I have purchased the full brands option. For BMW it's still ok and doing its job. Used it also with few other brands (Ford, Hyundai, Alfa Romeo) and it's decent. However, with my own Range Rover Sport, it's not that good. I can scan but the error codes are generic and you have no explanation about the real problem, meaning that the Carly does not include data for Land Rover. I had to purchase an iCarsoft to get the full access to my car's logs. Yes it's more expensive, but still a one time purchase with lifetime upgrades and for all brands (when with Carly you must pay every year).
I would get it again if I ever needed to work on a vehicle. It was a huge help and it never let me down. Definitely worth the money.

I have submitted 5 tickets to get the same issue resolved. Every ticket has been closed without a resolution. Your support email indicates to reply to them but I have been told that it is a no reply email address. In the end, Carly indicates they cannot support the coding features that are available on their website for 2018+ BMW G05
Also…to suggest to open another support ticket is ludicrous

Worked fine, but I'm not really into the subscription model, especially for something I use so infrequently. Haven't used the device in over a year. I also have non subscription devices that do exactly the same thing...
I'd give them 0 stars if i could, they are utter scammers, they hide the fact that it is a yearly subscription when you purchase. They then charge you the full price again 12 months later!
When you ask to cancel they refuse to refund you, this is obviously their MO and they don't care about ongoing business.
The Scanner is extremely slow to scan and often crashes when clearign codes/making changes and at every opportunity they try and get you to upgrade.
Avoid at all costs, they are complete scammers, there are much more capable scanners out there.

Had it less than a year. It will not connect to the Bluetooth. My phone says it’s connected but the Universal says it isn’t. Have followed all the recommendations but nothing. The only thing these people want to do is sell you an enhanced subscription. Avoid . Not even that good when it was working. Not surprised their Trustpilot score is so poor.
In response to my review they sent me a “link” to “open a ticket “. The link does not work as it does not open. More evidence if it were needed that these comedians have zero customer service. Just AI chatbots . I notice Mat Armstrong has dissociated himself from promoting Carly products. I am not surprised. A total rip off.

After 3 years of usage, I had an issue with my obd adapter. I messaged the carly support and they gave me a very fast reply. I‘m very happy with the help that they provided me.
I bought an adapter and a license for all cars, but it doesn't work for Maserati. I can only check the engine and transmission errors. I contacted customer support, and they said they'd fix it, but they haven't done anything for three months now. And they won't refund my money. Carly only services older Golfs.

I have been using Carly's interface device and app since the 1990's. I have upgraded the device as needed to accomodate new features.
It has worked perfectly and provided much information to me about all the BMWs I have owned. The ability to change settings for many of the options in the vehicle is a real plus. And you can store an image of all your settings and go back to them if you made a mistake.
Their customer service is outstanding. They are competent, knowledgeable, listen well to be sure they understand the questions or situations you have and then go to work.
Really need a proper team of profesional humans to talk to so that the problems can be solved and not via email 100 times and not get solved at all.

Auto-renewed without a clear reminder – no cancel button in the account
I bought the Carly Scanner and a 1-year license in July 2025. I barely used it. On 25 July 2026, my card was charged €89.88 for an automatic renewal I never expected.
The only related email I got, in June, was framed as a price increase notice, not as a "this is your last chance to cancel" warning. When I checked my account for a way to stop the renewal, there was no cancel button — just a message to contact support.
Support cancelled future renewals once I reached out, but refused to refund the charge already taken, citing their terms. Reading through other reviews here, I'm clearly not the only one this happened to — several describe the exact same pattern: no renewal reminder, no self-service cancellation, and near-identical copy-paste replies from support. That's what makes this feel less like a one-off mistake and more like how the system is designed to work.
For a German company, I'd also expect an accessible one-click cancellation option on the site itself, which simply isn't there.
My case is still open with their support team, and I'm hoping they'll reconsider a fair resolution. In the meantime — if you use Carly, don't assume you'll get a clear warning before renewal. Check your renewal date yourself!
UPDATE (31 July 2026):
Following Carly's public reply below, here's how the private conversation with support actually went.
After my initial message, support agreed to cancel future auto-renewals but refused any refund, citing terms and conditions screenshots dated from 2022 — three years before my actual purchase. When I pointed out the missing self-service cancellation option and referenced their own written admission that they "don't currently send separate renewal reminders," a second agent claimed a cancellation button existed at a German-language URL I'd never seen in my (English-language) account, and suggested EU consumer protections only applied to German customers — despite my account being based in Ireland, an EU member state.
I responded with the relevant EU directives and a screenshot showing no cancellation option in my account. The final reply offered no new argument or evidence — just a suggestion to contact my bank, effectively ending the conversation.
So: three refusals in total, each with a weaker justification than the last, and no real engagement with the arguments raised. Readers can compare that to the tone of the public reply above and draw their own conclusions. I'm now pursuing this through my bank's chargeback process instead.
To me, this says a lot about how the company actually operates: when a customer clearly says "I don't want this product, I won't be using it, please refund me," a legitimate business accepts that and moves on. Carly chose to hold onto money for a service I'd explicitly said I wouldn't use, and no amount of reasoning changed that. Based on this experience, I don't trust them with my money going forward and won't be using any of their products again.
If you're dealing with Carly on the same issue: keep every email, screenshot your account (especially the absence of a cancel button), and don't be talked into a partial refund if you believe you're owed the full amount.
