Customer service was really friendly…

Updated: Initially I rated 2 stars, but after sending an email to their complaints department they have issued a full refund for the defective credit report, thank you.

Customer service was really friendly and they tried to be helpul, but I guess the company places some limitations on them.

I ordered a company credit check (which is not available for free in any capacity). Only to get it and have the details of my 2 week old company be incorrect, although they are correct on asic.

I had to apply for a change, they were fantastic with getting the change done very fast as I mentioned how urgently I needed the report for some legal compliance.

But then I can't get a replacement report for free, I'm broke I spent my last $100 on the first credit report, I need it within days for some legal compliance and now I can't get my credit report in time because I cant afford to buy the repaired copy of my credit report, so $100 was a total waste and I don't know what I'm supposed to do..

Horrible organisation to deal with and…

Horrible organisation to deal with and counter productive to what they are supposed to be doing. I have not lived in Australia for 18 years and was a victim of fraud 4 times in 2021. Equifax refuses to 1. Correct details on their site 2. Place a credit ban. Both Illion and Experian have placed a credit ban. By not placing a ban they are leaving me open for further fraud attempts.

Equifax cancelled my subscription for…

Equifax cancelled my subscription for the identity protect package. However, they are still debiting my bank account for the package their own website tells me I’m not subscribed to, while the billing screen shows I’m due to be debited again this month. They assured me I wouldn’t be billed again (I was!!). I have submitted multiple cases online, plus a complaint. They’ve stopped responding to me now. They need to stop taking (stealing) my money if I don’t have a subscription. I’m just waiting for the 30 days to pass (the period that the complaints area says it could take to action) before I lodge a complaint with the AFCA. If I get no help there, the next step will be a visit to my local MP. Honestly, I’m so annoyed that I’m tempted to contact A Current Affair regarding this mess.

Dubious alerts and no helpful information

Optus subscribed me to Equifax Protect when they got hacked. What a waste of time Equifax proved to be!

First their address recognition system didn't work and I was left in limbo for ages. Finally they managed to add me after I went through a prolonged complaint process. They now send out useless emails saying

"You have a new Identity Watch Alert!"

Talk about the Boy Who Cried Wolf! You spend ages trying to log into their incredibly slow site and finally discover a small message:
"Your email address has been compromised" that tells you nothing more nor any contextual info that might actually help you let alone assuage your concerns!

How much has Optus wasted on this "service"? Thankfully it wasn't my own money!

take ages to get back to you

take ages to get back to you , supplied a lender my score in which was half of what they told me in my paid subscription on my credit file , failed to mark i small default as paid even tho they were paid years ago , i asked them for copy they supplied lender and refused , so lender sent a copy and could not believe the issue , 2 years now and they still can find or fix the issue , so totally upset with them as all my problems started with covid killing my business , and there lack of attention to fix it so i can move forward is appalling , but they are very happy to take subscription money every momth for nothing ,

FALSELY ADVISE I HAVE DEFAULT THEN FAIL TO EXPLAIN OR CORRECT

Take weeks to supply free credit report which allegedly is available within 24 hrs. Constantly claim sent have experienced this in the past so far have requested free file 4 times by phone twice online. When you ask to speak to a supervisor don't be fooled into giving a phone number and expecting the call to be returned. THIS IS A CON. Only way is to wait which not what they want. I will be reporting to OAIC and demanding compensation for false reporting, emotional distress and public embarrassment. I seek legal advice as to whether their actions constitute defamation. I have an Excellent Credit score which Equifax admit would not be possible with a default but yet they still will not correct the misinformation they have supplied. Finally have advised in writing NO DEFAULT but no apology or explanation as to how or why the Finance Co was provided with false and defamatory information. Don't expect a response without legal action typical American bully boy tactics. The longer it goes on the more the compensation expected will increase and the more public damage done.
