It is very difficult to separate our experience with OCL Solicitors and the whole process following our involvement in a car accident. Whilst trying to report and process the claim, we were offered the services of the Claims Management Company. Initially we were well supported, but as soon as the claim was settled with the third party insurers the Management Company revealed that we were involved in a dispute between the two insurers regarding the claim for the hire car. A court case ten years ago was cited (Steven’s v Equity) where a third party insurer contested the inflated hire car charge of a Management Company when the claimant could have afforded to make their own arrangements at a much lower cost. Once our claim was passed to OCL Solicitors we felt that we were responsible. Communication was difficult and rarely with the same person who sent correspondence. When we didn’t reply quickly enough we were advised that we would be responsible for the outstanding amount. As the time lapse was only three days we expressed our concern, only to be told that the letter was from an automated system (therefore they had no control or responsibility). We waited for several weeks to know if/when a date for court proceedings had been agreed, but eventually received an email advising that a settlement had been agreed between the two insurance companies. It has taken a long time to consider writing this review, The anxiety felt during the 5 month process that ran from February to July has returned, but perhaps our experience will help someone else to be very cautious about using an Accident Management Company. It seems that they are more interested in making money out of one another, with little consideration for the clients who have the misfortune to be involved in a road traffic accident.

To what started out as a nightmare, not just with the accident, but with being passed around from one person to the next. I was glad when Tommy took over. He made it clear what was needed to be done and when. He seemed to have had an understanding of my injuries which meant he was patient with me even if I asked things more than once.

He’s an asset to the company.

The whole process was carefully explained from start to finish and any worries I had were quickly addressed, putting my mind at ease. A very friendly and efficient process.
