This is my far the worst management…

This is by far the worst management company that has ever managed my apartment building.

I couldn’t tell you where to start maybe incompetent managers? Poor Customer? Bad Bookkeeping? Or maybe housing discrimination?

The reality is, this is a budget company and if your property is being managed by it, You should probably move immediately!!
If you are considering any apartment building or complex, make sure it’s not Managed by them.

Care taking is not good…

Love our apartment and maintenance staff is very good. However the building and grounds are not kept clean. Our last building (not Greystar) he staff walked the building and gounds almost daily. Here months go by with the same trash and no one seems to notice. I admit we have a very young and un caring tenet population but that is no reason for management to ignore.

Fire Accident due to Greystar Negligence - Life Threatening

IF you value your life, please do not move here.
This review is for 221 Bergen St - Greystar property.
1. No proper inspection is done prior to apt move in.
2. Got into a fire accident the other day where the oven caught on fire within a minute of turning it on for the first time. Even when there was nothing inside it. Fire originated from below the bottom panel and shows clear signs of negligence from management.
Management is pretty rude and are self centered. Attaching one of the videos, which shows soot from under the bottom panel where the fire started from.
3. Extremely dirty house was given with cobwebs hanging from ceiling and dirt streaks in toilet, dirty water dispenser and with most appliances in repair.
When I showed pics of water dispenser to management, I got a pretty rude response asking me to adjust to how things are. Rather than cleaning it.
4. Witnessed couple of bugs as well.
5. Also after moving in, it took me 4 weeks of chasing after them to have the dryer fixed, cleaning, kitchen repairs, fire alarm repairs and other repairs done.
6. Insurance management is a mess. Even after providing proper insurance details, still received multiple mails and emails for more details of insurance from Assurant.
7. Maintenance is mentioned as 24/7 on website which is a lie. It is only available between 9am and 6pm. But that is only if staff is available. Otherwise, emergency maintenance such as in case of gas/water leakage etc kind of incidents - apparently is available.
8. Deliveries are often left at wrong place as drivers get confused due to the multiple doors. Packages are mishandled.

I have pics and videos but since the app does not let me post, you can check for "221 Bergen St" apartments on Google maps for the attached pics and videos. So people can be careful when they visit this place.

Unhelpful and Terrible Management

I've been dealing with so many issues at the One12 Courtland property that have made my living situation a nightmare. Where do I even begin?

The parking garage door was also left broken for weeks, leaving the area insecure. I was very concerned about the safety of myself and my property. There is also only 1 hour guest parking, so if you ever want to have a guest over longer than an hour, then you have to park across the street and pay.

Then, my car parked IN the garage had its wiring harness chewed up by rats. The complex needs to address this rodent problem to protect residents' vehicles. This is most likely due to the uncleanliness of this place due to the constant sticky floors and the reeky smell of trash and weed. You can see in the images attached the GRIME on the stairs (it was recently power washed due to some recent reviews to cover their tracks).

There was also a 3-day water outage due to a burst pipe, and the complex only provided 2 water bottles per resident per day. I had to go elsewhere just to shower and use the restroom. And the elevator was out of service for more than 2 months, making it a huge hassle for me and other residents to access our homes. It also may be an ADA violation.

To top it all off, a resident's laundry key card mistakenly gave someone access to enter my apartment. This was a major violation of my privacy and safety. The $200 rent credit they offered as compensation is completely unacceptable.

I would like to highlight that this incident aligns with the terms outlined on Page 7 of my lease agreement, which explicitly states that any violation of safety and privacy constitutes grounds for the termination of the lease. Despite everything I have gone through I have not been allowed to break my lease.

I've had to seek legal counsel due to all these issues, which I believe constitute premise liability and negligence on the complex's part. The apartment management Mary ensured to do her part to slow the legal process by refusing to connect my lawyer with Greystar's legal department until I contacted Chris the regional manager. I strongly advise anyone considering living here to reconsider. This has been an absolutely terrible experience.

Really no star
This company basically collects your rent and does maintenance. They only give you a text number, not a phone number. There is never anyone covering the front desk. Even if they put a sign up saying they are away from the desk , they have no coverage.
The only time they are in sight is when they are taking a tour around. Your contact method is by text only, which they usually do not answer. DO NOT MOVE HERE. It looks pretty, but it is hollow inside . Once you are here it is costly to move out, so you are stuck

I was at Leander Junction apartments and it was turned over to Greystar management

I was at Leander Junction apartments on Ronald Reagan. After numerous management company changes I left when my lease was up. They did not provide me with 60 day renewal notice. I reminded them of this so they said they would not pursue, but I needed to be out by March 14, 2022. Now in 2024 they have a collection agency trying to collect unpaid fictitious charges. Electric ( I had PEC) and that is who I paid. Now they say I owe for trash, pest control and other charges from 2021. I demanded they send me a print out of each and every rental invoice and my payment to the complex. They have failed to do so. I got a call from Genesis collections. I sent them a dispute email along with their list of fictitious and fraudulent charges I was disputing. If, I did not pay these charges ( they were included in my monthly invoice) I would have been advised of it and evicted. They refuse to send me all of this documentation.

