Ordered car battery and problems started

Ordered car battery, wrong one delivered and now into 2 days of calls and broken promises for fitting. No one arrived and no replacement. We are now promised a new date for two days away!
We are now having to cancel hospital appointments. Terrible service sending you around the houses! Still no vehicle to use and still housebound and running out of food!

A few days ago I went over to my local

A few days ago I went over to my local Halfords in Braintree Freeport, in need of a new bike brake lever, this man at the reception directed me to Scott (awesome fella). I asked Scott for some recommendations of what I should do with my broken bike lever which, he sorted me a new one in a matter of seconds. Scott has got amazing knowledge which I could tell when we started talking deeper about bikes. Scott gave me perfect advice and his customer service skills are truly amazing.

Do not under any circumstance purchase…

Do not under any circumstance purchase a bike from Halfords, fine for accessories, although overpriced.
We had the unfortunate experience of purchasing a bike for a teenager's birthday.
We paid £10 for the bike to be built up so that we could collect it.
After a month the rear wheel bearings became loose.
Rang up and booked it in for a warranty repair.
Got the bike back and then after 3 weeks same problem except the bearings fell out, fortunately the bike was being ridden slowly at the time.
Again rang up booked in, appeared and was told to return during the week, although I had been told to take it in, after a heated discussion they allowed us to leave the bike there for the second repair.
A week went by and they decided to upgrade the rear wheel and bearings.
Collected the bike, then the next day the tire was flat, on inspection we found that the inner tube had been damaged by incorrect fitting in store, also the tyre was fitted in the wrong direction.
In the interim I contacted the sales director and had to cite consumer legislation pertaining to warranty periods and corporate liability in the event of an accident caused by faulty goods.
We were not offered a replacement bike, nor a refund.
So, in about 2 or 3 months that's 2 weeks loss of use plus a whole day to and fro to the store.
Have since decided that the quality of anything sold by this clown outfit post around 2010 is Chinese kwap and won't be going back there, unless this bike does a bender soon.
They should have given me a refund as I asked on the second visit because they are on notice that if an accident arises due to faulty goods that they will be sued under case law.
So beware, my tip is to pay more if you can for proper products made in UK or Europe and if you can, source good quality pre 2010 when things were built to last go for that.
Almost forgot the front wheel was fitted also in the wrong direction lol

Bike for the wife

This should be a no star review. I bought a bike for my wife. No help was offered by the staff. I had to initiate the sale discussion, staff appeared not to be interested in customers.
Waited a week for call/text to say it was ready. did not come, had to phone them.
I picked the bike up and rode it home, half mile?
Rode up my drive, dismounted and the r/hand pedal fell off - unscrewed. Any further and I could have had a nasty/fatal accident. On way home I noticed the handlebars and saddle were slightly out of alignment. So checked the bike over and found several units to be loose or out of alignment. Spent the afternoon rectifying what I had paid £10 for them to supposedly do.
Wanted to leave a review as a warning to others but found it impossible to do so on their website. They show giveusasteer.com as the location to leave one. Does not work.
Needless to say, I shall not be taking the bike to them to carry out any servicing, free or not.

Service managed bad

Hi there,
I’ve ordered bike and unfortunately I had to be at work but my wife were at home to receive my order.
Gentlemen who delivered was rude no manners whatsoever and did not show any interest to assist my wife with that massive/large box.
My wife (short lady) dragged through a long corridor till she finally got to our flat!
That’s not the service you would expect!

Missed delivery, repeated delays, and no reliable customer support

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Halfords.
I ordered a bike as a birthday gift for my daughter, specifically choosing Halfords based on the delivery timeframe they advertised. Had I known it would take this long, I would not have placed the order.
Since the original delivery date, I’ve received three separate calls pushing the delivery back, and I’m now being told I need to wait a further 7 days. There has been no clear resolution or confidence that this latest date will actually be met.
What’s made this worse is the level of customer service. Attempts to contact support have been frustrating — emails are not working and the live chat repeatedly disconnects. I’ve effectively been left with no reliable way to get a straight answer or meaningful update.
This has turned what should have been a special occasion into a disappointing experience. At this point, I feel like I’m just being asked to wait indefinitely with no accountability.
I would strongly advise others to think carefully before relying on delivery promises, especially for time-sensitive purchases

Online ordering woes

After using the online shop to make an order for parts they cancelled one item and made another a week later for pick up making all the other purchases pointless so full cancellation was needed with a very slow refund process
Don't use these time wasters

SCAM!! DO NOT GO THERE

Absolute scam!!
Booked my car for a major service, supposed to get a 70+point check and oil, filters and brake fluid changed.
Report only states that oil and filters were changed - not the brake fluid and that only brakes, wipers, lights and tyres were checked. No checklist to prove that anything else was checked.
When i questioned the customer service department the response is that I shouldbhave specifically requested in advance to get a checklist so basically my fault. They said they just expect their customers to trust them so they dont tend to provide reports/checklists as it is "too much to print". And it is also the way their system works so the brake fluid doesn't get mentioned. Absolute joke!
They broke a plastic frame under the bonnet and did not tell me!
On top of rhat the tyres they quoted me wrong R15 size to replace my R16 tyres!!
Scammers..do not use.

