Very simple process and they guide you through the steps. Took about 4 months from ordering to getting registration through and driving in the UK.

There were no surprises and Mr Ken was helpful every step of the way, even after my vehicle arrived. Phenomenal service!

I'm surprised at how reliable the van has been, even in the frigid weeather. I got the Kei van because I knew it would turn heads to promote my DJ business -- and any time I take it out, I get smiles.

It's natural to have some apprehension whenever you're buying a used vehicle. Combined with importing a car for the first time - I was more than a little afraid.

The entire CarFromJapan team took those fears away starting with my first inquiry via email via their website. Every question I had was quickly answered - and I quickly received all the information I needed for importing and receiving my Kei Truck.

To give you an idea on a timeline: My first inquiry on a truck was Thanksgiving weekend, 2025. I bought my truck on Dec. 1, 2025, and it was scheduled for shipment on Dec. 7th. It arrived in Honolulu aboard the NEPTUNE LEADER on Dec. 23rd, and I picked it up after clearing customs on Dec. 24th.

I wanted to provide a fair but accurate review. I have used this company multiple times, so I feel I’ve seen how they operate in different scenarios.

Their purchasing system and logistics are well set up. Buying a vehicle and getting it delivered to port is straightforward, and their complaints team does engage and respond.

My issues have been with the vehicles themselves. On more than one occasion I have received a car that did not match the condition implied by the listing. In one of my most recent purchase (a Kei truck), the photos showed a clean body, but on arrival there were multiple areas of rust that were not visible or mentioned. The truck also misfires and stalls, which started immediately on arrival.

I was offered $400 compensation, which in the UK after fees is around £280. This does not cover the cost of the bodywork alone, let alone mechanical repairs. If these issues had been disclosed before purchase, I would have accepted them as part of buying an older import. The problem is the lack of transparency.

I understand Car From Japan acts as an intermediary, but from a buyer’s perspective they are the platform advertising these vehicles. When a car arrives materially different from how it was presented, the responsibility shouldn’t simply stop with “the seller won’t offer more.”

I currently have another open case but will likely cut my losses rather than repeat this process.

I have also had vehicles from them that were fine, but based on my experience it can be luck of the draw. If you get a good one, great. If not, be prepared for significant repair costs with limited compensation.

The way to go if you want to import from Japan, as easy as you can get it.

I have purchased two Honda ACTY through Car From Japan. 1994 HA4 and a 1999 HA7. Both buying experiences were handled professionally and the communication was excellent.
2024 and 2025

The whole experience was amazing. Mr. Ken walked me through the process of buying my car, shipping it, and getting me in touch with a broker who helped me clear it. The car is perfect and works and runs great. It looks like new. Overall amazing experience, and I will gladly do it again. Already looking for my next car.

Overall I have a great experience working with CarFromJapan. They took care of everything to get my truck onto a ship headed to the US. It was exactly as described as well. It also started right up when I picked it up and continues to start strong. I'll be recommending them to friends and will go back to them the next time I want to import another vehicle. All of my questions were answered promptly and fully. Being new to the import process, they made it easy.

I purchased a 1996 Honda Acty Truck from CarfromJapan. First time doing anything like this, and I was quite nervous. Seemed like I was signing up for a bumpy ride. The person assigned to me was very helpful. Always answered all my emails promptly and took much of the anxiety of a purchase like this out of the equation. No regrets. I ADORE the truck. It arrived in spectacular condition. Better than the pictures!! I am glad I went through the process. One learning lesson: Get yourself a good, reliable broker on the US side. It's so easy to find a decent one.

I had a great experience from this company. Ken helped me out and communicated very well through email. I inquired about a different Jimny than the one we ended up buying. I told Ken what color I was looking for and he sent multiple options. The one we chose is in excellent condition for it being a 1995. And runs great. Sound system works and is upgraded . A/c blows cold. Couldn’t be happier. Shipping it to Hawaii was easy with Ken’s instructions. I would highly recommend this company if you want to import a car from Japan to the states or anywhere.

Cars from Japan was awesome and very helpful in the process of importing and really made the process simpler then doing it alone. I would highly recommend really looking for the exact car you want and ask questions. For me they have answered every question in a timely manner.

Vehicle in the video was the one I received. Needed a washing and not much else. Was in very good shape, for a 25 year old vehicle.

Car From Japan turned out to be the best of the online vehicle import companies from Japan that I found.
Two other companies, I started to work with wanted me to follow up on some Customs Import and FIJI Department of vehicle issues. Whereas Car of Japan took care of everything and also guided me through some of the procedures I had to deal with here in Fiji.
Their website is very easy to use to find the vehicle that you want and the selection is excellent.
Ami was a joy to work with, she followed up on everything and was very quick to get back to me with any questions or problems that I had. Ami went out of her way to use an App to translate the Owners manual into written form for me which was obviously incredibly useful. That’s the kind of service I’m talking about, It’s excellent.
My 2021 Toyota 4wd Pixis arrived in excellent condition, looked exactly like the photos on their website and the shipping time actually was pretty quick.
Some of the prices with Car of Japan seemed to be a few hundred dollars more than other websites but without a doubt you get what you pay for.
Professionalism, honesty, and fast service was worth every penny, especially as I mentioned before other companies wanted me to do some of the work so actually Car of Japan isn’t more expensive.
I highly recommend Car of Japan and their wonderful representative Ami and I have already referred them to a couple of friends and a family member.
