Be VERY careful with your personal…

Be VERY careful with your personal information when purchasing from this online store. This company doesn’t value their customer’s needs nor do they handle privacy issues well. Poor customer service overall. Thankfully, there are safer sites for Canadians to shop for gear hardware.

Great customer service

I've used this company a few times now and always been pleased with both the quality of the products and the level of service. For my last order I experienced a modest problem with the courier company seeking an additional payment for tax that I had already paid. Marta from the company was tenacious in getting it resolved for me, a sure sign of a company that values customer service.

Great selection & prices (even if you're in the US)

I've bought six times over the past 7 years. When I first stumbled upon them, I didn't think it would be economical to buy so far away (shipping, import duty). But, I could never find the same things cheaper in the US. If you buy 1-2 things in low quantity, it costs about the same as domestically. But, larger quantities I couldn't find for a lower price. (I might find someone selling 1-2 things at the same price, but then I have to find everything else somewhere else. It's nice to have everything in one place AND the right price.). I've placed 3 large orders. With volume discounts at the product level, and discount on the order level (and the consolidated shipping of one order), it comes out very well.

Payment from the US is easy. Paypal, credit card, bank wire xfer. The US exempts the first $800 (includes shipping) from import duty (pre-Trump. Not sure what's happening now.). That's called "de minimis" Above $800, it is (was?) 4-5% duty. So, from $1 to $800 you save money on consolidated shipping and volume discounts on each product. At $800 you get hit with 4-5%. At $1000 (not including shipping) you get 3% back from PH. You start getting larger volume discounts on each item. So, you want to be under $800 (cost and shipping), or go a bit more than that to start saving more.

I'm really thankful for finding them. I'm doing some things I wouldn't be doing if I hadn't. (It was just too tedious trying to find everything domestically. Having a full menu of choices was a relief.

Hidden costs and delays

Guys we placed a 2.5k order but it's not been delivered and your carrier now wants to add vat and some extra charges not detailed at order

You were already more than our current supplier but quoted a much quicker time for delivery

We provided our eori number and it doesn't look like you gave this the carrier

We've asked you to sort this and your just not sorting it out please can you do this asap as the order is very late

We cannot do your job for you on shipping and dealing with ups which is like nailing jelly to a wall

Why don't you respond and sort this please

Please help urgently

Regarding the EORI number, we have provided the carrier with the information you provided; however, it appears that there was an error in the number you provided. There was a missing digit '5' in your EORI number which made it invalid. We've contacted the carrier to correct this error, but it may take some time for them to respond.

We understand that shipping issues can be frustrating and we're doing our best to resolve this situation as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Dissatisfied customer!

If you are considering doing business with Pet Hardware, my advice would be - DON'T! I was fooled by their nice website and made a bulk order. When it arrived, I was extremely disappointed by how poor the quality was of the items. There was no way I could use such rubbish products with my business. I sent the items back as per their refund policy, but instead of getting a refund, they just sent the items back to me. So not only am I out of pocket for buying the hardware that I can't use, I'm now even more out of pocket paying for return shipping that came straight back to me. I don't believe this company has any intention of honouring it's 'refund policy.' I certainly won't be doing business with this company again and would advise anyone thinking of doing so to do at your own risk. Definitely don't make a bulk order before seeing the 'quality' of their products

Our return policy includes a full and hassle-free refund for all customers in a similar situation to yours. I have reviewed your case and found that your return has not yet been received by us.

My colleague sent you an email on 6/6/2023 asking you to send us the tracking number of your shipment so that she could verify the situation. Unfortunately, she has not received a response from you. You have continued to not communicate with us in any way and have not provided us with any information regarding your return.

We apologize for the whole situation, but please understand that if we don't receive the goods back, we can't even refund them. We hope to regain your trust and provide you with a better experience in the future.

I ordered $40 worth of stuff and got a duty bill from UPS for $651.81 in February. Still fighting to get my money back and we are in april now.

The colleague did not keep track of the response time and the whole situation dragged on for a long time. We apologize for these problems. I would not recommend

I would not recommend! Terrible customer service. I wasn’t aware of customs tax as I d never ordered from abroad before. Everything was also in English, not highlighting that it could be taxed either!
Sent numerous emails and telephoned which initially I was told would be answered in minutes. It was not. Still waiting on if I can return my products without incurring more customs charges upon returning! Absolutely no response! No doubt they’ll argue it’s over the 14 day return period next!

Dear Melanie, We understand that customs assessments can be shocking to an inexperienced customer. Especially for UK customers who have been used to ordering from the EU without any charges. But this has changed after BREXIT. We have done our best to make UK customers aware of the new rules. That's why we've added a red flashing text to the last step of the order process, informing you that duty and tax will be calculated when you receive your goods. You had to confirm this text, otherwise, the order could not be completed. If you want to return the goods, you really do have to pay the duty again. My colleague patiently wrote all this information to you in email communication. So it is not true that your questions went unanswered. We are sorry you had this experience. Believe us, we do our best to ensure that customers receive maximum information. We make mistakes, but in this case there really wasn't anything more we could have done.

Objective opinion based on facts

Objective opinion based on facts. A wide range of products at relatively good prices (there are exceptions). The big advantage is fast shipping and order handling - that's great. Customer service - terrible, long response time, infantile messages, constant change of mind and pretending that the products are perfect. Avoid! Metal Side Release Buckle - this is Chinese crap that breaks after a few weeks. We have complaints from clients every day (photo from tooday, we got used to it and have gallery full of photos like that :) ) - many people write this and the store ignores it completely and doesn't care about the quality of the product - it sells well so :). Watch out also for the O Ring - Rose Gold. Another Chinese product - it breaks easily. Weak glue. (up to max 10 kg dog). Webbings are great! Snap Hooks are good but around 10% jams when opening - I recommend testing before production. 3 * is a fair rating. I recommend increasing the quality of the customer service office and starting to be interested in the quality of products - listen to customers.