Got to say great service in carlow ireland

Got to say great service in carlow ireland store. Popped in without appointment to get new battery for car. Yes I had to wait but when you pop in on spec and the tech is on lunch you should expect nothing more. The tech guy Ger was brilliant, I know more about my car than I did before. He went through everything, checked power going in, power going out , the right battery for make and model( I'd have just bought any battery for a desiel). He checked oil level, topped it up and informed us of best way to check it. He even went as far as checking brake fluid level . Very friendly, and went the extra mile to ensure we had no issues before we left. It wasn't a case we were the only customers there either, there were at least 3 other customers( who also seemed to call in on spec) he was helping out, so it wasn't a case that he had all the time in the world to deal with just us. Excellent work, excellent customer service, staff were brilliant, friendly and knowledgeable especially Ger. Would definitely be recommending Halford in carlow as first port of call for motoring issues.

Never order online with them!

Never order online with them. Read below before you even think about it. Just ordered oil and air filter. The Halfords page auto loaded my old address(you have to sign in if you've ever shopped with them online previously). Noticed the mistake immediately. Rang there customer services who said you can't cancel orders once they are in. 1 HR on hold to be told it might be possible to ask DHL. Rang DHL who advised they can't take changes from anyone but Halfords. Call back customer service at Halfords who suggested after another 20 min using web chat. Web chat.- 30 min wait to get to the front of the queue. Then they said they would take 7 working days to 'consider my request for a refund or address amendment '!! I now await a call from them at some point in the next 2 weeks to be advised of their 'decision'. Unbelievable that in these online days they act like a piria state. Please note EuroCar Parts offer a no quibble refund/cancellation on all online orders processed within 3 working days with comparable prices. I warn you never to shop online with Halfords.

Excellent in store customer service

Excellent in store customer service. I took my electric bike into Halfords for a replacement rear inner tube -faultless service from sending a text reminder to a prompt and efficient repair while I waited. All done at no cost under their warranty scheme. Well done staff at Halfords Norwich.

Bought Carrera Vengance in 2025

In 2025 I bought a Halfords own Carrera Vengence ebike. The staff were rude and unhelpful but I persisted as the bike seemed good value. I agree it is almost impossible to get any support via phone or email. In regard to the bike, it’s ok but I am 60 and the display is too small to read while riding. It turns out it is not possible to upgrade it like most other brands can. Overall I wouldn’t buy another or from them. WE ARE NOT ALL 15 with 20/20 vision guys, come on!

Dash Cam fitted

Dash Cam fitted, fell off windscreen in 4 days. When I phoned told they couldn't do anything for 5 days. So the Dash cam was meant to keep smashing up against the windscreen for 5 days, "yes" was the reply. Asked to speak to someone so I could make a complaint, told take down this reference number and someone will contact you in 3 to 7 day's. That's really quality!

I am not surprised about this rating

I am not surprised about this rating. Only young people are working there who don’t have much experience, I suppose. I bought a bicycle from Halfords — a Carrera Crossfire. I paid £384. It’s the most expensive bicycle I have bought in my life. I had to come back for a service after a few weeks because the bike was new and they said it was going to need some adjustments. After a few weeks, I started having a noise coming from the bottom bracket. After a week, the sound was so awful that I was happy I was cycling at 5am when nobody could hear me. So I came back to Halfords, told them about the problem, and asked them to adjust the gears and brakes as well. They couldn’t take my bike without a booking, so I booked a day. I came back, repeated the problems to make sure they were going to remember what to do. I came back the next day, and they said everything was fine. I realised straight away they hadn’t done anything to my brakes and gears, but I was happy that the sound from the bottom bracket was gone. After a few days, the sound came back. And it got louder and louder every day. I suppose they just sprayed some oil and thought they had fixed it. I came back again after a week or so, explained the problem, and reminded them again to adjust the brakes and gears. Ok. The next day I saw straight away that they had done something with the bottom bracket and the pedals (I don’t know why they tried to prove that the problem could be there as well). Ok. I started cycling home and again straight away I realised they AGAIN didn’t touch the brakes and gears. So I had to adjust my brakes myself, and the gear is not good on 6, but I am afraid to touch it, because the last time I tried to adjust the gears I ended up going to a service anyway )). So now I am thinking of going to another service, although I paid for a Premium
Cycle Care for the whole year.

Two Cabin Filters and Two Oil Filters - Problems With Both…

Two cabin filters and two oil filters ordered at ostensibly sensible prices. Unfortunately, when I went to collect a day after I was informed they were there, the cabin filters were the wrong ones and the oil filters had not arrived. The only option with the cabin filters was a refund, after 'three to five days'. No attempt to get the correct part, and no attempt to correct the incorrect on-line description of the parts. Poor.
