I’ve always admired Gitzo for their exceptional build quality and commitment to professional-grade reliability. That’s why I chose the GH4383LR ball head – a flagship product designed to last for decades.
Unfortunately, my initial experience didn’t live up to those expectations. After only 5½ months of normal use, a key internal component broke. The retailer I purchased from (Foto.no) acknowledged the defect early on, but their handling of the issue was deeply disappointing: weeks passed with no solution, no clear communication, and eventually they closed the case without resolution—placing the blame solely on Gitzo.
Aftersales support is absolutely crucial, especially for premium products like this. Even the best equipment can occasionally fail, and what truly defines a brand is how it responds when things go wrong.
After my original review here on trustpilot, Gitzo themselves stepped in and took responsibility. For that, I’m very grateful—and it restored much of my trust in the brand.
I would gladly have given Gitzo a full 5-star rating, because their products remain among the very best in the industry. However, a brand is only as strong as its partners, and my negative experience with their chosen retailer is part of the overall customer journey.
That’s why I’m giving Gitzo 4 stars: top-quality gear, but with a reminder that strong aftersales support—including through trusted retail partners—is essential to uphold the promise Gitzo makes to its customers.

Gitzo customer service is exemplary; and is equal to the excellent design and manufacturing quality of Gitzo tripods.

My Gitzo purchase arrived promptly.
Unfortunately the packaging had been damaged in transit but Gitzo responded quickly to resolve the issue.
The product itself is very nice quality indeed.

I am being asked about my 'experience' buying a tripod. It wasn't a complicated transaction: it should have been easy and it was. It was sent correctly and promptly, so no concerns or complaints and I would be happy to buy from Gitzo directly again. The tripod iteslf seems to be well made, light and easy to use. It's too soon to say whether it will stand the test of time, but right now I have no reason to be concerned.

Junk. I purchased a Gitzo Legende through Gitzo's Indiegogo campaign, which is supposed to include both a spare parts kit (it didn't) and a lifetime warranty. After getting confirmation from Gitzo that I have a lifetime warranty, the Canadian partner told me that I need to ship my tripod to them in Ontario so that they can decide whether or not the issue is covered by the lifetime warranty.
The knobs on the head fall off easily, because they are not captive. First it was the tension knob; a glaring design flaw that indicates that the Legende was not designed for field use. The pan knob was next. Then the knobs on the clamp. And the head is integral, which means that the tripod is now unusable, and I'm having no luck getting a response from Gitzo customer service.
Gitzo tripods are junk.

Web site easy to use, equipment is well made, though I feel it is over priced for what you get.

Gitzo tripods - simply the best. Incredible light for their sturdiness. Nothing there to snag which could be avoided without jeopardizing function. And available in many configurations - horses for courses. I've got 3 of them currnently - big, tall and stout (no center column); stout and flexible (center column for quick adjustments in portrait situations); and travel.

Great products, but parts delivery is slow. Do they really not inventory parts in the US? The spare parts box for the LeGende came from Europe. BTW, I thought first purchasers were supposed to get parts for free, but evidently this was not the case for the parts kit.

I ordered feet for my tripod. The package should have contained 3 but only had 1 in it. I sent it back and the second replacement order was exactly the same; it contained only 1 foot. Quality control is terrible especially given the price paid.
I ordered the tripod on the website.
The discount code did not work when ordering.
This was resolved within 2 days with 1 email so that I could order the tripod with the discount.
After placing the order with Gitzo in Italy, my order was delivered within 4 days (in the Netherlands).
Fast and perfect service!
The tripod I ordered is also a quality product. This is immediately noticeable when you pick it up. I have used tripod a number of times and am very happy with it.
