If anything, this course made me dumber.

These courses are a mix of 15 year old info and AI slop. Material is riddled with mistakes and they expect you to somehow regurgitate it all in a way that makes some sort of sense in response to their vague essay questions.

Misha

enrolled in a course at Distance Learn College but didn’t complete it due to poor support from the instructors. Communication was slow and unhelpful, especially when I needed guidance with assignments. The materials seemed fine, but without proper teaching support, it was hard to stay motivated. Would not recommend for those who need active assistance while studying.

Outdated, frustrating, impossible

I enrolled in DLC Training’s CIPD qualification in September 2023 expecting a professional and supportive learning experience. Instead, I encountered persistent issues that made completing the course impossible.

My tutor provided inconsistent guidance, making it difficult to progress. Clarification requests were often ignored or met with abrupt responses.

Assignments were repeatedly referred for conflicting reasons, with no clear direction. My resubmission in June 2024 remains unmarked as of April 2025.

Calls and emails were rarely accepted, and responses to queries were dismissive and unhelpful. When I raised concerns about the marking delay, I was told in a passive aggressive manner I should have already known the timescales from a brief phone call over a year prior.

Requests to change tutors due to unhelpful responses were denied, as only one tutor was available. There was no structured way to escalate issues.

The content is years out of date, with expired links and no access to relevant learning resources. Pre-recorded videos were delivered by someone not involved with the course.

There is a certainly irony in studying a course that emphasises the importance of good customer service and treating people with dignity and respect, only to be met with hostility, abruptness and a lack of support.

Myself and my colleague who is a HR Business Partner found even the Level 3 qualification difficult to complete due to poor support and outdated materials.

I strongly recommend considering alternative providers, such as Avado, who offer structured support and regular contact.

This experience has been frustrating and deeply upsetting. Please avoid to save yourself from a disappointing experience.

Avoid

Avoid!
Took them 2 months to send me my books so I could begin studying. Communication was shocking, got absolutely no support from my tutor who changed 4 times in the course of a year. Took 7 months to receive my certificate once I had completed. Constantly changed the goal posts regarding the expectation of my work.
Really really difficult 3 years.

AVOID - Dreadful Company who do not care about their students

Dreadful company who are now ignoring my complaints. I received very poor guidance/support from a tutor and wanted to enquire about changing to another. Due to various people leaving the company, it was impossible to even set up a meeting to escalate this. The company also misled during the initial purchase phase and I later found out that the exam fees were not included. I have been forced to escalate this and submit an official complaint about them to the governing body.

Absolute disgrace of a company

Absolute disgrace of a company. For months I have been enquiring about my course results from the DLC admin department and have been constantly getting ignored. DLC don’t respond to my emails or my voicemails, people always seem to be unavailable. No one deserves this especially when paying lots of money for a course.

Horrendous

Horrendous. Signed up for a course and then heard nothing for over 3 weeks. Despite reaching out to my contact who assured me I'd get a call the next day.
Asked for my almost 3k fees to be returned to be told no.
Avoid like the plague.

Do not touch them with a barge-pole

Do not touch them with a barge-pole. They are utterly useless - the training material they provide makes no sense, there is no tutor to support you, and they don't respond to you when you ask for help. I've never come across such an unprofessional, unhelpful company. Go to another training provider even if it cost a little more, DLC is a huge waste of time and money.

Would NOT recommend

To make you understand my frustration with DLC Training: I have submitted 3 assignments in November 2022, and now July 2023, I am still waiting for the last assignment to be reviewed.
Very disappointed, I've started my 3CIPD course a few years ago, I've had 2 extensions. When I've started my course, the tutor was very helpful and supportive. Then another tutor took over and it is very hard get in touch with her, emails ignored, I've raised a complaint as per the company's procedure about a month ago, did not receive an acknowledge email, even after I emailed again asking for it. And the thing is that the complaint went to my tutor for review, which makes no sense to me.
Very frustrating and I really need the certificate at this point to advance in my career.

AVOID: Absolutely horrible experience

After 1 month I received my books. The third week I told them I wanted to cancel and have my money back as it was too long waiting (ONE MONTH for 2 books!). They denied because I waived the “10 days cooling off period”, well, I wanted to start as soon as possible but on the T&C only is valid if you have access to the books online (I found out my course was only available with books after I did the payment, you’ll not find it on the website). How can you have 10 cooling off period if you sent the books after 1 month?!

Contacted Citizens Advisor and sent them an email. I’ll update.
