t think 70mph is going to be a problem.

Perhaps the manager would like to explain what he means by “ditch finders” ?

There is a cost of living crisis on so making customers feel guilty for fitting budget tyres is not very kind or professional. I fit them as I find they are excellent, they wear well, and as so cost effective you can replace them more often.. tyres with a good depth of tread are much more effective than an expensive “Branded” tyre that is down to 1.6mm of depth..

Great service

I had an aircon service and was very pleased with the service. Lovely staff who were polite and helpful. You even get free tea/coffee!

Reception were spot on and very helpful…

Reception were spot on and very helpful tyres were a good price etc . Got my car back to find oily hand prints on the inside of the door on ivory leather and also around the starter button .
Following day while washing my car I found the passenger door had a crease in the top of the A frame which definitely wasn’t there before as I know every mark / blemish on my car .

I was there for about 30 minutes…

I was there for about 30 minutes waiting for two tyres. In that time yer man on reception dealt with many different types of people. He multi tasked better than any woman I know. Great job. The free coffee was naff, but it was free

​I am extremely disappointed with the…

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of empathy and professionalism at this branch. Today, I got a puncture in a remote, wooded area. I managed a temporary fix, but the tyre is losing air rapidly. I found this shop on Google and rushed here, arriving at 17:20—a full 10 minutes before their official closing time.
I politely explained my situation and begged them to help me, as I still have a 15-mile drive ahead of me to get home safely. They flatly refused, claiming they were already closed, and told me to come back tomorrow. To make matters worse, they directed me to "another tyre shop just two streets away" that they claimed was still open. I trusted them and went there, only to find it completely closed—something they undoubtedly already knew. They simply lied to get rid of me.
Leaving someone stranded in a vulnerable situation when you still have 10 minutes left on the clock shows a complete lack of basic humanity and customer care. I definitely do not recommend them.
