Greystar scams out college students

Greystar scams out college students! They respond to leasing inquiries within hours, but NEVER get back to you when you ask for a refund!

Firstly, their leasing strategy is bit sketchy! They require you to pay one month rent even BEFORE sending you ANY AGREEMENT OR LEASE TERMS!
Also, they deliberately made the payment process very smooth (credit card, etc.) but the refund extremely cumbersome (checks). They had never told me so before I paid! If that was the case, I wouldn't have paid so quickly.

As a college student with little experience, I unsuspectedly paid the $2,005, because they promised full refund if I was not happy with the lease term. However, I have NEVER heard back from them after I asked for refund.

Property: The M Seattle, WA
Payment #156 619 8436
Payment made on Jun 24

Please REFUND in FULL ASAP via my ORIGINAL METHOD OF PAYMENT!

Alvista Trailside Apartments - Greystar Corp

Alvista Trailside Apartments, Englewood, CO - owned by Greystar

I would not give even 1 star but this website does not give that option

Worst place to live EVER!
I will only review my current problem at this time, I have been there a year! WHAT A NIGHTMARE! DO NOT MOVE THERE!

My current problem, smoke/fire alarm keeps malfunctioning! They never fix anything! But this one is a dangerous one to ignore! The after hours emergency # is a joke, it just keeps ringing and ringing and then hangs up! Scary! The fire dept. should go out to that property and inspect!!!

I am absolutely furious with the lack…

I am absolutely furious with the lack of response and complete disregard from the apartment management regarding the appalling living conditions in my apartment. It is utterly disappointing to see such negligence and incompetence from a supposed "professional" management team.

From the moment I reported the numerous issues plaguing my apartment, due to a leakage that happened on the floor right above me, I had hoped for a prompt and effective resolution. However, to my utter disbelief, I have received no response, not even an acknowledgement of my concerns. It is as if my pleas for help have fallen on deaf ears.

The state of my apartment has become completely uninhabitable, posing a severe threat to my health and safety. I have taken extensive measures to document these nightmarish conditions with photographs and videos, providing irrefutable evidence of the filth, hazards, and disregard for basic maintenance.

To make matters worse, I have been forced to seek alternative accommodation at my own expense due to the apartment management's incompetence and inaction which lasted for TWO WEEKS. The financial burden I now bear, all because of their negligence, is simply unacceptable.

This complete lack of responsibility and accountability demonstrated by the apartment management is shocking and disgraceful. As a tenant, I have fulfilled my obligations by promptly reporting these issues and providing substantial evidence. However, it is abundantly clear that the management could not care less about the well-being of their tenants. They don't even respond to my calls because they know my phone number.

I implore anyone considering renting from this establishment to think twice. The management's abhorrent behavior and failure to address legitimate complaints demonstrate their complete lack of professionalism and care for tenants.

I sincerely hope that this scathing review serves as a wake-up call to the apartment management. They must understand the gravity of their negligence and take immediate action to rectify the unlivable conditions they have subjected me to.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. It is evident that the management cares more about their own convenience than the well-being of their tenants. Spare yourself the stress, frustration, and financial burden that comes with dealing with such an unresponsive and irresponsible management team.

I am beyond disappointed and enraged by the apathy displayed by the apartment management. They have not only failed me as a tenant but have also demonstrated their complete disregard for basic human decency.

Issues I dealt with as a tenant at Avana at Happy Valley

Issues I dealt with as a tenant at Avana at Happy Valley (owned by Greystar)
1. No helpful response to cockroaches which required I personally deal with them using Diatomaceous Earth
2. Multiple fires including one used to conceal a homicide
3. Lack of timely trash pickup even though there's a Valet trash fee
4. Multiple squatters and people using/distributing meth and opiates on site, absolutely no response or safety regards from the company
5. And finally multiple fees upon move out even though the unit was spotless and I had fulfilled the 13 month lease. Never rent from these people if you pride safety, price or housing quality. I only rented there desperate for shelter.

Money hungry, bad management

Greystar have shown themselves to be a money hungry machine who tramples of its residents and I would highly recommend you do not reside in any of their properties. We have been here one year and we are now being forced into either signing for another year with 6 month break clause or having to pay £458 more in rent per month for the ‘privilege’ of having a rolling by month contract. I do not treat my own tenants this way and I’ve never heard of this before. We earned the right to roll by month by committing to a year. It’s very hard to find a rental at the moment so they are trapping us between two awful decisions. Our rent for a 2 bed flat in Croydon will now be £2,609 (they are advertising other 2 beds in the building for (£2,200) as we desperately want to move out and so we have to take this risk and absolutely must find another place to live ASAP. We have a baby about to go to nursery and CT is going up. This increase will leave us with to barely any money but we cannot commit to another 6 months as we really want a garden for our baby. We appealed to management and they would not negotiate, it was humiliating to be invited to a meeting and not heard. This situation has really caused me a lot of sadness and keeps me up at night. Do not fall into this company’s trap.