Smoke infested crap hole of a building…

Smoke infested crap hole of a building with management who never answers concerns or complaints. Was forced to break the lease because I have a lung condition and the fact no one would do anything about he excessive cigarette smoking in the building. Gave them 60 days notice - while I lived with friends because I could not live there - and only two months AFTER I moved did they decide (without a conversation or notification) that they wanted another 2 months of rent. THEY BREACHED THE LEASE, not me. I signed a lease for a smoke free building and it was like living inside an ashtray. I have taken them to court, I have the NYS Attorney General investigating them. If you lived there, you should the same - it's easy to open a case online.

Imprint Apartments Supports Scientology

I have recently found out that the owners and management of Imprint support the Church of Scientology. The Cult of Scientology has committed many crimes against humanity. They are involved in Human Trafficking, Child and Elder Abuse, Family Disconnection, and Financial Fraud. On March 3rd, 2024, Scientology opened its new Ideal Org in Printer's Row. The management of Imprint threatened a tenant with trespass if they allowed a known Scientology protester to enter the building. First off to think a company that you pay a monthly fee to would threaten you with trespass is horrid enough, but to side with the Church of Scientology is despicable. I stand for humanity and refuse to rent from anyone who would support such crimes.

AVOID ALL GREYSTAR-MANAGED properties

0 Star RATING: AVOID ALL GREYSTAR-MANAGED properties. Several negative complaints posted about Everleigh Short Pump 55+. We have rented for awhile at Everleigh Short Pump 55+ Apt Homes Community & the services & attentiveness to us have greatly deteriorated. Management staff has changed a couple of times & the current management team are a group of emotionally-immature, young, highly defensive, passive-aggressive draconian style team members who manage Everleigh Short Pump Greystar in Richmond’s West End. The Property Manager has been highly unprofessional & turns a blind eye to complaints about her staff members.
In addition, our VALUES DO NOT MATCH those of Everleigh Short Pump Greystar’s Management Team!
They have created a toxic environment at Everleigh Short Pump & have been engaging in micromanaging & controlling residents especially ours when food is brought out to the Clubhouse for residents. Greystar engages in MARKETING SCAMS. The property is beautiful inside & outside but DO NOT BE TAKEN ON NOR FOOLED BY these features! Awful deceitful intolerant Management Staff. No cameras in management offices. NO CAMERAS IN ANY OF THE COMMON AREAS NOR STAIRWELLS.
They practice favoritism when it comes to attentiveness & helpfulness & services to residents. Discriminate if residents’ personalities upsets them & then avoids & ignores these residents’ concerns. Leasing Agent started out great & but started to disengage from certain residents whom she disliked due to complaints against her!
Do NOT TRUST ANYONE IN EVERLEIGH SHORT PUMP MANAGEMENT OFFICE!
They engage in gaslighting residents when confronted with residents’ complaints about staff members.
Property Manager refuses to intervene in tenant-tenant harassment as well.
The new Assistant Manager makes excuses for staff members when complaints about their attitudes are voiced to her. Very unprofessional!
They have each other’s backs but NOT ALL the residents’ backs!
Tenants are afraid to complain to management office as some staff members are aggressive & engage in intimidation tactics. Complaining to the Everleigh Short Pump Management Team HAS TURNED OUT TO BE INEFFECTIVE FOR US! They only make excuses for staff & HAVE TOLD US THEY DO NOT GET INVOLVED IN ANY TENANT-TENANT ISSUES INCLUDING HARASSMENTS!

THIS 55+ Apt complex is run like an Assisted Living Facility.

DO NOT RENT AT EVERLEIGH SHORT PUMP 55+
A VERY MIS-MANAGED APARTMENT HOME PROPERTY

Where to begin?

This review is for Greystar property management, a multi-state company.

I live at Deer Run Apartments in Brown Deer, WI, and I have been a resident for over 18 years. Since Greystar took over several years ago the quality of life and resident services has steadily trended downhill. Here are a few areas of concern:
1.) Ensuring competence of fire alarm system installers? How about nearly having my door broken down by the Fire Dept. when the alarm origin was actually from a different unit.
2.) Snow removal? Unless they want to shovel their own driveways, residents may be stranded for days after a winter storm. Previous management was much more prompt.
3.) Paying a monthly fee for fitness center maintenance, yet not ensuring that broken equipment is either promptly repaired or replaced.
4.) Summer of 2023 - the swimming pool was out of commission for nearly the entire summer. Another lacking amenity that's part of what I'm paying $1320/month for a single bedroom apartment for.
5.) Failing to support onsite maintenance departments with adequate resources and personnel. Deer Run currently has ONE maintenance man (a very competent one) to take care of 232+ units.

These are some, but definitely not all, areas of concern. Just the ones that have affected me personally.

