Easy to use and the best value for money

Reasonably easy too book however putting passport details in long winded

Using Direct Ferries is a good option, the app is simple to use, just add crossing, dates, and vehicle details, if you are disabled mention this as well, at the ferry terminal they aim to place you near lifts, thus will be the second time I use Direct Ferries, I understand you can be nervous the first time but the staff put you at ease.

Nice and easy to check in and board. If the ferry experience could be improved at all, I'd say better food choices for vegetarians.

Avoid Direct Ferries at all costs.

I booked two sailings and needed to cancel one. I made every reasonable effort to do this through the app, but it simply would not allow me to make the change. I contacted customer service, expecting them to help resolve what was clearly a problem with their platform. Instead, I was told that because it was within 24 hours of sailing, nothing could be done.

The result? I lost more than £700.

When a booking system fails and customer service refuses to take responsibility, it is the customer who pays the price. There was no flexibility, no attempt to find a fair solution, and absolutely no goodwill.

If you have any choice, book directly with the ferry operator instead. It may take a few extra minutes, but at least you’ll have a far better chance of making changes without dealing with an inflexible middleman.

This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have had. I will never use Direct Ferries again, and I would strongly advise others to avoid them too.

Overall, my experience was good because I got everything booked, and I actually enjoy the travel planning process with you.

However, I almost gave it 1/5 because of how difficult it was to use a discount code. I spent around two hours going back and forth because when I reached the payment page, the voucher box was not available. I had to keep re-entering everything over and over again just to apply the code.

It honestly felt like the system was designed to make people give up on using their voucher. I was using a student discount that only saved me 5%, and considering the time and frustration involved, it really wasn’t worth it.

Easy to get a very good quote, compared to booking directly with the ferry companies, and the process of booking itself is simple and fast.

The whole system of booking by using a computer & a pre-planned form is very difficult for elderly people to cope with. I have never felt comfortable with paying by giving a string of numbers to a computer - and eventually went to my bank, where a lovely lady at the counter helped me to complete the form and pay.