The company is a rip-off machine and it…

The company is a rip-off machine and it is too bad I can't give them less than one star.
Besides forcing tenants to sign an agreement to pay two months rent in case of breaking a contract, they also charge an "Insufficient Notice Fee" if you inform them about that in less than 60 days. I lived in the apartment owned by Greystar for five months and after I lost my contract and had to move out I was charged almost three months' worth of rent. A semi-decent hotel room would cost me the same amount or less. In addition to the cost of rent, the company is also charging for everything else including the Pest Control which didn't help in my former FL apartment roaches owned the place throughout my whole entire stay. The most brazen charge was for a "valet trash" service, that no one was using anyway. The justification for that service from the rental place was "too much wildlife around the apartment complex." Like those people who suppose to collect your trash from your doorsteps wouldn't put it into the same trash container where tenants are dumping it anyway, stay away from this company and save your sanity and the frustration of dealing with the endless charges after moving out.

We took over a sub-let lease for two…

We took over a sub-let lease for two months and we’re then told a renewal of that lease would render service orders useless. We learned that for 2 yrs others complained about poor conditions of carpet etc. Nothing was done. When I enquired about it I was told I would have to pay for cleaning and/or replacement despite it being a health hazard due to mold and pet urine. The ceiling fan was covered in a black residue due to lack of adequate past cleaning. Josh was able to remove some of it but we don’t even want to use it not knowing what it is. The service folks are nice and prompt but they are limited as to what they can do. We have a luxury rental and expected more for this money. Needless to say, we will not being renewing the lease. I will be contacting public health services in MN to see what can be done about moldy carpet and the smell of dog urine. Also, the street noise that we were told was minimal sounds like a roaring train 24/7. We have to use noise canceling head phones to get 3 hours of sleep. This is entirely due to horrendous windows. I will give my kudos to Josh the maintenance person who tries his best. Renter be ware.

I live in a Greystar property and my…

I live in a Greystar property and my experience has been very bad at Ballard Public Lofts and Market in Seattle, WA. The corporate office is impossible to contact and appears to hide behind a website pointing you back to the local manager of the apartment complex, who has been useless. Here’s my experience.

My expectations of a luxury apartment are that they pay attention to the person paying the premium price. That has not been my experience here. Yes they address you with friendliness but in the end nothing really changes, so let me tell you about my personal experience, and what has occurred. I moved into a very small unit. About a month after moving in noise above me was so loud that it would jolt me awake in the middle of the b night. I complained for at least a month and nothing changed. Finally, they offered me a larger apartment at the same price but I had to pay $600 to move. I chose that option because I needed sleep. I also pay $35 a month for each of my two pets and $165 additional to park in a gated garage. Supposedly this garage is secure but during my time here there have been a break in to at least one car in the gated garage and most recently my new car with less than 6500 miles was damaged on the bumper. This is because management chose to assign three SUVs in parking spots right beside each other. These spots are more for compact cars even though they have compact spots as well. As for the pet fee, I assumed it, along with the $300 deposit to be for use of an amenity on top of the roof specifically for the pets. Some of the neighbors here never clean up after their dogs. My dogs have actually been sick twice which has cost me over $500 to treat them. I have complained constantly about this and yes there has been some change, but it is all starting again and I have had to begin complaining once again. One neighbor encountered a homeless man he had to run out (all elevators and gates require a fob so we still don’t know how he accessed a tenant only area) and I encountered two homeless appearing people at 4:30 am on the roof smoking pot (I’m told they were guests). My dog actually ate some of their emptied residual and became very ill. Most recently I have had a theft right outside of my door. And was awakened at 3:30 in the morning by someone trying to get in my front door. I live in one of the live/work spaces which has its own entrance on the street. It was a poor choice for me to move to this complex. Now I want to move out 30 days prior to the end of my lease and they are not going to give me any concessions. When you try to call the corporate office, they have no contact information and just hide behind a website. Luckily, I’m smart enough to figure out how to get the CEOs name and email address and will be reaching out to him as well. This is my experience. You may have a better experience because you may not expect as much as I do. So with that in mind, make your choice. With all of that said, I do want to point out that Dallas who manages the maintenance is the best employee they have. You will soon see a response from management that is a lot like all of the other responses. I have seen when someone has something negative to say. I’m sure I will have another post coming soon. There is little to no security patrol here. I have noticed a security officer every now and then who goes through the building and up on the roof and takes pictures of the time that he is there. He’s a friendly guy, but I’m not sure what benefit he is bringing.

Theives, Liars, Criminals

This company tried to raise my rent in the early days of the pandemic. When I moved out with ample notice, I gave them a pristine apartment. They fabricated charges and refused to return my security deposit. Three years later, they have hired a collection firm to collect like 4 days of rent with three years of interest. The first notice I got was a ding to my credit report and score. These people are thieves, they are liars, and, raising rent during a pademic also makes them criminals. STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM ANYTHING THEY OWN IN ANY CITY!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!!! THIEVES... LIARS.... CRIMINALS.

Worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with

Received a bill for charges after move out that made absolutely no sense (for example ceiling needed full repaint) and called their accounts receivables. The employee was extremely rude and refused to give us date of inspection or any other details about the charges. He then said he could no longer speak to us and hung up. Absolutely ridiculous.

Don’t rent from them. My lease was for $1200. Tell me why my bill was $1500 the first month? Oh yeah cause they are charging me for the electricity in the building itself. Not only that but the package delivery room and other things that were part of the amenities.