Fabricated noise ordinance - blatant cover up

we have endured months and months of being awakened in the middle of the night--2am, 3am, 4am and so on-- and kept awake, by our upstairs neighbors who have admitted to us in a letter that they work during the night from home and sleep during the daytime hours--the exact opposite of when most residents adhere to the state-wide and community expressed quiet hours of 10pm - 7 am to refrain from making loud noises. There is a large family in a 2 bedroom who get up, shower, dress, use their washer and dryer and other computers and heavy machines--we can even hear them on their keyboards above our bed. Their constant banging is a mystery to us--they rarely leave the home even in daylight--but the banging can go on all night.
We were advised by our management to record videos to demonstrate frequency and noise by date and time which we did. We played management a sample to hear. After more complaining to management, including verbal, written and in-person meetings, we were informed that a Notice to Cure was sent.

The noises and banging nightly continued, also recorded by us. Management then asked for copies of the recordings which we provided, as well as preparing the legal position of both the community lease and this county's (Polk) noise disturbance ordinance--both clearly stating the quiet hours 10 pm - 7 am, tenants' right to peaceful enjoyment of their property, and the county noise ordinance stating NO decibel level is required to constitute disturbance.
After 5 months of sleepless nights, management then informed us that their company's lawyer had advised them that unless they created a disturbance above 75 decibels (!), no further action could be taken. They offered us a different apartment, or the option of leaving altogether without penalty. They also advised us to get a white noise machine. We refused all 3 options--none of these 'solutions' curbed the problem of the neighbors' noise.
We next asked to speak with their lawyer to seek a copy of this 'so-called decibel ordinance' since it directly contradicted the one we had provided. When we called their lawyer, he was rude, refused to speak to us, and told us that we could find the law ourselves. Click--he hung up on us, mid-sentence!
We then consulted the Polk County code enforcement police officer, and in two emails to us, the police confirmed that no such decibel level existed to define a disturbance.
We once again copied management on the county ordinance and the police reply refuting their interpretation of the law to protect us from chronic nightly, noise.
We were informed finally, after sending 2 emails, the first ignored, that management would do nothing further; that we would need to call the police ourselves in future.
NO ONE HAS EVER RETURNED OUR CALLS OR MESSAGES TO REGIONAL MGT. NOW OVER 3 WEEKS AGO! NOISE CONTINUES NIGHTLY!!!

Warning Against Greystar: Unjust Charges and Poor Customer Service

Greystar is dishonest, untrustworthy, pretentious, and disrespectful. They are corporate greed at best.

I am currently unemployed and legally classified as homeless. The lack of response from Greystar is causing unnecessary stress and hindering my job search.

I have been incorrectly charged for my move-out balance with Greystar. Despite being informed that I would receive a refund of $66.45, my account now incorrectly states that I owe $723.39. This discrepancy is due to an incorrect charge of $834.74 for carpet damage by a former manager, Sam Blake, without any invoice for this charge.

Despite numerous attempts to contact Greystar's accounts receivable and Element Barclay Station, I have not received a single response or helpful update. The only Greystar employees who have been helpful in this matter are Courtney Westervelt and Rachael Dinka.

The only damage was minor carpet damage in the guest bedroom. The master bedroom was in pristine condition. The only itemized documentation I received stated the carpet damage was $177.80. The origin of the $834.74 charge remains unclear.

I want to reiterate that I am only responsible for the replacement of the guest room carpet, as specified in our lease agreement. The carpet in the master bedroom is in almost new condition, and according to our lease, I am not liable for its replacement.

As per Clause 11 in our lease agreement, I am financially responsible only for existing damages. The stains in the guest room, caused by my guest, do not necessitate the replacement of undamaged matching carpet. Since the carpet in the master bedroom was not damaged, the decision and associated replacement costs should be covered by Greystar.

Despite all of this, my account still reflects the incorrect balance. I expect this to be rectified immediately. I advise potential renters to be cautious when dealing with Greystar. Ensure all charges are itemized and clearly explained, and keep a record of all communications. It's unfortunate that a company of this size lacks the basic customer service to resolve such issues promptly and fairly.

Thieves and roaches

This is absolutely the worst renting experience of my life. They charge crazy and unjustified fees on your security deposit, then completely ignore you. They do not reply to your emails, phone calls, or mail—absolute negligence.

The living experience is bad as well. The management consists of individuals who sit on Facebook all day, and they even write positive reviews for themselves. There are no maintenance personnel available. For instance, a leaking A/C unit took them a whole month just to show up. They are the worst. Avoid at all costs.

They will charge you crazy high deposits and will not return them in the timeframe required by state law. We are 3 months out waiting on a $2,000 deposit for the Cottages of Boone in Boone, NC. This company does not care about the "little people". AVOID THE COTTAGES OF BOONE. They know that people have no other choice than to rent these unsafe/unhealthy apartments because the housing is so sparce and hard to find in this crazy college town. They will never be forced to "be better". Their corporate numbers lead only to voicemail so they never have to admit anything to you personally. Good luck if you are forced to rent with them.
